1 A ñadió Eliú y dijo:

Elihu also proceeded, and said,

2 E spérame un poco, y te enseñaré; Porque todavía tengo razones en defensa de Dios.

Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.

3 T raeré mi saber desde lejos, Y atribuiré justicia a mi Hacedor.

I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

4 P orque de cierto no son mentira mis palabras; Contigo está uno que tiene perfecto conocimiento.

For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.

5 H e aquí que Dios es grande, pero no desestima a nadie; Es poderoso en fuerza y en sabiduría.

Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

6 N o otorgará vida al impío, Pero a los afligidos dará su derecho.

He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.

7 N o apartará de los justos sus ojos; Antes bien como reyes los pondrá en trono para siempre, Y serán exaltados.

He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

8 Y cuando los ata con cadenas, Y los aprisiona en las cuerdas de aflicción,

And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;

9 E s para darles a conocer la obra de ellos, Y sus rebeliones, porque obraron con soberbia.

Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

10 D espierta además el oído de ellos para su corrección, Y les exhorta a que se conviertan de la iniquidad.

He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

11 S i obedecen, y le sirven, Acabarán sus días en bienestar, Y sus años en dicha.

If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

12 P ero si no obedecen, serán pasados a espada, Y perecerán en su ignorancia.

But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

13 M as los obstinados de corazón atesoran para sí la ira, Y no claman a él ni aun cuando él los castiga.

But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

14 F allecerá el alma de su juventud, Y su vida entre los sodomitas.

They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.

15 A l pobre librará de su pobreza, Y a través de la aflicción despertará su oído.

He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.

16 T ambién a ti te apartará de la boca de la angustia A lugar espacioso, libre de todo apuro, Y te preparará mesa llena de grosura.

Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.

17 M as tú estás lleno del juicio del impío, En vez de sustentar el derecho y la justicia.

But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.

18 P or cuanto hay ira, ten cuidado de que no te seduzca la abundancia, Ni te corrompa el rico soborno.

Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

19 ¿ Hará él estima de tus riquezas, del oro, O de todas las fuerzas de tu poder?

Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.

20 N o anheles en la noche, El que los pueblos desaparezcan de su lugar.

Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.

21 G uárdate, no te vuelvas a la iniquidad; Pues ésta escogiste a causa de tu aflicción.

Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.

22 H e aquí que Dios es excelso en su poder; ¿Qué enseñador será semejante a él?

Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?

23 ¿ Quién le ha prescrito su camino? ¿Y quién le dirá: Has obrado mal?

Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?

24 A cuérdate de engrandecer su obra, La cual han ensalzado tantos otros hombres.

Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.

25 L os hombres todos la ven; La miran los mortales de lejos.

Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.

26 H e aquí, Dios es grande, y nosotros no le podemos comprender, Ni se puede escrutar el número de sus años.

Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

27 É l va soltando las gotas de las aguas, Al transformarse el vapor en lluvia,

For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:

28 L a cual destilan las nubes, O caen en chaparrones sobre los hombres.

Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.

29 ¿ Quién podrá comprender la extensión de las nubes, Y el fragor estrepitoso de su morada?

Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?

30 H e aquí que en torno a sí mismo extiende su luz, Y asienta su trono en las profundidades del mar.

Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.

31 B ien que por esos medios castiga a los pueblos, A la multitud él da sustento.

For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.

32 C ubre sus manos con relámpagos, Y manda al rayo que vaya derecho a dar en el blanco.

With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.

33 E l trueno declara su indignación, Y la tempestad proclama su ira contra la iniquidad.

The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
