1 Y o pues, preso en el Señor, os exhorto a que andéis como es digno de la vocación con que fuisteis llamados,

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2 c on toda humildad y mansedumbre, soportándoos con paciencia los unos a los otros en amor,

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 s olícitos en guardar la unidad del Espíritu en el vínculo de la paz.

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4 H ay un solo cuerpo, y un solo Espíritu, como también fuisteis llamados en una misma esperanza de vuestra vocación;

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5 u n Señor, una fe, un bautismo,

One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 u n Dios y Padre de todos, el cual está sobre todos, por todos, y en todos.

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

7 P ero a cada uno de nosotros fue dada la gracia conforme a la medida del don de Cristo.

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

8 P or lo cual dice: Subiendo a lo alto, llevó cautiva la cautividad, Y dio dones a los hombres.

Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9 Y eso de que subió, ¿qué es, sino que también había descendido primero a las partes más bajas de la tierra?

(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 E l que descendió, es el mismo que también subió por encima de todos los cielos para llenarlo todo.

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

11 Y él mismo dio: unos, los apóstoles; otros, los profetas; otros, los evangelistas; y otros, los pastores y maestros,

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 a fin de equipar completamente a los santos para la obra del ministerio, para la edificación del cuerpo de Cristo,

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 h asta que todos lleguemos a la unidad de la fe y del pleno conocimiento del Hijo de Dios, a la condición de un hombre maduro, a la medida de la edad de la plenitud de Cristo;

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 p ara que ya no seamos niños, zarandeados por las olas y llevados a la deriva por todo viento de doctrina, por estratagema de hombres que para engañar emplean con astucia las artimañas del error,

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 s ino que aferrándonos a la verdad en amor, crezcamos en todo hacia aquel que es la cabeza, esto es, Cristo,

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16 d e quien todo el cuerpo, bien ajustado y trabado entre sí por todas las junturas que se ayudan mutuamente, según la actividad adecuada de cada miembro, recibe su crecimiento para ir edificándose en amor. Nueva vida en Cristo

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

17 E sto, pues, digo y requiero en el Señor: que ya no andéis como los demás gentiles, que andan en la vanidad de su mente,

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

18 t eniendo el entendimiento entenebrecido, excluidos de la vida de Dios por la ignorancia que hay en ellos, por la dureza de su corazón;

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

19 l os cuales, después que perdieron toda sensibilidad, se entregaron a la lascivia para cometer con avidez toda clase de impureza.

Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

20 M as vosotros no habéis aprendido así a Cristo,

But ye have not so learned Christ;

21 s i en verdad habéis oído de él, y habéis sido enseñados en él, conforme a la verdad que está en Jesús,

If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

22 a que, en cuanto a la pasada manera de vivir, os despojéis del viejo hombre, que está viciado conforme a los deseos engañosos,

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 o s renovéis en el espíritu de vuestra mente,

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 y os vistáis del nuevo hombre, creado a semejanza de Dios en la justicia y santidad de la verdad.

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25 P or lo cual, desechando la mentira, hablad verdad cada uno con su prójimo; porque somos miembros los unos de los otros.

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26 A iraos, pero no pequéis; no se ponga el sol sobre vuestro enojo,

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 n i deis lugar al diablo.

Neither give place to the devil.

28 E l que hurtaba, ya no hurte más, sino que trabaje, haciendo con sus manos lo que es bueno, para que tenga qué compartir con el que padece necesidad.

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

29 N inguna palabra corrompida salga de vuestra boca, sino la que sea buena para edificación según la necesidad, a fin de dar gracia a los oyentes.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 Y no contristéis al Espíritu Santo de Dios, con el cual fuisteis sellados para el día de la redención.

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

31 Q uítense de vosotros toda amargura, enojo, ira, gritería y maledicencia, y toda malicia.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

32 A ntes bien, sed benignos unos con otros, misericordiosos, perdonándoos unos a otros, como también Dios os perdonó a vosotros en Cristo.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
