1 O h, si rompieses los cielos, y descendieras, y a tu presencia se escurriesen los montes,

Oh, that You would rend the heavens and that You would come down, that the mountains might quake and flow down at Your presence—

2 c omo fuego abrasador de fundiciones, fuego que hace hervir las aguas, para que hicieras notorio tu nombre a tus enemigos, y las naciones temblasen a tu presencia!

As when fire kindles the brushwood and the fire causes the waters to boil—to make Your name known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Your presence!

3 C uando, haciendo cosas terribles cuales nunca esperábamos, descendiste, fluyeron los montes delante de ti.

When You did terrible things which we did not expect, You came down; the mountains quaked at Your presence.

4 N i nunca oyeron, ni oídos percibieron, ni ojo ha visto a Dios fuera de ti, que hiciese por el que en él espera.

For from of old no one has heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who works and shows Himself active on behalf of him who waits for Him.

5 S aliste al encuentro del que con alegría hacía justicia, de los que se acordaban de ti en tus caminos; he aquí, tú te enojaste porque pecamos; en los pecados hemos perseverado por largo tiempo; ¿podremos acaso ser salvos?

You meet and spare him who joyfully works righteousness (uprightness and justice), remembering You in Your ways. Behold, You were angry, for we sinned; we have long continued in our sins. And shall we be saved?

6 S i bien todos nosotros somos como suciedad, y todas nuestras justicias como trapo de inmundicia; y caímos todos nosotros como la hoja, y nuestras maldades nos llevaron como viento.

For we have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteousness (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment; we all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

7 N adie hay que invoque tu nombre, que se despierte para apoyarse en ti; por lo cual escondiste de nosotros tu rostro, y nos dejaste marchitar en poder de nuestras maldades.

And no one calls on Your name and awakens and bestirs himself to take and keep hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us and have delivered us into the power of our iniquities.

8 A hora pues, Jehová, tú eres nuestro padre; nosotros barro, y tú el que nos formaste; así que obra de tus manos somos todos nosotros.

Yet, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our Potter, and we all are the work of Your hand.

9 N o te enojes sobremanera, Jehová, ni tengas perpetua memoria de la iniquidad; he aquí, mira ahora, pueblo tuyo somos todos nosotros.

Do not be exceedingly angry, O Lord, or remember iniquity forever. Behold, consider, we beseech You, we are all Your people.

10 T us santas ciudades están desiertas, Sion es un desierto, Jerusalén una soledad.

Your holy cities have become a wilderness; Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

11 L a casa de nuestro santuario y de nuestra gloria, en la cual te alabaron nuestros padres, fue consumida al fuego; y todas nuestras cosas preciosas han sido destruidas.

Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised You, is burned with fire, and all our pleasant and desirable places are in ruins.

12 ¿ Te estarás quieto, oh Jehová, sobre estas cosas? ¿Callarás, y nos afligirás sobremanera?

Considering these, will You restrain Yourself, O Lord ? Will You keep silent and not command our deliverance but humble and afflict us exceedingly?
