1 V inieron a mí algunos de los ancianos de Israel, y se sentaron delante de mí.

Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.

2 Y vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

3 H ijo de hombre, estos hombres han puesto sus ídolos en su corazón, y han colocado delante de su rostro lo que les hace caer en sus pecados. ¿Acaso he de ser consultado yo en modo alguno por ellos?

Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?

4 H áblales, por tanto, y diles: Así dice el Señor Jehová: Todo hombre de la casa de Israel que haya puesto sus ídolos en su corazón, y colocado delante de su rostro lo que le es ocasión de pecado, y venga al profeta, yo Jehová responderé al que venga conforme a la multitud de sus ídolos,

Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the Lord will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;

5 p ara prender a la casa de Israel por su propio corazón, ya que se han apartado de mí todos ellos a causa de sus ídolos.

That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

6 P or tanto, di a la casa de Israel: Así dice el Señor Jehová: Convertíos, y volveos de vuestros ídolos, y apartad vuestro rostro de todas vuestras abominaciones.

Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

7 P orque cualquier hombre de la casa de Israel, y de los extranjeros que residen en Israel, que se aparte de andar en pos de mí, y ponga sus ídolos en su corazón, y coloque delante de su rostro lo que le hace caer en pecado, y venga al profeta para preguntarle por mí, yo Jehová le responderé por mí mismo;

For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the Lord will answer him by myself:

8 y pondré mi rostro contra aquel hombre, y le pondré por ejemplo y por escarmiento, y lo cortaré de en medio de mi pueblo; y sabréis que yo soy Jehová.

And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

9 Y cuando el profeta se deje seducir y hable palabra, yo Jehová seré quien habrá seducido al tal profeta; y extenderé mi mano contra él, y lo exterminaré de en medio de mi pueblo Israel.

And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the Lord have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

10 Y llevarán ambos el castigo de su maldad; como la maldad del que consulte, así será la maldad del profeta,

And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;

11 p ara que la casa de Israel no se desvíe más de en pos de mí, ni se contamine más con todas sus transgresiones; sino que me sean por pueblo, y yo les sea por Dios, dice el Señor Jehová. Consolación de Jerusalén por la justicia

That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord God.

12 V ino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

The word of the Lord came again to me, saying,

13 H ijo de hombre, si un país peca contra mí transgrediendo gravemente, y extiendo yo mi mano sobre él, y le quebranto el sustento del pan, y envío sobre él hambre, y extermino en él hombres y bestias,

Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:

14 a unque estuviesen en medio de él estos tres varones, Noé, Daniel y Job, ellos por su justicia librarían únicamente sus propias vidas, dice el Señor Jehová.

Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord God.

15 S i hago pasar bestias feroces por la tierra y la dejan sin gente, y queda desolada de modo que no haya quien pase a causa de las fieras,

If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:

16 a unque estos tres varones estuviesen en medio de ella, vivo yo, dice el Señor Jehová, ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas librarían; ellos solos serían librados, y la tierra quedaría desolada.

Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.

17 O si yo traigo espada sobre la tierra, y digo: Espada, pasa por la tierra; y hago exterminar de ella hombres y bestias,

Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:

18 a unque estos tres varones estuviesen en medio de ella, vivo yo, dice el Señor Jehová, no librarían a sus hijos ni a sus hijas; ellos solos serían librados.

Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.

19 O si envío peste sobre esa tierra y derramo mi ira sobre ella en sangre, para exterminar de ella hombres y bestias,

Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:

20 a unque estuviesen en medio de ella Noé, Daniel y Job, vivo yo, dice el Señor Jehová, no librarían a hijo ni a hija; ellos por su justicia librarían solamente sus propias vidas.

Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

21 P ues así dice el Señor Jehová: ¡Cuánto más cuando yo envíe contra Jerusalén mis cuatro juicios terribles, espada, hambre, fieras y peste, para exterminar de ella hombres y bestias!

For thus saith the Lord God; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

22 S in embargo, he aquí que quedará en ella un remanente, hijos e hijas, que serán llevados fuera; he aquí que cuando vengan a vosotros, y veáis su camino y sus hechos, seréis consolados del mal que hice venir sobre Jerusalén, de todas las cosas que traje sobre ella.

Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

23 Y os consolarán cuando veáis su camino y sus hechos, y conoceréis que no sin causa hice todo lo que he hecho en ella, dice el Señor Jehová.

And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord God.
