1 E l Señor DIOS me mostró así; y he aquí, él criaba langostas al principio que comenzaba a crecer el heno tardío; y he aquí que el heno tardío creció después de las siegas del rey.

Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.

2 Y acaeció que como acabó de comer la hierba de la tierra, yo dije: Señor DIOS, perdona ahora; ¿quién levantará a Jacob? Porque es pequeño.

And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

3 S e arrepintió el SEÑOR de esto: No será, dijo el SEÑOR.

The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the Lord.

4 E l Señor DIOS después me mostró así: y he aquí, llamaba para juzgar por fuego el Señor DIOS; y consumió un gran abismo, y consumió la heredad.

Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.

5 Y dije: Señor DIOS, cesa ahora; ¿quién levantará a Jacob? Porque es pequeño.

Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

6 S e arrepintió el SEÑOR de esto: No será esto tampoco, dijo el Señor DIOS.

The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord God.

7 M e enseñó también así: He aquí, el Señor estaba sobre un muro edificado a plomada de albañil, y tenía en su mano una plomada de albañil.

Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

8 Y el SEÑOR entonces me dijo: ¿Qué ves, Amós? Y dije: Una plomada de albañil. Y el Señor dijo: He aquí, Yo pongo plomada de albañil en medio de mi pueblo Israel. Nunca más le pasaré;

And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

9 y los altares de Isaac serán destruidos, y los santuarios de Israel serán asolados; y me levantaré con espada sobre la casa de Jeroboam.

And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

10 E ntonces Amasías sacerdote de Bet-el envió a decir a Jeroboam, rey de Israel: Amós se ha conjurado contra ti en medio de la Casa de Israel; la tierra no puede ya sufrir todas sus palabras.

Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

11 P orque así ha dicho Amós: Jeroboam morirá a espada, e Israel pasará de su tierra en cautiverio.

For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.

12 Y Amasías dijo a Amós: Vidente, vete, y huye a tierra de Judá, y come allá tu pan, y profetiza allá;

Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

13 y no profetices más en Bet-el, porque es santuario del rey, y cabecera del reino.

But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court.

14 E ntonces respondió Amós, y dijo a Amasías: No soy profeta, ni soy hijo de profeta, sino que soy boyero, y cogedor de higos silvestres;

Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:

15 y el SEÑOR me tomó detrás del ganado, y me dijo el SEÑOR: Ve, y profetiza a mi pueblo Israel.

And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

16 A hora, pues, oye palabra del SEÑOR. Tú dices: No profetices contra Israel, ni hables contra la casa de Isaac:

Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.

17 P or tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR: Tu mujer fornicará en la ciudad, y tus hijos y tus hijas caerán a espada, y tu tierra será partida por suertes; y tú morirás en tierra inmunda, e Israel será traspasado de su tierra.

Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
