1 H ermanos, ciertamente el anhelo de mi corazón, y mi oración a Dios por Israel, es para salvación.

Brethren, my heart’s desire and goodwill for, I long and pray to God that they may be saved.

2 P orque yo les doy testimonio de que tienen celo de Dios, pero no conforme a ciencia.

I bear them witness that they have a zeal and enthusiasm for God, but it is not enlightened and according to knowledge.

3 P orque ignorando la justicia de Dios, y procurando establecer la suya propia, no se han sujetado a la justicia de Dios;

For being ignorant of the righteousness that God ascribes and seeking to establish a righteousness (a means of salvation) of their own, they did not obey or submit themselves to God’s righteousness.

4 p orque el fin de la ley es Cristo, para justicia a todo aquel que cree.

For Christ is the end of the Law as the means of righteousness (right relationship to God) for everyone who trusts in and adheres to and relies on Him.

5 P orque de la justicia que es por la ley Moisés escribe así: El hombre que haga estas cosas, vivirá por ellas.

For Moses writes that the man who practice the righteousness (perfect conformity to God’s will) which is based on the Law shall live by it.

6 P ero la justicia que es por la fe dice así: No digas en tu corazón: ¿Quién subirá al cielo? (esto es, para traer abajo a Cristo);

But the righteousness based on faith says, Do not say in your heart, Who will ascend into Heaven? that is, to bring Christ down;

7 o , ¿quién descenderá al abismo? (esto es, para hacer subir a Cristo de entre los muertos).

Or who will descend into the abyss? that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.

8 M as ¿qué dice? Cerca de ti está la palabra, en tu boca y en tu corazón. Esta es la palabra de fe que predicamos:

But what does it say? The Word (God’s message in Christ) is near you, on your lips and in your heart; that is, the Word (the message, the basis and object) of faith which we preach,

9 q ue si confesares con tu boca que Jesús es el Señor, y creyeres en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, serás salvo.

Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 P orque con el corazón se cree para justicia, pero con la boca se confiesa para salvación.

For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms salvation.

11 P ues la Escritura dice: Todo aquel que en él creyere, no será avergonzado.

The Scripture says, No man who believes in Him will be put to shame or be disappointed.

12 P orque no hay diferencia entre judío y griego, pues el mismo que es Señor de todos, es rico para con todos los que le invocan;

for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. The same Lord is Lord over all and He generously bestows His riches upon all who call upon Him.

13 p orque todo aquel que invocare el nombre del Señor, será salvo.

For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

14 ¿ Cómo, pues, invocarán a aquel en el cual no han creído? ¿Y cómo creerán en aquel de quien no han oído? ¿Y cómo oirán sin haber quien les predique?

But how are people to call upon Him Whom they have not believed ? And how are they to believe in Him of Whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher?

15 ¿ Y cómo predicarán si no fueren enviados? Como está escrito:!! Cuán hermosos son los pies de los que anuncian la paz, de los que anuncian buenas nuevas!

And how can men preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings!

16 M as no todos obedecieron al evangelio; pues Isaías dice: Señor, ¿quién ha creído a nuestro anuncio?

But they have not all heeded the Gospel; for Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed (had faith in) what he has heard from us?

17 A sí que la fe es por el oír, y el oír, por la palabra de Dios.

So faith comes by hearing, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

18 P ero digo: ¿No han oído? Antes bien, Por toda la tierra ha salido la voz de ellos, Y hasta los fines de la tierra sus palabras.

But I ask, Have they not heard? Indeed they have; Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the far bounds of the world.

19 T ambién digo: ¿No ha conocido esto Israel? Primeramente Moisés dice: Yo os provocaré a celos con un pueblo que no es pueblo; Con pueblo insensato os provocaré a ira. m

Again I ask, Did Israel not understand? First, there is Moses who says, I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation; with a foolish nation I will make you angry.

20 E Isaías dice resueltamente: Fui hallado de los que no me buscaban; Me manifesté a los que no preguntaban por mí. m

Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, I have been found by those who did not seek Me; I have shown (revealed) Myself to those who did not ask for Me.

21 P ero acerca de Israel dice: Todo el día extendí mis manos a un pueblo rebelde y contradictor.

But of Israel he says, All day long I have stretched out My hands to a people unyielding and disobedient and self-willed.
