1 T hen the angel who was speaking with me returned and woke me up like a man would be made to wake up from his sleep.

And the angel who talked with me came again and awakened me, like a man who is wakened out of his sleep.

2 H e said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a gold lamp-stand with a cup at the top and seven lamps on it. And there are seven places to hold oil, one on the top of each of the lamps.

And said to me, What do you see? I said, I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold, with its bowl on the top of it and its seven lamps on it, and seven pipes to each of the seven lamps which are upon the top of it.

3 T here are two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the cup and the other on its left side.”

And there are two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl and the other upon the left side of it.

4 T hen I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?”

So I asked the angel who talked with me, What are these, my lord?

5 S o the angel who was speaking with me said, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” God’s Promise to Zechariah

Then the angel who talked with me answered me, Do you not know what these are? And I said, No, my lord.

6 T hen he said to me, “This is the Word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by strength nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of All.

Then he said to me, This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.

7 What are you, O great mountain? In front of Zerubbabel you will become a plain. Then he will bring out the top stone and call out, “May God give it loving-favor!”’”

For who are you, O great mountain ? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain '> molehill]! And he shall bring forth the finishing gable stone with loud shoutings of the people, crying, Grace, grace to it!

8 A lso the Word of the Lord came to me saying,

Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

9 Zerubbabel’s hands have laid the first stones of this house, and his hands will finish it. Then you will know that the Lord of All has sent me to you.

The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundations of this house; his hands shall also finish it. Then you shall know (recognize and understand) that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.

10 W ho has hated the day of small things? Men will be glad when they see Zerubbabel building the walls of the Lord’s house. These seven are the eyes of the Lord which travel over all the earth.”

Who despises the day of small things? For these seven shall rejoice when they see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel. are the eyes of the Lord which run to and fro throughout the whole earth.

11 T hen I said to him, “What are these two olive trees on the right and left sides of the lamp-stand?”

Then I said to him, What are these two olive trees on the right side of the lampstand and on the left side of it?

12 A second time I said to him, “What are the two olive branches beside the two gold places that hold the oil to be poured out?”

And a second time I said to him, What are these two olive branches which are beside the two golden tubes or spouts by which the golden oil is emptied out?

13 H e answered me saying, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

And he answered me, Do you not know what these are? And I said, No, my lord.

14 T hen he said, “These are the two who are set apart to serve the Lord of All the earth.”

Then said he, These are the two sons of oil who stand before the Lord of the whole earth.
