1 T hen the angel who was speaking with me returned and woke me up like a man would be made to wake up from his sleep.

And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,

2 H e said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a gold lamp-stand with a cup at the top and seven lamps on it. And there are seven places to hold oil, one on the top of each of the lamps.

and said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:

3 T here are two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the cup and the other on its left side.”

and two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.

4 T hen I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?”

So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?

5 S o the angel who was speaking with me said, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” God’s Promise to Zechariah

Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

6 T hen he said to me, “This is the Word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by strength nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of All.

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

7 What are you, O great mountain? In front of Zerubbabel you will become a plain. Then he will bring out the top stone and call out, “May God give it loving-favor!”’”

Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

8 A lso the Word of the Lord came to me saying,

Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

9 Zerubbabel’s hands have laid the first stones of this house, and his hands will finish it. Then you will know that the Lord of All has sent me to you.

The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you.

10 W ho has hated the day of small things? Men will be glad when they see Zerubbabel building the walls of the Lord’s house. These seven are the eyes of the Lord which travel over all the earth.”

For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

11 T hen I said to him, “What are these two olive trees on the right and left sides of the lamp-stand?”

Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?

12 A second time I said to him, “What are the two olive branches beside the two gold places that hold the oil to be poured out?”

And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?

13 H e answered me saying, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

14 T hen he said, “These are the two who are set apart to serve the Lord of All the earth.”

Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
