1 G ive ye thanks to Jehovah, For good, for to the age His kindness.

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!

2 I pray you, let Israel say, That, to the age His kindness.

4 I pray you, let those fearing Jehovah say, That, to the age His kindness.

Let those now who reverently and worshipfully fear the Lord say that His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.

5 F rom the straitness I called Jah, Jah answered me in a broad place.

Out of my distress I called upon the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free and in a large place.

6 J ehovah for me, I do not fear what man doth to me.

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

7 J ehovah for me among my helpers, And I -- I look on those hating me.

The Lord is on my side and takes my part, He is among those who help me; therefore shall I see my desire established upon those who hate me.

8 B etter to take refuge in Jehovah than to trust in man,

It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

9 B etter to take refuge in Jehovah, Than to trust in princes.

It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

10 A ll nations have compassed me about, In the name of Jehovah I surely cut them off.

All nations (the surrounding tribes) compassed me about, but in the name of the Lord I will cut them off!

11 T hey have compassed me about, Yea, they have compassed me about, In the name of Jehovah I surely cut them off.

They compassed me about, yes, they surrounded me on every side; but in the name of the Lord I will cut them off!

12 T hey compassed me about as bees, They have been extinguished as a fire of thorns, In the name of Jehovah I surely cut them off.

They swarmed about me like bees, they blaze up and are extinguished like a fire of thorns; in the name of the Lord I will cut them off!

13 T hou hast sorely thrust me to fall, And Jehovah hath helped me.

You thrust sorely at me that I might fall, but the Lord helped me.

14 M y strength and song Jah, And He is to me for salvation.

The Lord is my Strength and Song; and He has become my Salvation.

15 A voice of singing and salvation, in the tents of the righteous, The right hand of Jehovah is doing valiantly.

The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents and private dwellings of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord does valiantly and achieves strength!

16 T he right hand of Jehovah is exalted, The right hand of Jehovah is doing valiantly.

The right hand of the Lord is exalted; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly and achieves strength!

17 I do not die, but live, And recount the works of Jah,

I shall not die but live, and shall declare the works and recount the illustrious acts of the Lord.

18 J ah hath sorely chastened me, And to death hath not given me up.

The Lord has chastened me sorely, but He has not given me over to death.

19 O pen ye to me gates of righteousness, I enter into them -- I thank Jah.

Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will enter through them, and I will confess and praise the Lord.

20 T his the gate to Jehovah, The righteous enter into it.

This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it.

21 I thank Thee, for Thou hast answered me, And art to me for salvation.

I will confess, praise, and give thanks to You, for You have heard and answered me; and You have become my Salvation and Deliverer.

22 A stone the builders refused Hath become head of a corner.

The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.

23 F rom Jehovah hath this been, It wonderful in our eyes,

This is from the Lord and is His doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

24 T his the day Jehovah hath made, We rejoice and are glad in it.

This is the day which the Lord has brought about; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 I beseech Thee, O Jehovah, save, I pray Thee, I beseech Thee, O Jehovah, prosper, I pray Thee.

Save now, we beseech You, O Lord; send now prosperity, O Lord, we beseech You, and give to us success!

26 B lessed he who is coming In the name of Jehovah, We blessed you from the house of Jehovah,

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; we bless you from the house of the Lord.

27 G od Jehovah, and He giveth to us light, Direct ye the festal-sacrifice with cords, Unto the horns of the altar.

The Lord is God, Who has shown and given us light. Decorate the festival with leafy boughs and bind the sacrifices to be offered with thick cords to the horns of the altar.

28 M y God Thou, and I confess Thee, My God, I exalt Thee.

You are my God, and I will confess, praise, and give thanks to You; You are my God, I will extol You.
