1 To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands, says this:

To the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him Who holds the seven stars in His right hand, Who goes about among the seven golden lampstands:

2 I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false;

I know your industry and activities, laborious toil and trouble, and your patient endurance, and how you cannot tolerate wicked and have tested and critically appraised those who call apostles (special messengers of Christ) and yet are not, and have found them to be impostors and liars.

3 a nd you have perseverance and have endured for My name’s sake, and have not grown weary.

I know you are enduring patiently and are bearing up for My name’s sake, and you have not fainted or become exhausted or grown weary.

4 B ut I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

But I have this against you: that you have left (abandoned) the love that you had at first.

5 T herefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent.

Remember then from what heights you have fallen. Repent (change the inner man to meet God’s will) and do the works you did previously, or else I will visit you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you change your mind and repent.

6 Y et this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

Yet you have this: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I Myself also detest.

7 H e who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.’ Message to Smyrna

He who is able to hear, let him listen to and give heed to what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). To him who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

8 And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:

And to the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Smyrna write: These are the words of the First and the Last, Who died and came to life again:

9 I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

I know your affliction and distress and pressing trouble and your poverty—but you are rich! and how you are abused and reviled and slandered by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

10 D o not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Fear nothing that you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is indeed about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested and proved and critically appraised, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be loyally faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

11 H e who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.’ Message to Pergamum

He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). He who overcomes (is victorious) shall in no way be injured by the second death.

12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this:

Then to the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Pergamum write: These are the words of Him Who has and wields the sharp two-edged sword:

13 I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

I know where you live—a place where Satan sits enthroned. you are clinging to and holding fast My name, and you did not deny My faith, even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed (martyred) in your midst—where Satan dwells.

14 B ut I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality.

Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: you have some people there who are clinging to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to set a trap and a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat food that had been sacrificed to idols and to practice lewdness.

15 S o you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

You also have some who in a similar way are clinging to the teaching of the Nicolaitans which thing I hate.

16 T herefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.

Repent! Or else I will come to you quickly and fight against them with the sword of My mouth.

17 H e who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.’ Message to Thyatira

He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). To him who overcomes (conquers), I will give to eat of the manna that is hidden, and I will give him a white stone with a new name engraved on the stone, which no one knows or understands except he who receives it.

18 And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet are like burnished bronze, says this:

And to the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, Who has eyes that flash like a flame of fire, and Whose feet glow like bright and burnished and white-hot bronze:

19 I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and perseverance, and that your deeds of late are greater than at first.

I know your record and what you are doing, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your recent works are more numerous and greater than your first ones.

20 B ut I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

But I have this against you: that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and who is teaching and leading astray my servants and beguiling them into practicing sexual vice and eating food sacrificed to idols.

21 I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her immorality.

I gave her time to repent, but she has no desire to repent of her immorality and refuses to do so.

22 B ehold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds.

Take note: I will throw her on a bed '> of anguish], and those who commit adultery with her I will bring down to pressing distress and severe affliction, unless they turn away their minds from conduct hers and repent of their doings.

23 A nd I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

And I will strike her children (her proper followers) dead. And all the assemblies (churches) shall recognize and understand that I am He Who searches minds (the thoughts, feelings, and purposes) and the hearts, and I will give to each of you as your work deserves.

24 B ut I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them—I place no other burden on you.

But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not explored and known the depths of Satan, as they say—I tell you that I do not lay upon you any other burden:

25 N evertheless what you have, hold fast until I come.

Only hold fast to what you have until I come.

26 H e who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations;

And he who overcomes (is victorious) and who obeys My commands to the end, I will give him authority and power over the nations;

27 a nd he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received authority from My Father;

And he shall rule them with a sceptre (rod) of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, and like that which I Myself have received from My Father;

28 a nd I will give him the morning star.

And I will give him the Morning Star.

29 H e who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches).
