1 Y respondió Bildad suhita, y dijo:

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

2 ¿ Hasta cuándo hablarás tales cosas, y las palabras de tu boca serán como un viento fuerte?

How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

3 ¿ Por ventura pervertirá Dios el derecho, o el Todopoderoso pervertirá la justicia?

Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

4 P orque tus hijos pecaron contra él, él los echó en el lugar de su rebelión.

If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

5 S i tú de mañana buscares a Dios, y rogares al Todopoderoso;

If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

6 s i fueres limpio y derecho, cierto luego se despertará sobre ti, y hará próspera la morada de tu justicia.

If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

7 D e tal manera que tu principio habrá sido pequeño, en comparación del grande crecimiento de tu postrimería.

Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

8 P orque pregunta ahora a la edad pasada, y disponte para inquirir de sus padres de ellas;

For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

9 p orque nosotros somos desde ayer, y no sabemos, siendo nuestros días sobre la tierra como sombra.

(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

10 ¿ Por ventura ellos no te enseñarán, te dirán, y de su corazón sacarán estas palabras?

Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

11 ¿ Crece el junco sin lodo? ¿Crece el prado sin agua?

Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?

12 A un él en su verdor sin haber sido cortado, y antes de toda hierba se seca.

Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.

13 T ales son los caminos de todos los que olvidan a Dios; y la esperanza del hipócrita perecerá.

So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

14 P orque su esperanza será cortada, y su confianza es casa de araña.

Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.

15 E l se apoyará sobre su casa, pero no permanecerá en pie; se asirá a ella, más no se afirmará.

He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

16 A manera de un árbol, está verde delante del sol, y sus renuevos salen sobre su huerto;

He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.

17 s e van entretejiendo sus raíces junto a una fuente, y enlazándose hasta un lugar pedregoso.

His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.

18 S i le arrancaren de su lugar, éste le negará entonces, diciendo: Nunca te vi.

If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

19 C iertamente éste será el gozo de su camino; y de la tierra de donde se traspusiere, retoñarán otros.

Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.

20 H e aquí, Dios no aborrece al perfecto, ni toma la mano de los malignos.

Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:

21 A un llenará tu boca de risa, y tus labios de gritos de alegría.

Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

22 L os que te aborrecen, serán vestidos de confusión; y la habitación de los impíos perecerá.

They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
