1 G ive thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!

2 O h let Israel say, “His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

Let Israel now say that His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.

3 O h let the house of Aaron say, “His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

Let the house of Aaron now say that His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.

4 O h let those who fear the Lord say, “His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

Let those now who reverently and worshipfully fear the Lord say that His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.

5 F rom my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and set me in a large place.

Out of my distress I called upon the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free and in a large place.

6 T he Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

7 T he Lord is for me among those who help me; Therefore I will look with satisfaction on those who hate me.

The Lord is on my side and takes my part, He is among those who help me; therefore shall I see my desire established upon those who hate me.

8 I t is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in man.

It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

9 I t is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in princes.

It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

10 A ll nations surrounded me; In the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.

All nations (the surrounding tribes) compassed me about, but in the name of the Lord I will cut them off!

11 T hey surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me; In the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.

They compassed me about, yes, they surrounded me on every side; but in the name of the Lord I will cut them off!

12 T hey surrounded me like bees; They were extinguished as a fire of thorns; In the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.

They swarmed about me like bees, they blaze up and are extinguished like a fire of thorns; in the name of the Lord I will cut them off!

13 Y ou pushed me violently so that I was falling, But the Lord helped me.

You thrust sorely at me that I might fall, but the Lord helped me.

14 T he Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.

The Lord is my Strength and Song; and He has become my Salvation.

15 T he sound of joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.

The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents and private dwellings of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord does valiantly and achieves strength!

16 T he right hand of the Lord is exalted; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.

The right hand of the Lord is exalted; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly and achieves strength!

17 I will not die, but live, And tell of the works of the Lord.

I shall not die but live, and shall declare the works and recount the illustrious acts of the Lord.

18 T he Lord has disciplined me severely, But He has not given me over to death.

The Lord has chastened me sorely, but He has not given me over to death.

19 O pen to me the gates of righteousness; I shall enter through them, I shall give thanks to the Lord.

Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will enter through them, and I will confess and praise the Lord.

20 T his is the gate of the Lord; The righteous will enter through it.

This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it.

21 I shall give thanks to You, for You have answered me, And You have become my salvation.

I will confess, praise, and give thanks to You, for You have heard and answered me; and You have become my Salvation and Deliverer.

22 T he stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner stone.

The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.

23 T his is the Lord’s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes.

This is from the Lord and is His doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

24 T his is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

This is the day which the Lord has brought about; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 O Lord, do save, we beseech You; O Lord, we beseech You, do send prosperity!

Save now, we beseech You, O Lord; send now prosperity, O Lord, we beseech You, and give to us success!

26 B lessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord; We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; we bless you from the house of the Lord.

27 T he Lord is God, and He has given us light; Bind the festival sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.

The Lord is God, Who has shown and given us light. Decorate the festival with leafy boughs and bind the sacrifices to be offered with thick cords to the horns of the altar.

28 Y ou are my God, and I give thanks to You; You are my God, I extol You.

You are my God, and I will confess, praise, and give thanks to You; You are my God, I will extol You.
