1 E ntonces, llamando a sus doce discípulos, les dio autoridad sobre los espíritus inmundos, para que los echasen fuera, y para sanar toda clase de enfermedades y dolencias.

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

2 L os nombres de los doce apóstoles son éstos: primero Simón, el llamado Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; Jacobo hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan su hermano;

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

3 F elipe y Bartolomé, Tomás y Mateo el publicano, Jacobo hijo de Alfeo y Lebeo, por sobrenombre Tadeo,

Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

4 S imón el cananita, y Judas el Iscariote, el que también le entregó. Misión de los doce

Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

5 A estos doce envió Jesús, y les dio instrucciones, diciendo: No vayáis por camino de gentiles, ni entréis en ciudad de samaritanos,

These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

6 s ino id más bien a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel.

But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7 Y al ir, predicad, diciendo: El reino de los cielos se ha acercado.

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

8 S anad enfermos, limpiad leprosos, resucitad muertos, echad fuera demonios; de regalo recibisteis, dad de regalo.

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

9 N o os proveáis de oro, ni plata, ni cobre en vuestros cintos;

Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

10 n i de alforja para el camino, ni de dos túnicas, ni de calzado, ni de bastón; porque el obrero es digno de su sustento.

Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

11 M as en cualquier ciudad o aldea donde entréis, informaos quién es digno en ella, y quedaos allí hasta que os marchéis.

And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

12 Y al entrar en la casa, saludadla.

And when ye come into an house, salute it.

13 Y si la casa es digna, vuestra paz vendrá sobre ella; pero si no es digna, vuestra paz se volverá a vosotros.

And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

14 Y si alguno no os recibe, ni oye vuestras palabras, al salir de aquella casa o ciudad, sacudid el polvo de vuestros pies.

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

15 D e cierto os digo que en el día del juicio, será más tolerable el castigo para la tierra de Sodoma y de Gomorra, que para aquella ciudad. Las persecuciones futuras

Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

16 H e aquí que yo os envío como a ovejas en medio de lobos; sed, pues, prudentes como las serpientes, y sencillos como las palomas.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

17 Y guardaos de los hombres, porque os entregarán a los tribunales, y os azotarán en sus sinagogas.

But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

18 S eréis llevados por causa de mí aun ante gobernadores y reyes, para testimonio a ellos y a los gentiles.

And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

19 M as cuando os entreguen, no os preocupéis por cómo o qué hablaréis; porque os será dado en aquella hora lo que habéis de hablar.

But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

20 P orque no sois vosotros los que habláis, sino el Espíritu de vuestro Padre el que habla en vosotros.

For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

21 H ermano entregará a la muerte a hermano, y padre a hijo; y los hijos se levantarán contra sus padres, y los harán morir.

And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

22 Y seréis aborrecidos de todos por causa de mi nombre; mas el que persevere hasta el fin, éste será salvo.

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

23 C uando os persigan en esta ciudad, huid a la otra; porque de cierto os digo, que no acabaréis de recorrer las ciudades de Israel, antes que venga el Hijo del Hombre.

But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

24 E l discípulo no está por encima de su maestro, ni el siervo sobre su amo.

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

25 B ástale al discípulo llegar a ser como su maestro, y al criado como su amo. Si al padre de familia llamaron Beelzebú, ¡cuánto más a los de su casa! Aviso contra la hipocresía

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

26 A sí que, no los temáis; porque no hay nada oculto, que no haya de ser manifestado; ni secreto, que no haya de saberse.

Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

27 L o que os digo en la oscuridad, decidlo a plena luz; y lo que oís al oído, proclamadlo desde las azoteas.

What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

28 Y no temáis a los que matan el cuerpo, mas no pueden matar el alma; temed más bien a aquel que puede destruir alma y cuerpo en el infierno.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29 ¿ No se venden dos gorriones por un cuarto? Con todo, ni uno de ellos caerá a tierra sin consentirlo vuestro Padre.

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

30 Y en cuanto a vosotros, hasta los cabellos de vuestra cabeza están todos contados.

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31 A sí que, no temáis; vosotros valéis más que muchos pajarillos.

Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

32 A cualquiera, pues, que me confiese delante de los hombres, yo también le confesaré delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33 Y a cualquiera que me niegue delante de los hombres, yo también le negaré delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos. Jesucristo, causa de división

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

34 N o penséis que he venido para traer paz a la tierra; no he venido para traer paz, sino espada.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35 P orque he venido para enfrentar al hombre contra su padre, a la hija contra su madre, y a la nuera contra su suegra;

For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36 y serán enemigos del hombre, los de su casa.

And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

37 E l que ama a su padre o a su madre más que a mí, no es digno de mí; el que ama a su hijo o a su hija más que a mí, no es digno de mí;

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

38 y el que no toma su cruz y sigue en pos de mí, no es digno de mí.

And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

39 E l que halla su vida, la perderá; y el que pierde su vida por causa de mí, la hallará. Recompensas

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

40 E l que a vosotros recibe, a mí me recibe; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe al que me envió.

He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

41 E l que recibe a un profeta por cuanto es profeta, recibirá recompensa de profeta; y el que recibe a un justo por cuanto es justo, recibirá recompensa de justo.

He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

42 Y cualquiera que dé de beber aunque sólo sea un vaso de agua fresca a uno de estos pequeñuelos por cuanto es discípulo, de cierto os digo que no perderá su recompensa.

And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
