1 P raise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord! Praise Him, O servants of the Lord,

Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) Praise the name of the Lord; praise Him, O you servants of the Lord!

2 y ou who stand in the house of the Lord, within the walls of the house of our God.

You who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God,

3 P raise the Lord, for the Lord is good. Sing praises to His name, for it is sweet.

Praise the Lord! For the Lord is good; sing praises to His name, for He is gracious and lovely!

4 F or the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself. Israel belongs to Him.

For the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His peculiar possession and treasure.

5 I know that the Lord is great. He is greater than all gods.

For I know that the Lord is great and that our Lord is above all gods.

6 T he Lord does whatever is pleasing to Him, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and in all waters.

Whatever the Lord pleases, that has He done in the heavens and on earth, in the seas and all deeps—

7 H e makes the clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning come with the rain. He brings the wind out from where He stores His riches.

Who causes the vapors to arise from the ends of the earth, Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings the wind out of His storehouses;

8 H e killed the first-born of Egypt, both man and animal.

Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast;

9 H e sent special things to see and did great works among you, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.

Who sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh and all his servants;

10 H e crushed many nations and killed powerful kings,

Who smote nations many and great and slew mighty kings—

11 K ing Sihon of the Amorites, King Og of Bashan, and all the kings of Canaan.

Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan.

12 A nd He gave their land as a gift, a gift to Israel His people.

gave their land as a heritage, a heritage to Israel His people.

13 O Lord, Your name lasts forever. O Lord, You will be remembered for all time.

Your name, O Lord, endures forever, Your fame, O Lord, throughout all ages.

14 F or the Lord will decide in favor of His people. He will have loving-pity on His servants.

For the Lord will judge and vindicate His people, and He will delay His judgments and take into favor His servants.

15 T he gods of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

16 T hey have mouths but they do not speak. They have eyes but they do not see.

have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

17 T hey have ears but they do not hear. And there is no breath in their mouths.

They have ears, but they hear not, nor is there any breath in their mouths.

18 T hose who make them and those who trust in them will be like them.

Those who make are like them; so is everyone who trusts in and relies on them.

19 O house of Israel, give honor and thanks to the Lord. O house of Aaron, give honor and thanks to the Lord.

Bless (affectionately and gratefully praise) the Lord, O house of Israel; bless the Lord, O house of Aaron.

20 O house of Levi, give honor and thanks to the Lord. You who fear the Lord, give honor and thanks to the Lord.

Bless the Lord, O house of Levi; you who reverently and worshipfully fear the Lord, bless the Lord!

21 H onor and thanks be to the Lord from Zion, Who lives in Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!

Blessed out of Zion be the Lord, Who dwells at Jerusalem! Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
