1 M y soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation.

4 T hey have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah.

5 M y soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him.

My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him.

6 H e only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

7 O n God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.

With God rests my salvation and my glory; He is my Rock of unyielding strength and impenetrable hardness, and my refuge is in God!

8 T rust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower). Selah!

9 M en of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath.

Men of low degree are emptiness (futility, a breath) and men of high degree are a lie and a delusion. In the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath.

10 D o not trust in oppression And do not vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.

11 O nce God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God;

12 A nd lovingkindness is Yours, O Lord, For You recompense a man according to his work.

Also to You, O Lord, belong mercy and loving-kindness, for You render to every man according to his work.
