1 H ubo hambre en los días de David por tres años consecutivos. Y David consultó a Jehová, y Jehová le respondió: Es por causa de Saúl, y por aquella casa de sangre, por cuanto mató a los gabaonitas.

Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

2 E ntonces el rey llamó a los gabaonitas, y les habló. (Los gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino del resto de los amorreos, a los cuales los hijos de Israel habían hecho juramento; pero Saúl había procurado matarlos en su celo por los hijos de Israel y de Judá.)

And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)

3 D ijo, pues, David a los gabaonitas: ¿Qué haré por vosotros, o qué satisfacción os daré, para que bendigáis la heredad de Jehová?

Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the Lord ?

4 Y los gabaonitas le respondieron: No tenemos nosotros querella sobre plata ni sobre oro con Saúl y con su casa; ni queremos que muera hombre de Israel. Y él les dijo: Lo que vosotros digáis, haré.

And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.

5 E llos respondieron al rey: De aquel hombre que nos destruyó, y que maquinó contra nosotros para exterminarnos sin dejar nada de nosotros en todo el territorio de Israel,

And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,

6 d énsenos siete varones de sus hijos, para que los ahorquemos delante de Jehová en Guibeá de Saúl el escogido de Jehová. Y el rey dijo: Yo los daré.

Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, whom the Lord did choose. And the king said, I will give them.

7 Y perdonó el rey a Mefi-bóset hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, por el juramento de Jehová que hubo entre ellos, entre David y Jonatán hijo de Saúl.

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the Lord 's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

8 P ero tomó el rey a dos hijos de Rizpá hija de Ajá, los cuales ella había tenido de Saúl, Armoní y Mefi-bóset, y a cinco hijos de Merab hija de Saúl, los cuales ella había tenido de Adriel hijo de Barzilay meholatita,

But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:

9 y los entregó en manos de los gabaonitas, y ellos los ahorcaron en el monte delante de Jehová; y así murieron juntos aquellos siete, los cuales fueron muertos en los primeros días de la siega, al comenzar la siega de la cebada.

And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the Lord: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.

10 E ntonces Rizpá hija de Ajá tomó una tela de cilicio y la tendió para sí sobre el peñasco, desde el principio de la siega hasta que llovió sobre ellos agua del cielo; y no dejó que ninguna ave del cielo se posase sobre ellos de día, ni fieras del campo de noche.

And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.

11 Y fue dicho a David lo que hacía Rizpá hija de Ajá, concubina de Saúl.

And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.

12 E ntonces David fue y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo, de los hombres de Jabés de Galaad, que los habían hurtado de la plaza de Bet-sán, donde los habían colgado los filisteos, cuando los filisteos mataron a Saúl en Gilboa;

And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabeshgilead, which had stolen them from the street of Bethshan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:

13 e hizo llevar de allí los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo; y los juntaron con los huesos de los ahorcados.

And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.

14 Y sepultaron los huesos de Saúl y los de su hijo Jonatán en tierra de Benjamín, en Zelá, en el sepulcro de Cis su padre; e hicieron todo lo que el rey había mandado. Y Dios fue propicio a la tierra después de esto. Abisay libra a David del gigante

And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.

15 V olvieron los filisteos a hacer la guerra a Israel, y descendió David y sus siervos con él, y pelearon con los filisteos; y David se hallaba extenuado.

Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.

16 E Isbí-benob, uno de los descendientes de los gigantes, cuya lanza pesaba trescientos siclos de bronce, y quien estaba ceñido con una espada nueva, trató de matar a David;

And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.

17 m as Abisay hijo de Sarvia llegó en su ayuda, e hirió al filisteo y lo mató. Entonces los hombres de David le juraron, diciendo: Nunca más de aquí en adelante saldrás con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que se nos apague la antorcha de Israel. Los hombres de David matan a los gigantes

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.

18 O tra segunda guerra hubo después en Gob contra los filisteos; entonces Sibecay husatita mató a Saf, quien era uno de los descendientes de los gigantes.

And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.

19 H ubo otra vez guerra en Gob contra los filisteos, en la cual Elhanán, hijo de Jaaré-oregim de Belén, mató a Goliat geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como el rodillo de un telar.

And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.

20 D espués hubo otra guerra en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura, el cual tenía doce dedos en las manos, y otros doce en los pies, veinticuatro por todos; y también era descendiente de los gigantes.

And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.

21 É ste desafió a Israel, y lo mató Jonatán, hijo de Simá hermano de David.

And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimeah the brother of David slew him.

22 E stos cuatro eran descendientes de los gigantes en Gat, los cuales sucumbieron a manos de David y de sus veteranos.

These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
