1 A nd it came to pass after a time, in the days of the wheat-harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid of the goats. And he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber; but her father would not suffer him to go in.

Aconteció después de algún tiempo, que en los días de la siega del trigo Sansón visitó a su mujer con un cabrito, diciendo: Entraré a mi mujer en el aposento. Mas el padre de ella no lo dejó entrar.

2 A nd her father said, I verily thought that thou didst utterly hate her; therefore I gave her to thy companion. Is not her younger sister fairer than she? Let her, I pray thee, be thine instead of her.

Y dijo el padre de ella: Me persuadí de que la aborrecías, y la di a tu compañero. Mas su hermana menor, ¿no es más hermosa que ella? Tómala, pues, en su lugar.

3 A nd Samson said to them, This time I am blameless toward the Philistines, though I do them harm.

Entonces le dijo Sansón: Sin culpa seré esta vez respecto de los filisteos, si mal les hiciere.

4 A nd Samson went and caught three hundred jackals, and took torches, and turned tail to tail, and put a torch in the midst between the two tails.

Y fue Sansón y cazó trescientas zorras, y tomó teas, y juntó cola con cola, y puso una tea entre cada dos colas.

5 A nd he set the torches on fire, and let run into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, and the olive gardens.

Después, encendiendo las teas, soltó las zorras en los sembrados de los filisteos, y quemó las mieses amontonadas y en pie, viñas y olivares.

6 A nd the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they answered, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burned her and her father with fire.

Y dijeron los filisteos: ¿Quién hizo esto? Y les contestaron: Sansón, el yerno del timnateo, porque le quitó su mujer y la dio a su compañero. Y vinieron los filisteos y la quemaron a ella y a su padre.

7 A nd Samson said to them, If ye act thus, for a certainty I will avenge myself on you, and then I will cease.

Entonces Sansón les dijo: Ya que así habéis hecho, juro que me vengaré de vosotros, y después desistiré.

8 A nd he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter. And he went down and dwelt in the cleft of the cliff Etam.

Y los hirió cadera y muslo con gran mortandad; y descendió y habitó en la cueva de la peña de Etam. Sansón derrota a los filisteos en Lehi

9 A nd the Philistines went up, and encamped in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.

Entonces los filisteos subieron y acamparon en Judá, y se extendieron por Lehi.

10 A nd the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they said, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he has done to us.

Y los varones de Judá les dijeron: ¿Por qué habéis subido contra nosotros? Y ellos respondieron: A prender a Sansón hemos subido, para hacerle como él nos ha hecho.

11 T hen three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the cliff Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines rule over us? And what is this that thou hast done to us? And he said to them, As they did to me, so have I done to them.

Y vinieron tres mil hombres de Judá a la cueva de la peña de Etam, y dijeron a Sansón: ¿No sabes tú que los filisteos dominan sobre nosotros? ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? Y él les respondió: Yo les he hecho como ellos me hicieron.

12 A nd they said to him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may give thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said to them, Swear to me that ye will not fall on me yourselves.

Ellos entonces le dijeron: Nosotros hemos venido para prenderte y entregarte en mano de los filisteos. Y Sansón les respondió: Juradme que vosotros no me mataréis.

13 A nd they spoke to him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand; but we certainly shall not put thee to death. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the cliff.

Y ellos le respondieron, diciendo: No; solamente te prenderemos, y te entregaremos en sus manos; mas no te mataremos. Entonces le ataron con dos cuerdas nuevas, y le hicieron venir de la peña.

14 W hen he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him. And the Spirit of Jehovah came upon him, and the cords that were on his arms became as threads of flax that are burned with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

Y así que vino hasta Lehi, los filisteos salieron gritando a su encuentro; pero el Espíritu de Jehová vino sobre él, y las cuerdas que estaban en sus brazos se volvieron como lino quemado con fuego, y las ataduras se cayeron de sus manos.

15 A nd he found a fresh jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand and took it, and slew with it a thousand men.

Y hallando una quijada de asno fresca aún, extendió la mano y la tomó, y mató con ella a mil hombres.

16 A nd Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, a heap, two heaps, With the jawbone of an ass have I slain a thousand men.

Entonces Sansón dijo: Con la quijada de un asno, un montón, dos montones; Con la quijada de un asno maté a mil hombres. m

17 A nd it came to pass when he had ended speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-Lehi.

Y acabando de hablar, arrojó de su mano la quijada, y llamó a aquel lugar Ramat-lehi.

18 A nd he was very thirsty, and called on Jehovah, and said, Thou hast given by the hand of thy servant this great deliverance, and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?

Y teniendo gran sed, clamó luego a Jehová, y dijo: Tú has dado esta grande salvación por mano de tu siervo; ¿y moriré yo ahora de sed, y caeré en mano de los incircuncisos?

19 A nd God clave the hallow rock which was in Lehi, and water came out of it. And he drank, and his spirit came again, and he revived. Therefore its name was called En-hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.

Entonces abrió Dios la cuenca que hay en Lehi; y salió de allí agua, y él bebió, y recobró su espíritu, y se reanimó. Por esto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar, En-hacore, el cual está en Lehi, hasta hoy.

20 A nd he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.

Y juzgó a Israel en los días de los filisteos veinte años.
