1 T he share of land for the people of Joseph went from the Jordan at Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, into the desert. It went from Jericho through the hill country to Bethel.
The allotment for the people of Joseph went from the Jordan by Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, into the wilderness, going up from Jericho into the hill country to Bethel;
2 I t went from Bethel to Luz, and on to the land of the Archites at Ataroth.
Then it went from Bethel to Luz and passed on to Ataroth, the border of the Archites.
3 T hen it went west to the land of the Japhletites, as far as the land of lower Beth-horon, and to Gezer. It ended at the sea.
And it went down westward to the territory of the Japhletites as far as the outskirts of Lower Beth-horon, then to Gezer, and ended at the sea.
4 T he people of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim received their land.
The descendants of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.
5 T he land of the people of Ephraim by their families on the east side was Ataroth-addar, as far as upper Bethhoron.
The boundary of the Ephraimites according to their families was thus: on the east side their border was Ataroth-addar as far as Upper Beth-horon.
6 T hen the side of the land went toward the sea, with Michmethath on the north, and turned east to Taanath-shiloh, and on to the east side of Janoah.
Then the boundary went from there to the sea; on the north was Michmethath; then on the east the boundary went out to Taanath-shiloh, and eastward to Janoah,
7 F rom Janoah it went down to Ataroth, to Naarah, touched Jericho, and ended at the Jordan.
Then it went down from Janoah to Ataroth and to Naarah, touched Jericho, and ended at the Jordan.
8 F rom Tappuah it went west to the river of Kanah and ended at the sea. This is the land given to the family group of the people of Ephraim for their families.
The border went out from Tappuah westward to the brook Kanah and ended at the Sea. This is the inheritance of the Ephraimites by their families,
9 A nd there are the cities which were set apart for the people of Ephraim within the land that was given to the people of Manasseh, all the cities with the towns around them.
With the towns set apart for the Ephraimites within the inheritance of the Manassites, all those towns with their villages.
10 B ut they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer. So the Canaanites live among Ephraim to this day. But they have been made to work for the people of Ephraim.
But they did not drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day, and they became slaves required to do forced labor.
