1 A nd the lot for the sons of Joseph goeth out from Jordan Jericho, to the waters of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness going up from Jericho in the hill-country of Beth-El,
The allotment for the people of Joseph went from the Jordan by Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, into the wilderness, going up from Jericho into the hill country to Bethel;
2 a nd hath gone out from Beth-El to Luz, and passed over unto the border of Archi Ataroth,
Then it went from Bethel to Luz and passed on to Ataroth, the border of the Archites.
3 a nd gone down westward unto the border of Japhleti, unto the border of Beth-Horon the lower, and unto Gezer, and its outgoings have been at the sea.
And it went down westward to the territory of the Japhletites as far as the outskirts of Lower Beth-horon, then to Gezer, and ended at the sea.
4 A nd the sons of Joseph -- Manasseh and Ephraim -- inherit.
The descendants of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.
5 A nd the border of the sons of Ephraim is by their families; and the border of their inheritance is on the east, Atroth-Addar unto Beth-Horon the upper;
The boundary of the Ephraimites according to their families was thus: on the east side their border was Ataroth-addar as far as Upper Beth-horon.
6 a nd the border hath gone out at the sea, to Michmethah on the north, and the border hath gone round eastward Taanath-Shiloh, and passed over it eastward to Janohah,
Then the boundary went from there to the sea; on the north was Michmethath; then on the east the boundary went out to Taanath-shiloh, and eastward to Janoah,
7 a nd gone down from Janohah Ataroth, and to Naarath, and touched against Jericho, and gone out at the Jordan.
Then it went down from Janoah to Ataroth and to Naarah, touched Jericho, and ended at the Jordan.
8 F rom Tappuah the border goeth westward unto the brook of Kanah, and its outgoings have been at the sea: this the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, for their families.
The border went out from Tappuah westward to the brook Kanah and ended at the Sea. This is the inheritance of the Ephraimites by their families,
9 A nd the separate cities of the sons of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Manasseh, all the cities and their villages;
With the towns set apart for the Ephraimites within the inheritance of the Manassites, all those towns with their villages.
10 a nd they have not dispossessed the Canaanite who is dwelling in Gezer, and the Canaanite dwelleth in the midst of Ephraim unto this day, and is to tribute -- a servant.
But they did not drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day, and they became slaves required to do forced labor.
