1 Y COMO vió Balaam que parecía bien á Jehová que el bendijese á Israel, no fué, como la primera y segunda vez, á encuentro de agüeros, sino que puso su rostro hacia el desierto;

And Balaam saw that it was good in the sight of Jehovah to bless Israel, and he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

2 Y alzando sus ojos, vió á Israel alojado por sus tribus; y el espíritu de Dios vino sobre él.

And Balaam lifted up his eyes and saw Israel dwelling according to his tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.

3 E ntonces tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, Y dijo el varón de ojos abiertos:

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, and the man of opened eye saith,

4 D ijo el que oyó los dichos de Dios, El que vió la visión del Omnipotente; Caído, mas abiertos los ojos:

He saith, who heareth the words of God, who seeth the vision of the Almighty, who falleth down, and who hath his eyes open:

5 C uán hermosas son tus tiendas, oh Jacob, Tus habitaciones, oh Israel!

How goodly are thy tents, Jacob, and thy tabernacles, Israel!

6 C omo arroyos están extendidas, Como huertos junto al río, Como lináloes plantados por Jehová, Como cedros junto á las aguas.

Like valleys are they spread forth, like gardens by the river side, Like aloe-trees which Jehovah hath planted, like cedars beside the waters.

7 D e sus manos destilarán aguas, Y su simiente será en muchas aguas: Y ensalzarse ha su rey más que Agag, Y su reino será ensalzado.

Water shall flow out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in great waters, And his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

8 D ios lo sacó de Egipto; Tiene fuerzas como de unicornio: Comerá á las gentes sus enemigas, Y desmenuzará sus huesos, Y asaeteará con sus saetas.

God brought him out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of a buffalo. He shall consume the nations his enemies, and break their bones, and with his arrows shall smite in pieces.

9 S e encorvará para echarse como león, Y como leona; ¿quién lo despertará? Benditos los que te bendijeren, Y malditos los que te maldijeren.

He stooped, he lay down like a lion, and like a lioness: who will stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

10 E ntonces se encendió la ira de Balac contra Balaam, y batiendo sus palmas le dijo: Para maldecir á mis enemigos te he llamado, y he aquí los has resueltamente bendecido ya tres veces.

Then Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and behold, thou hast altogether blessed these three times!

11 H úyete, por tanto, ahora á tu lugar: yo dije que te honraría, mas he aquí que Jehová te ha privado de honra.

And now flee thou to thy place; I said I would very highly honour thee, and behold, Jehovah has kept thee back from honour.

12 Y Balaam le respondió: ¿No lo declaré yo también á tus mensajeros que me enviaste, diciendo:

And Balaam said to Balak, Did I not also speak to thy messengers whom thou sentest to me, saying,

13 S i Balac me diése su casa llena de plata y oro, yo no podré traspasar el dicho de Jehová para hacer cosa buena ni mala de mi arbitrio; mas lo que Jehová hablare, eso diré yo?

If Balak gave me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the commandment of Jehovah to do good or bad out of my heart: what Jehovah shall say, that will I speak?

14 H e aquí yo me voy ahora á mi pueblo: por tanto, ven, te indicaré lo que este pueblo ha de hacer á tu pueblo en los postrimeros días.

And now behold, I go to my people: come, I will admonish thee what this people will do to thy people at the end of days.

15 Y tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, Dijo el varón de ojos abiertos:

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, and the man of opened eye saith,

16 D ijo el que oyó los dichos de Jehová, Y el que sabe la ciencia del Altísimo, El que vió la visión del Omnipotente; Caído, mas abiertos los ojos:

He saith, who heareth the words of God, who knoweth the knowledge of the Most High, Who seeth the vision of the Almighty, who falleth down, and who hath his eyes open:

17 V erélo, mas no ahora: Lo miraré, mas no de cerca: Saldrá ESTRELLA de Jacob, Y levantaráse cetro de Israel, Y herirá los cantones de Moab, Y destruirá á todos los hijos de Seth.

I shall see him, but not now; I shall behold him, but not nigh: There cometh a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and he shall cut in pieces the corners of Moab, and destroy all the sons of tumult.

18 Y será tomada Edom, Será también tomada Seir por sus enemigos, E Israel se portará varonilmente.

And Edom shall be a possession, and Seir a possession,—they, his enemies; but Israel will do valiantly.

19 Y el de Jacob se enseñoreará, Y destruirá de la ciudad lo que quedare.

And one out of Jacob shall have dominion, and will destroy out of the city what remaineth.

20 Y viendo á Amalec, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Amalec, cabeza de gentes; Mas su postrimería perecerá para siempre.

And he saw Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, Amalek is the first of the nations, but his latter end shall be for destruction.

21 Y viendo al Cineo, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Fuerte es tu habitación, Pon en la peña tu nido:

And he saw the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Firm is thy dwelling-place, and thy nest fixed in the rock;

22 Q ue el Cineo será echado, Cuando Assur te llevará cautivo.

But the Kenite shall be consumed, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.

23 T odavía tomó su parábola, y dijo: ­Ay! ¿quién vivirá cuando hiciere Dios estas cosas?

And he took up his parable, and said, Alas! Who shall live when God doeth this?

24 Y vendrán navíos de la costa de Cittim, Y afligirán á Assur, afligirán también á Eber: Mas él también perecerá para siempre.

And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and afflict Asshur, and afflict Eber, and he also shall be for destruction.

25 E ntonces se levantó Balaam, y se fué, y volvióse á su lugar: y también Balac se fué por su camino.

And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.
