1 P ero cierto hombre llamado Ananías, con Safira su mujer, vendió una propiedad,

But a certain man, Ananias by name, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

2 y se quedó con parte del precio, sabiéndolo también su mujer; y trayendo la otra parte, la puso a los pies de los apóstoles.

and put aside for himself part of the price, wife also being privy to it; and having brought a certain part, laid it at the feet of the apostles.

3 M as Pedro dijo: Ananías, ¿por qué ha llenado Satanás tu corazón para mentir al Espíritu Santo, y quedarte con parte del precio del terreno?

But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled thy heart that thou shouldest lie to the Holy Spirit, and put aside for thyself a part of the price of the estate?

4 M ientras estaba sin venderse, ¿no te pertenecía? Y después de vendida, ¿no estaba bajo tu poder? ¿Por qué concebiste este asunto en tu corazón? No has mentido a los hombres sino a Dios.

While it remained did it not remain to thee? and sold, was in thine own power? Why is it that thou hast purposed this thing in thine heart? Thou hast not lied to men, but to God.

5 A l oír Ananías estas palabras, cayó y expiró; y vino un gran temor sobre todos los que lo supieron.

And Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and expired. And great fear came upon all who heard.

6 Y los jóvenes se levantaron y lo cubrieron, y sacándo lo, le dieron sepultura.

And the young men, rising up, swathed him up for burial, and having carried him out, buried him.

7 D espués de un lapso como de tres horas entró su mujer, no sabiendo lo que había sucedido.

And it came to pass about three hours afterwards, that his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.

8 Y Pedro le preguntó: Dime, ¿vendisteis el terreno en tanto? Y ella dijo: Sí, ése fue el precio.

And Peter answered her, Tell me if ye gave the estate for so much? And she said, Yes, for so much.

9 E ntonces Pedro le dijo: ¿Por qué os pusisteis de acuerdo para poner a prueba al Espíritu del Señor ? Mira, los pies de los que sepultaron a tu marido están a la puerta, y te sacarán también a ti.

And Peter said to her, Why that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of Lord? Lo, the feet of those that have buried thy husband at the door, and they shall carry thee out.

10 A l instante ella cayó a los pies de él, y expiró. Al entrar los jóvenes, la hallaron muerta, y la sacaron y le dieron sepultura junto a su marido.

And she fell down immediately at his feet and expired. And when the young men came in they found her dead; and, having carried her out, they buried her by her husband.

11 Y vino un gran temor sobre toda la iglesia, y sobre todos los que supieron estas cosas. Muchas señales y prodigios

And great fear came upon all the assembly, and upon all who heard these things.

12 P or mano de los apóstoles se realizaban muchas señales y prodigios entre el pueblo; y estaban todos unánimes en el pórtico de Salomón.

And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders done among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch,

13 P ero ninguno de los demás se atrevía a juntarse con ellos; sin embargo, el pueblo los tenía en gran estima.

but of the rest durst no man join them, but the people magnified them;

14 Y más y más creyentes en el Señor, multitud de hombres y de mujeres, se añadían constantemente al número de ellos,

and believers were more than ever added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women;)

15 a tal punto que aun sacaban los enfermos a las calles y los tendían en lechos y camillas, para que al pasar Pedro, siquiera su sombra cayera sobre alguno de ellos.

so that they brought out the sick into the streets and put on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter, when he came, might overshadow some one of them.

16 T ambién la gente de las ciudades en los alrededores de Jerusalén acudía trayendo enfermos y atormentados por espíritus inmundos, y todos eran sanados. En la cárcel y libres otra vez

And the multitude also of the cities round about came together to Jerusalem, bringing sick persons and persons beset by unclean spirits, who were all healed.

17 P ero levantándose el sumo sacerdote, y todos los que estaban con él (es decir, la secta de los saduceos ), se llenaron de celo,

And the high priest rising up, and all they that were with him, which is the sect of the Sadducees, were filled with wrath,

18 y echaron mano a los apóstoles y los pusieron en una cárcel pública.

and laid hands on the apostles and put them in the public prison.

19 P ero un ángel del Señor, durante la noche, abrió las puertas de la cárcel, y sacándolos, dijo:

But an angel of Lord during the night opened the doors of the prison, and leading them out, said,

20 I d, y puestos de pie en el templo, hablad al pueblo todo el mensaje de esta Vida.

Go ye and stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

21 H abiendo oído esto, entraron al amanecer en el templo y enseñaban. Cuando llegaron el sumo sacerdote y los que estaban con él, convocaron al concilio, es decir, a todo el senado de los hijos de Israel, y enviaron órdenes a la cárcel para que los trajeran.

And when they heard it, they entered very early into the temple and taught. And when the high priest was come, and they that were with him, they called together the council and all the elderhood of the sons of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

22 P ero los alguaciles que fueron no los encontraron en la cárcel; volvieron, pues, e informaron,

And when the officers were come, they did not find them in the prison; and returned and reported

23 d iciendo: Encontramos la cárcel cerrada con toda seguridad y los guardias de pie a las puertas; pero cuando abrimos, a nadie hallamos dentro.

saying, We found the prison shut with all security, and the keepers standing at the doors; but when we had opened, within we found no one.

24 C uando oyeron estas palabras, el capitán de la guardia del templo y los principales sacerdotes se quedaron muy perplejos a causa de ellos, pensando en qué terminaría aquello.

And when they heard these words, both the priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests were in perplexity as to them, what this would come to.

25 P ero alguien se presentó y les informó: Mirad, los hombres que pusisteis en la cárcel están en el templo enseñando al pueblo.

And some one coming reported to them, Lo, the men whom ye put in the prison are in the temple, standing and teaching the people.

26 E ntonces el capitán fue con los alguaciles y los trajo sin violencia (porque temían al pueblo, no fuera que los apedrearan).

Then the captain, having gone with the officers, brought them, not with violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.

27 C uando los trajeron, los pusieron ante el concilio, y el sumo sacerdote los interrogó,

And they bring them and set them in the council. And the high priest asked them,

28 d iciendo: Os dimos órdenes estrictas de no continuar enseñando en este nombre, y he aquí, habéis llenado a Jerusalén con vuestras enseñanzas, y queréis traer sobre nosotros la sangre de este hombre.

saying, We strictly enjoined you not to teach in this name: and lo, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and purpose to bring upon us the blood of this man.

29 M as respondiendo Pedro y los apóstoles, dijeron: Debemos obedecer a Dios antes que a los hombres.

But Peter answering, and the apostles, said, God must be obeyed rather than men.

30 E l Dios de nuestros padres resucitó a Jesús, a quien vosotros habíais matado colgándole en una cruz.

The God of our fathers has raised up Jesus, whom ye have slain, having hanged on a cross.

31 A éste Dios exaltó a su diestra como Príncipe y Salvador, para dar arrepentimiento a Israel, y perdón de pecados.

Him has God exalted by his right hand as leader and saviour, to give repentance to Israel and remission of sins.

32 Y nosotros somos testigos de estas cosas; y también el Espíritu Santo, el cual Dios ha dado a los que le obedecen. El consejo de Gamaliel

And we are witnesses of these things, and the Holy Spirit also, which God has given to those that obey him.

33 C uando ellos oyeron esto, se sintieron profundamente ofendidos y querían matarlos.

But they, when they heard, were cut to the heart, and took counsel to kill them.

34 P ero cierto fariseo llamado Gamaliel, maestro de la ley, respetado por todo el pueblo, se levantó en el concilio y ordenó que sacaran fuera a los hombres por un momento.

But a certain, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, held in honour of all the people, rose up in the council, and commanded to put the men out for a short while,

35 Y les dijo: Varones de Israel, tened cuidado de lo que vais a hacer con estos hombres.

and said to them, Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves as regards these men what ye are going to do;

36 P orque hace algún tiempo Teudas se levantó pretendiendo ser alguien; y un grupo como de cuatrocientos hombres se unió a él. Y fue muerto, y todos los que lo seguían fueron dispersos y reducidos a nada.

for before these days Theudas rose up, alleging himself to be somebody, to whom a number of men, about four hundred, were joined; who was slain, and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed and came to nothing.

37 D espués de él, se levantó Judas de Galilea en los días del censo, y llevó mucha gente tras sí; él también pereció, y todos los que lo seguían se dispersaron.

After him rose Judas the Galilean in the days of the census, and drew away people after him; and he perished, and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.

38 P or tanto, en este caso os digo: no tengáis nada que ver con estos hombres y dejadlos en paz, porque si este plan o acción es de los hombres, perecerá;

And now I say to you, Withdraw from these men and let them alone, for if this counsel or this work have its origin from men, it will be destroyed;

39 p ero si es de Dios, no podréis destruirlos; no sea que os halléis luchando contra Dios.

but if it be from God, ye will not be able to put them down, lest ye be found also fighters against God.

40 E llos aceptaron su consejo, y después de llamar a los apóstoles, los azotaron y les ordenaron que no hablaran en el nombre de Jesús y los soltaron.

And they listened to his advice; and having called the apostles, they beat them, and enjoined them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and dismissed them.

41 E llos, pues, salieron de la presencia del concilio, regocijándose de que hubieran sido tenidos por dignos de padecer afrenta por su Nombre.

They therefore went their way from presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be dishonoured for the name.

42 Y todos los días, en el templo y de casa en casa, no cesaban de enseñar y predicar a Jesús como el Cristo.

And every day, in the temple and in the houses, they ceased not teaching and announcing the glad tidings that Jesus the Christ.
