1 D avid therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.

Davi fugiu da cidade de Gate e foi para a caverna de Adulão. Quando seus irmãos e a família de seu pai souberam disso, foram até lá para encontrá-lo.

2 A nd every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

Também juntaram-se a ele todos os que estavam em dificuldades, os endividados e os descontentes; e ele se tornou o líder deles. Havia cerca de quatrocentos homens com ele.

3 A nd David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

De lá Davi foi para Mispá, em Moabe, e disse ao rei de Moabe: “Posso deixar meu pai e minha mãe virem para cá e ficarem contigo até que eu saiba o que Deus fará comigo?”

4 A nd he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.

E assim ele os deixou com o rei de Moabe, e lá eles ficaram enquanto Davi permaneceu na fortaleza.

5 A nd the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

Contudo, o profeta Gade disse a Davi: “Não fique na fortaleza. Vá para Judá”. Então Davi foi para a floresta de Herete. Saul Mata os Sacerdotes de Nobe

6 W hen Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)

Saul ficou sabendo que Davi e seus homens tinham sido descobertos. Saul estava sentado, com a lança na mão, debaixo da tamargueira, na colina de Gibeá, com todos os seus oficiais ao redor,

7 t hen Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;

e ele lhes disse: “Ouçam, homens de Benjamim! Será que o filho de Jessé dará a todos vocês terras e vinhas? Será que ele os fará todos comandantes de mil e comandantes de cem?

8 t hat all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

É por isso que todos vocês têm conspirado contra mim? Ninguém me informa quando meu filho faz acordo com o filho de Jessé. Nenhum de vocês se preocupa comigo nem me avisa que meu filho incitou meu servo a ficar à minha espreita, como ele está fazendo hoje”.

9 T hen answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

Entretanto, Doegue, o edomita, que estava com os oficiais de Saul, disse: “Vi o filho de Jessé chegar em Nobe e encontrar-se com Aimeleque, filho de Aitube.

10 A nd he enquired of the Lord for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

Aimeleque consultou o Senhor em favor dele; também lhe deu provisões e a espada de Golias, o filisteu”.

11 T hen the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.

Então o rei mandou chamar o sacerdote Aimeleque, filho de Aitube, e toda a família de seu pai, que eram os sacerdotes em Nobe, e todos foram falar com o rei.

12 A nd Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

E Saul disse: “Ouça agora, filho de Aitube”. Ele respondeu: “Sim, meu senhor”.

13 A nd Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

Saul lhe disse: “Por que vocês conspiraram contra mim, você e o filho de Jessé? Porque você lhe deu comida e espada, e consultou a Deus em favor dele, para que se rebelasse contra mim e me armasse cilada, como ele está fazendo?”

14 T hen Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?

Aimeleque respondeu ao rei: “Quem dentre todos os teus oficiais é tão leal quanto Davi, o genro do rei, capitão de sua guarda pessoal e altamente respeitado em sua casa?

15 D id I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.

Será que foi essa a primeira vez que consultei a Deus em favor dele? Certamente que não! Que o rei não acuse a mim, seu servo, nem a qualquer um da família de meu pai, pois seu servo nada sabe acerca do que está acontecendo”.

16 A nd the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.

O rei, porém, disse: “Com certeza você será morto, Aimeleque, você e toda a família de seu pai”.

17 A nd the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the Lord; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord.

Em seguida o rei ordenou aos guardas que estavam ao seu lado: “Matem os sacerdotes do Senhor, pois eles também apóiam Davi. Sabiam que ele estava fugindo, mas nada me informaram”. Contudo, os oficiais do rei recusaram erguer as mãos para matar os sacerdotes do Senhor.

18 A nd the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

Então o rei ordenou a Doegue: “Mate os sacerdotes”, e ele os matou. E naquele dia, matou oitenta e cinco homens que vestiam túnica de linho.

19 A nd Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

Além disso, Saul mandou matar os habitantes de Nobe, a cidade dos sacerdotes: homens, mulheres, crianças, recém-nascidos, bois, jumentos e ovelhas.

20 A nd one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

Entretanto, Abiatar, filho de Aimeleque e neto de Aitube, escapou e fugiu para juntar-se a Davi,

21 A nd Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the Lord’s priests.

e lhe contou que Saul havia matado os sacerdotes do Senhor.

22 A nd David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.

Então Davi disse a Abiatar: “Naquele dia, quando o edomita Doegue estava ali, eu sabia que ele não deixaria de levar a informação a Saul. Sou responsável pela morte de toda a família de seu pai.

23 A bide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

Fique comigo, não tenha medo; o homem que está atrás de sua vida também está atrás da minha. Mas você estará a salvo comigo”.
