1 A conteció después, que Jesús iba por todas las ciudades y aldeas, predicando y anunciando el evangelio del reino de Dios, y los doce con él,

Soon afterward, went on through towns and villages, preaching and bringing the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom of God. And the Twelve were with Him,

2 y algunas mujeres que habían sido sanadas de espíritus malos y de enfermedades: María, que se llamaba Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios,

And also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had been expelled;

3 J uana, mujer de Chuza intendente de Herodes, y Susana, y otras muchas que le servían de sus bienes. Parábola del sembrador (Mt. 13. 1-15, 18-23; Mr. 4. 1-20)

And Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s household manager; and Susanna; and many others, who ministered to and provided for Him and them out of their property and personal belongings.

4 J untándose una gran multitud, y los que de cada ciudad venían a él, les dijo por parábola:

And when a very great throng was gathering together and people from town after town kept coming to Jesus, He said in a parable:

5 E l sembrador salió a sembrar su semilla; y mientras sembraba, una parte cayó junto al camino, y fue hollada, y las aves del cielo la comieron.

A sower went out to sow seed; and as he sowed, some fell along the traveled path and was trodden underfoot, and the birds of the air ate it up.

6 O tra parte cayó sobre la piedra; y nacida, se secó, porque no tenía humedad.

And some fell on the rock, and as soon as it sprouted, it withered away because it had no moisture.

7 O tra parte cayó entre espinos, y los espinos que nacieron juntamente con ella, la ahogaron.

And other fell in the midst of the thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it.

8 Y otra parte cayó en buena tierra, y nació y llevó fruto a ciento por uno. Hablando estas cosas, decía a gran voz: El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga.

And some seed fell into good soil, and grew up and yielded a crop a hundred times. As He said these things, He called out, He who has ears to hear, let him be listening and let him consider and understand by hearing!

9 Y sus discípulos le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Qué significa esta parábola?

And when His disciples asked Him the meaning of this parable,

10 Y él dijo: A vosotros os es dado conocer los misterios del reino de Dios; pero a los otros por parábolas, para que viendo no vean, y oyendo no entiendan.

He said to them, To you it has been given to know (to recognize and understand more strongly and clearly) the mysteries and secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that, looking, they may not see; and hearing, they may not comprehend.

11 E sta es, pues, la parábola: La semilla es la palabra de Dios.

Now the meaning of the parable is this: The seed is the Word of God.

12 Y los de junto al camino son los que oyen, y luego viene el diablo y quita de su corazón la palabra, para que no crean y se salven.

Those along the traveled road are the people who have heard; then the devil comes and carries away the message out of their hearts, that they may not believe ( acknowledge Me as their Savior and devote themselves to Me) and be saved.

13 L os de sobre la piedra son los que habiendo oído, reciben la palabra con gozo; pero éstos no tienen raíces; creen por algún tiempo, y en el tiempo de la prueba se apartan.

And those upon the rock who, when they hear, receive and welcome it with joy; but these have no root. They believe for a while, and in time of trial and temptation fall away (withdraw and stand aloof).

14 L a que cayó entre espinos, éstos son los que oyen, pero yéndose, son ahogados por los afanes y las riquezas y los placeres de la vida, y no llevan fruto.

And as for what fell among the thorns, these are who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked and suffocated with the anxieties and cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not ripen (come to maturity and perfection).

15 M as la que cayó en buena tierra, éstos son los que con corazón bueno y recto retienen la palabra oída, y dan fruto con perseverancia. Nada oculto que no haya de ser manifestado (Mr. 4. 21-25)

But as for that in the good soil, these are who, hearing the Word, hold it fast in a just ( noble, virtuous) and worthy heart, and steadily bring forth fruit with patience.

16 N adie que enciende una luz la cubre con una vasija, ni la pone debajo de la cama, sino que la pone en un candelero para que los que entran vean la luz.

No one after he has lighted a lamp covers it with a vessel or puts it under a couch; but he puts it on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light.

17 P orque nada hay oculto, que no haya de ser manifestado; ni escondido, que no haya de ser conocido, y de salir a luz.

For there is nothing hidden that shall not be disclosed, nor anything secret that shall not be known and come out into the open.

18 M irad, pues, cómo oís; porque a todo el que tiene, se le dará; y a todo el que no tiene, aun lo que piensa tener se le quitará. La madre y los hermanos de Jesús (Mt. 12. 46-50; Mr. 3. 31-35)

Be careful therefore how you listen. For to him who has will more be given; and from him who does not have, even what he thinks and guesses and supposes that he has will be taken away.

19 E ntonces su madre y sus hermanos vinieron a él; pero no podían llegar hasta él por causa de la multitud.

Then Jesus’ mother and His brothers came along toward Him, but they could not get to Him because of the crowd.

20 Y se le avisó, diciendo: Tu madre y tus hermanos están fuera y quieren verte.

And it was told Him, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, desiring to have an interview with You.

21 É l entonces respondiendo, les dijo: Mi madre y mis hermanos son los que oyen la palabra de Dios, y la hacen. Jesús calma la tempestad (Mt. 8. 23-27; Mr. 4. 35-41)

But He answered them, My mother and My brothers are those who listen to the Word of God and do it!

22 A conteció un día, que entró en una barca con sus discípulos, y les dijo: Pasemos al otro lado del lago. Y partieron.

One of those days He and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, Let us go across to the other side of the lake. So they put out to sea.

23 P ero mientras navegaban, él se durmió. Y se desencadenó una tempestad de viento en el lago; y se anegaban y peligraban.

But as they were sailing, He fell off to sleep. And a whirlwind revolving from below upwards swept down on the lake, and the boat was filling with water, and they were in great danger.

24 Y vinieron a él y le despertaron, diciendo:!! Maestro, Maestro, que perecemos! Despertando él, reprendió al viento y a las olas; y cesaron, y se hizo bonanza.

And the disciples came and woke Him, saying, Master, Master, we are perishing! And He, being thoroughly awakened, censured and blamed and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; and they ceased, and there came a calm.

25 Y les dijo: ¿Dónde está vuestra fe? Y atemorizados, se maravillaban, y se decían unos a otros: ¿Quién es éste, que aun a los vientos y a las aguas manda, y le obedecen? El endemoniado gadareno (Mt. 8. 28-34; Mr. 5. 1-20)

And He said to them, Where is your faith (your trust, your confidence in Me—in My veracity and My integrity)? And they were seized with alarm and profound and reverent dread, and they marveled, saying to one another, Who then is this, that He commands even wind and sea, and they obey Him?

26 Y arribaron a la tierra de los gadarenos, que está en la ribera opuesta a Galilea.

Then they came to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.

27 A l llegar él a tierra, vino a su encuentro un hombre de la ciudad, endemoniado desde hacía mucho tiempo; y no vestía ropa, ni moraba en casa, sino en los sepulcros.

Now when Jesus stepped out on land, there met Him a certain man out of the town who had demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he lived not in a house but in the tombs.

28 E ste, al ver a Jesús, lanzó un gran grito, y postrándose a sus pies exclamó a gran voz: ¿Qué tienes conmigo, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo? Te ruego que no me atormentes.

And when he saw Jesus, he raised a deep (terrible) cry and fell down before Him and shouted loudly, What have You with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? '> What have we in common?] I beg You, do not torment me!

29 ( Porque mandaba al espíritu inmundo que saliese del hombre, pues hacía mucho tiempo que se había apoderado de él; y le ataban con cadenas y grillos, pero rompiendo las cadenas, era impelido por el demonio a los desiertos.)

For Jesus was already commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For many times it had snatched and held him; he was kept under guard and bound with chains and fetters, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the wilderness (desert).

30 Y le preguntó Jesús, diciendo: ¿Cómo te llamas? Y él dijo: Legión. Porque muchos demonios habían entrado en él.

Jesus then asked him, What is your name? And he answered, Legion; for many demons had entered him.

31 Y le rogaban que no los mandase ir al abismo.

And they begged not to command them to depart into the Abyss (bottomless pit).

32 H abía allí un hato de muchos cerdos que pacían en el monte; y le rogaron que los dejase entrar en ellos; y les dio permiso.

Now a great herd of swine was there feeding on the hillside; and begged Him to give them leave to enter these. And He allowed them.

33 Y los demonios, salidos del hombre, entraron en los cerdos; y el hato se precipitó por un despeñadero al lago, y se ahogó.

Then the demons came out of the man and entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep cliff into the lake and were drowned.

34 Y los que apacentaban los cerdos, cuando vieron lo que había acontecido, huyeron, y yendo dieron aviso en la ciudad y por los campos.

When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away and told it in the town and in the country.

35 Y salieron a ver lo que había sucedido; y vinieron a Jesús, y hallaron al hombre de quien habían salido los demonios, sentado a los pies de Jesús, vestido, y en su cabal juicio; y tuvieron miedo.

And went out to see what had occurred, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right (sound) mind; and they were seized with alarm and fear.

36 Y los que lo habían visto, les contaron cómo había sido salvado el endemoniado.

And those who had seen it told them how he who had been possessed with demons was restored.

37 E ntonces toda la multitud de la región alrededor de los gadarenos le rogó que se marchase de ellos, pues tenían gran temor. Y Jesús, entrando en la barca, se volvió.

Then all the people of the country surrounding the Gerasenes’ district asked to depart from them, for they were possessed and suffering with dread and terror; so He entered a boat and returned.

38 Y el hombre de quien habían salido los demonios le rogaba que le dejase estar con él; pero Jesús le despidió, diciendo:

But the man from whom the demons had gone out kept begging and praying that he might accompany Him and be with Him, but sent him away, saying,

39 V uélvete a tu casa, y cuenta cuán grandes cosas ha hecho Dios contigo. Y él se fue, publicando por toda la ciudad cuán grandes cosas había hecho Jesús con él. La hija de Jairo, y la mujer que tocó el manto de Jesús (Mt. 9. 18-26; Mr. 5. 21-43)

Return to your home, and recount of how many and great things God has done for you. And departed, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.

40 C uando volvió Jesús, le recibió la multitud con gozo; porque todos le esperaban.

Now when Jesus came back, the crowd received and welcomed Him gladly, for they were all waiting and looking for Him.

41 E ntonces vino un varón llamado Jairo, que era principal de la sinagoga, y postrándose a los pies de Jesús, le rogaba que entrase en su casa;

And there came a man named Jairus, who had '> long time] been a director of the synagogue; and falling at the feet of Jesus, he begged Him to come to his house,

42 p orque tenía una hija única, como de doce años, que se estaba muriendo. Y mientras iba, la multitud le oprimía.

For he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. As went, the people pressed together around Him.

43 P ero una mujer que padecía de flujo de sangre desde hacía doce años, y que había gastado en médicos todo cuanto tenía, y por ninguno había podido ser curada,

And a woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years and had spent all her living upon physicians, and could not be healed by anyone,

44 s e le acercó por detrás y tocó el borde de su manto; y al instante se detuvo el flujo de su sangre.

Came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His garment, and immediately her flow of blood ceased.

45 E ntonces Jesús dijo: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado? Y negando todos, dijo Pedro y los que con él estaban: Maestro, la multitud te aprieta y oprime, y dices: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado?

And Jesus said, Who is it who touched Me? When all were denying it, Peter and those who were with him said, Master, the multitudes surround You and press You on every side!

46 P ero Jesús dijo: Alguien me ha tocado; porque yo he conocido que ha salido poder de mí.

But Jesus said, Someone did touch Me; for I perceived that power has gone forth from Me.

47 E ntonces, cuando la mujer vio que no había quedado oculta, vino temblando, y postrándose a sus pies, le declaró delante de todo el pueblo por qué causa le había tocado, y cómo al instante había sido sanada.

And when the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came up trembling, and, falling down before Him, she declared in the presence of all the people for what reason she had touched Him and how she had been instantly cured.

48 Y él le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha salvado; ve en paz.

And He said to her, Daughter, your faith (your confidence and trust in Me) has made you well! Go (enter) into peace ( untroubled, undisturbed well-being).

49 E staba hablando aún, cuando vino uno de casa del principal de la sinagoga a decirle: Tu hija ha muerto; no molestes más al Maestro.

While He was still speaking, a man from the house of the director of the synagogue came and said, Your daughter is dead; do not weary and trouble the Teacher any further.

50 O yéndolo Jesús, le respondió: No temas; cree solamente, y será salva.

But Jesus, on hearing this, answered him, Do not be seized with alarm or struck with fear; simply believe '> in Me as able to do this], and she shall be made well.

51 E ntrando en la casa, no dejó entrar a nadie consigo, sino a Pedro, a Jacobo, a Juan, y al padre y a la madre de la niña.

And when He came to the house, He permitted no one to enter with Him except Peter and John and James, and the girl’s father and mother.

52 Y lloraban todos y hacían lamentación por ella. Pero él dijo: No lloréis; no está muerta, sino que duerme.

And all were weeping for and bewailing her; but He said, Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.

53 Y se burlaban de él, sabiendo que estaba muerta.

And they laughed Him to scorn, knowing full well that she was dead.

54 M as él, tomándola de la mano, clamó diciendo: Muchacha, levántate.

And grasping her hand, He called, saying, Child, arise '> from the sleep of death]!

55 E ntonces su espíritu volvió, e inmediatamente se levantó; y él mandó que se le diese de comer.

And her spirit returned '> from death], and she arose immediately; and He directed that she should be given something to eat.

56 Y sus padres estaban atónitos; pero Jesús les mandó que a nadie dijesen lo que había sucedido.

And her parents were amazed, but He charged them to tell no one what had occurred.
