1 D e veinte años era Acaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y dieciséis años reinó en Jerusalén; mas no hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, como David su padre.

Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord, like David his father:

2 A ntes anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel, llegando a fundir imágenes de los baales.

For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for Baalim.

3 Q uemó también incienso en el valle de los hijos de Hinom, e hizo pasar a sus hijos por fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de las naciones que Jehová había arrojado de la presencia de los hijos de Israel.

Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

4 A simismo sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, en los collados, y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

5 P or lo cual Jehová su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los sirios, los cuales lo derrotaron, y le tomaron gran número de prisioneros que llevaron a Damasco. Fue también entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual lo batió con gran mortandad.

Wherefore the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

6 P orque Peka hijo de Remalías mató en Judá en un día ciento veinte mil hombres valientes, por cuanto habían dejado a Jehová el Dios de sus padres.

For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.

7 A simismo Zicrí, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías hijo del rey, a Azricam su mayordomo, y a Elcaná, segundo después del rey.

And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.

8 T ambién los hijos de Israel tomaron cautivos de sus hermanos a doscientos mil, mujeres, muchachos y muchachas, además de haber tomado de ellos mucho botín que llevaron a Samaria.

And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

9 H abía entonces allí un profeta de Jehová que se llamaba Obed, el cual salió delante del ejército cuando entraba en Samaria, y les dijo: He aquí, Jehová el Dios de vuestros padres, por el enojo contra Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos; y vosotros los habéis matado con un furor que ha llegado hasta el cielo.

But a prophet of the Lord was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the Lord God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage that reacheth up unto heaven.

10 Y ahora habéis determinado someter a los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén como esclavos y esclavas; mas ¿no habéis pecado vosotros contra Jehová vuestro Dios?

And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not with you, even with you, sins against the Lord your God?

11 O ídme, pues, ahora, y devolved los cautivos que habéis tomado de vuestros hermanos; porque el furor de la cólera de Jehová está contra vosotros.

Now hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the Lord is upon you.

12 E ntonces se levantaron algunos varones de los principales de los hijos de Efraín, Azarías hijo de Johanán, Berequías hijo de Mesilemot, Ezequías hijo de Salum, y Amasá hijo de Hadlay, contra los que venían de la guerra.

Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,

13 Y les dijeron: No traigáis aquí a los cautivos, porque el pecado contra Jehová estará sobre nosotros. Vosotros tratáis de añadir sobre nuestros pecados y sobre nuestras culpas, que ya son demasiado grandes, y el ardor de la ira está contra Israel.

And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for whereas we have offended against the Lord already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

14 E ntonces el ejército dejó los cautivos y el botín delante de los príncipes y de toda la multitud.

So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.

15 Y se levantaron los varones nombrados, y tomaron a los cautivos, y del despojo vistieron a los que de ellos estaban desnudos; los vistieron, los calzaron, y les dieron de comer y de beber, los ungieron, y condujeron en asnos a todos los débiles, y los llevaron hasta Jericó, ciudad de las palmeras, cerca de sus hermanos; y ellos se volvieron a Samaria.

And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

16 E n aquel tiempo envió a pedir el rey Acaz a los reyes de Asiria que le ayudasen.

At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.

17 P orque también los edomitas habían venido y atacado a los de Judá, y habían llevado cautivos.

For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.

18 A simismo los filisteos se habían extendido por las ciudades de la llanura y del Négueb de Judá, y habían tomado Bet-semes, Ajalón, Gederot, Socó con sus aldeas, Timná también con sus aldeas, y Gimzó con sus aldeas; y habitaban en ellas.

The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Bethshemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.

19 P orque Jehová había humillado a Judá por causa de Acaz rey de Israel, por cuanto él había actuado desenfrenadamente en Judá, y había prevaricado gravemente contra Jehová.

For the Lord brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he made Judah naked, and transgressed sore against the Lord.

20 T ambién vino contra él Tilgat-pilneser rey de los asirios, quien lo redujo a estrechez, y no le ayudó.

And Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.

21 N o obstante que despojó Acaz la casa de Jehová, y la casa real, y las de los príncipes, para dar al rey de los asirios, éste no le ayudó.

For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the Lord, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.

22 A demás el rey Acaz en el tiempo que aquél le apuraba, añadió mayor pecado contra Jehová;

And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the Lord: this is that king Ahaz.

23 p orque ofreció sacrificios a los dioses de Damasco que le habían derrotado, y dijo: Pues que los dioses de los reyes de Siria les ayudan, yo también ofreceré sacrificios a ellos para que me ayuden; bien que fueron éstos su ruina, y la de todo Israel.

For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.

24 A demás de eso, recogió Acaz los utensilios de la casa de Dios, y los quebró, y cerró las puertas de la casa de Jehová, y se hizo altares en todos los rincones de Jerusalén.

And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the Lord, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

25 H izo también lugares altos en todas las ciudades de Judá, para quemar incienso a los dioses ajenos, provocando así a ira a Jehová el Dios de sus padres.

And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the Lord God of his fathers.

26 L os demás de sus hechos, y todos sus caminos, primeros y postreros, he aquí están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

Now the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

27 Y durmió Acaz con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de Jerusalén, pero no lo metieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Ezequías su hijo.

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
