1 O ráculo sobre Babilonia, que vio Isaías hijo de Amoz.

The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

2 L evantad bandera sobre un alto monte; gritadles, agitad la mano, para que entren por las puertas de los nobles.

Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

3 Y o mandé a mis consagrados; sí, yo llamé a mis valientes para ejecutar mi ira, a los que se alegran de mi victoria.

I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

4 E struendo de multitud en los montes, como de mucha gente; estruendo de ruido de reinos, de naciones reunidas; Jehová de los ejércitos pasa revista a las tropas para la batalla.

The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

5 V ienen de tierra lejana, de lo más lejano de los cielos, Jehová y las armas de su ira, para destruir toda la tierra.

They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the Lord, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

6 A ullad, porque cerca está el día de Jehová; vendrá como terrible azote del Todopoderoso.

Howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

7 A causa de ello, toda mano se debilitará, y desfallecerá todo corazón de hombre,

Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:

8 y se llenarán de terror; angustias y apuros se apoderarán de ellos; tendrán dolores como mujer de parto; se asustará cada cual al mirar a su compañero; sus rostros, rostros de llamas.

And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

9 H e aquí que el día de Jehová viene, terrible, y lleno de indignación y ardor de ira, para convertir la tierra en soledad, y raer de ella a sus pecadores.

Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

10 P ues las estrellas de los cielos y sus constelaciones no darán su luz; el sol se oscurecerá al nacer, y la luna no dará su resplandor.

For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

11 Y castigaré al mundo por su maldad, y a los impíos por su iniquidad; pondré fin a la arrogancia de los soberbios, y abatiré la altivez de los tiranos.

And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

12 H aré más escaso que el oro fino al varón, y más que el oro de Ofir al hombre.

I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

13 P or tanto, haré estremecer los cielos, y la tierra será sacudida de su lugar, por la indignación de Jehová de los ejércitos en el día del ardor de su ira.

Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

14 Y como gacela perseguida, y como oveja sin pastor, cada cual enfilará hacia su pueblo, y cada uno huirá a su tierra.

And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

15 C ualquiera que sea hallado será alanceado; y cualquiera que por ellos sea apresado, caerá a espada.

Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

16 S us niños serán estrellados ante sus ojos; sus casas serán saqueadas, y violadas sus mujeres.

Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

17 H e aquí que yo despierto contra ellos a los medos, que no estiman la plata, ni codician el oro.

Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

18 C on arco derribarán a los jóvenes, y no tendrán misericordia del fruto del vientre, ni su ojo perdonará a los niños.

Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.

19 Y Babilonia, la joya de los reinos, prez y orgullo de los caldeos, será como cuando destruyó Dios a Sodoma y Gomorra.

And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

20 N unca más será habitada, ni se morará en ella de generación en generación; ni levantará allí tienda el árabe, ni los pastores tendrán allí majada;

It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

21 s ino que dormirán allí las fieras del desierto, y sus casas se llenarán de hurones; allí habitarán avestruces, y allí saltarán las cabras salvajes.

But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

22 E n sus castillos aullarán hienas, y chacales en sus casas de recreo. Su hora está al llegar, y sus días no se prolongarán.

And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
