1 T hese things spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to the heaven, and said -- `Father, the hour hath come, glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee,
When Jesus had spoken these things, He lifted up His eyes to heaven and said, Father, the hour has come. Glorify and exalt and honor and magnify Your Son, so that Your Son may glorify and extol and honor and magnify You.
2 a ccording as Thou didst give to him authority over all flesh, that -- all that Thou hast given to him -- he may give to them life age-during;
You have granted Him power and authority over all flesh (all humankind), so that He may give eternal life to all whom You have given Him.
3 a nd this is the life age-during, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and him whom Thou didst send -- Jesus Christ;
And this is eternal life: to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and to know Him, Jesus Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.
4 I did glorify Thee on the earth, the work I did finish that Thou hast given me, that I may do.
I have glorified You down here on the earth by completing the work that You gave Me to do.
5 ` And now, glorify me, Thou Father, with Thyself, with the glory that I had before the world was, with Thee;
And now, Father, glorify Me along with Yourself and restore Me to such majesty and honor in Your presence as I had with You before the world existed.
6 I did manifest Thy name to the men whom Thou hast given to me out of the world; Thine they were, and to me Thou hast given them, and Thy word they have kept;
I have manifested Your Name to the people whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have obeyed and kept Your word.
7 n ow they have known that all things, as many as Thou hast given to me, are from Thee,
Now they know and understand that all You have given Me belongs to You.
8 b ecause the sayings that Thou hast given to me, I have given to them, and they themselves received, and have known truly, that from Thee I came forth, and they did believe that Thou didst send me.
For the words that You gave Me I have given them; and they have received and accepted and have come to know positively and in reality that I came forth from Your presence, and they have believed and are convinced that You did send Me.
9 ` I ask in regard to them; not in regard to the world do I ask, but in regard to those whom Thou hast given to me, because Thine they are,
I am praying for them. I am not praying (requesting) for the world, but for those You have given Me, for they belong to You.
10 a nd all mine are Thine, and Thine mine, and I have been glorified in them;
All Mine are Yours, and all Yours belong to Me; and I am glorified in (through) them.
11 a nd no more am I in the world, and these are in the world, and I come unto Thee. Holy Father, keep them in Thy name, whom Thou hast given to me, that they may be one as we;
And I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep in Your Name '> in the knowledge of Yourself] those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We.
12 w hen I was with them in the world, I was keeping them in Thy name; those whom Thou hast given to me I did guard, and none of them was destroyed, except the son of the destruction, that the Writing may be fulfilled.
While I was with them, I kept and preserved them in Your Name '> in the knowledge and worship of You]. Those You have given Me I guarded and protected, and not one of them has perished or is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
13 ` And now unto Thee I come, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves;
And now I am coming to You; I say these things while I am still in the world, so that My joy may be made full and complete and perfect in them.
14 I have given to them Thy word, and the world did hate them, because they are not of the world, as I am not of the world;
I have given and delivered to them Your word (message) and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
15 I do not ask that Thou mayest take them out of the world, but that Thou mayest keep them out of the evil.
I do not ask that You will take them out of the world, but that You will keep and protect them from the evil one.
16 ` Of the world they are not, as I of the world am not;
They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the world), as I am not of the world.
17 s anctify them in Thy truth, Thy word is truth;
Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth.
18 a s Thou didst send me to the world, I also did send them to the world;
Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
19 a nd for them do I sanctify myself, that they also themselves may be sanctified in truth.
And so for their sake and on their behalf I sanctify (dedicate, consecrate) Myself, that they also may be sanctified (dedicated, consecrated, made holy) in the Truth.
20 ` And not in regard to these alone do I ask, but also in regard to those who shall be believing, through their word, in me;
Neither for these alone do I pray, but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching,
21 t hat they all may be one, as Thou Father in me, and I in Thee; that they also in us may be one, that the world may believe that Thou didst send me.
That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.
22 ` And I, the glory that thou hast given to me, have given to them, that they may be one as we are one;
I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one as We are one:
23 I in them, and Thou in me, that they may be perfected into one, and that the world may know that Thou didst send me, and didst love them as Thou didst love me.
I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them as You have loved Me.
24 ` Father, those whom Thou hast given to me, I will that where I am they also may be with me, that they may behold my glory that Thou didst give to me, because Thou didst love me before the foundation of the world.
Father, I desire that they also whom You have entrusted to Me may be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory, which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
25 ` Righteous Father, also the world did not know Thee, and I knew Thee, and these have known that Thou didst send me,
O just and righteous Father, although the world has not known You and has failed to recognize You and has never acknowledged You, I have known You; and these men understand and know that You have sent Me.
26 a nd I made known to them Thy name, and will make known, that the love with which Thou lovedst me in them may be, and I in them.'
I have made Your Name known to them and revealed Your character and Your very Self, and I will continue to make known, that the love which You have bestowed upon Me may be in them and that I may be in them.
