1 A scultaţi lucrul acesta, Casă a lui Iacov, voi, care sunteţi chemaţi cu numele lui Israel şi care vă trageţi din Iuda, voi, care juraţi pe Numele Domnului şi-L chemaţi pe Dumnezeul lui Israel, dar nu în adevăr sau dreptate,

Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

2 c hiar dacă vă numiţi pe voi înşivă după Cetatea Sfântă şi vă bizuiţi pe Dumnezeul lui Israel, al Cărui Nume este Domnul Oştirilor!

For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The Lord of hosts is his name.

3 L ucrurile de dinainte le-am prevestit demult, gura Mea le-a vestit, Eu le-am făcut cunoscute; apoi, dintr-odată, am lucrat, iar ele s-au împlinit.

I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.

4 P entru că ştiu că eşti încăpăţânat şi tendoanele gâtului tău sunt de fier, iar fruntea de bronz,

Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

5 d e aceea ţi-am vestit aceste lucruri demult. Înainte să se împlinească ţi le-am vestit, ca nu cumva să zici: ‘Idolul meu le-a făcut, chipul meu cioplit şi chipul meu turnat le-a poruncit!’

I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

6 A i auzit. Acum uită-te la toate acestea! De ce nu vrei să recunoşti? De acum te voi face să auzi lucruri noi, taine pe care nu le cunoşti.

Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

7 E le sunt create acum, şi nu în vechime. Până azi tu n-ai mai auzit de ele, ca să poţi spune: ‘Le ştiam deja.’

They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

8 N u, nu le-ai auzit, nici nu le-ai cunoscut, urechea ta nemaifiind demult deschisă, căci am ştiut că te vei purta cu necredincioşie şi că, încă de la naştere, ai fost numit răzvrătit.

Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

9 P entru Numele Meu întârzii mânia Mea şi pentru lauda Mea o opresc faţă de tine, ca să nu te nimicesc.

For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

10 I ată, te-am curăţat, dar nu ca pe argint, ci te-am încercat în cuptorul suferinţei.

Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

11 D e dragul Meu, de dragul Meu fac aceasta, căci de ce să fie profanat Numele Meu? Slava Mea n-o voi da altuia. Israel răscumpărat

For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

12 A scultă-Mă, Iacove, Israele, pe care te-am chemat! Eu sunt Acela! Eu sunt Cel dintâi şi Cel de pe urmă!

Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

13 M âna Mea a pus temeliile pământului şi dreapta Mea a întins cerurile; când le chem ele se înfăţişează împreună.

Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

14 A dunaţi-vă cu toţii şi ascultaţi! Care dintre idoli a prevestit aceste lucruri? El, cel iubit de Domnul, Îi va îndeplini planul împotriva Babilonului, iar braţul său va fi împotriva caldeenilor.

All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The Lord hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

15 E u, chiar Eu am vorbit! Eu l-am chemat, Eu l-am adus, iar el îşi va îndeplini misiunea!

I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

16 A propiaţi-vă de Mine şi ascultaţi aceasta! De la început n-am vorbit în ascuns; când s-au petrecut aceste lucruri, Eu eram acolo. Acum, Stăpânul Domn m-a trimis împreună cu Duhul Său.»

Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

17 A şa vorbeşte Domnul, Răscumpărătorul tău, Sfântul lui Israel: «Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, Care te învaţă ce este spre binele tău, Care te conduce pe calea pe care trebuie să mergi.

Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

18 O , de-ai fi luat aminte la poruncile Mele, pacea ta ar fi fost ca un râu, iar dreptatea ta ca valurile mării;

O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

19 u rmaşii tăi ar fi fost ca nisipul, ca boabele lui ar fi fost copiii tăi şi niciodată nu ar fi fost şters sau nimicit numele lor dinaintea Mea!»

Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

20 P ărăsiţi Babilonul! Fugiţi dintre caldeeni! Cu un strigăt de bucurie vestiţi şi proclamaţi! Trimiteţi vestea până la marginile pământului! Spuneţi: « Domnul l-a răscumpărat pe robul Său Iacov!»

Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

21 E i n-au însetat când i-a condus prin pustie; El a făcut să curgă pentru ei apă din stâncă; a despicat stânca şi a ţâşnit apă.

And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

22 « Pentru cei răi, zice Domnul, nu este pace.»

There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.
