1 C uvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

2 „ Fiul omului, vrei să judeci? Vrei să judeci cetatea cea setoasă de sânge? Atunci fă-i cunoscute toate urâciunile!

Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt shew her all her abominations.

3 S pune-i că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Cetate care verşi sânge în mijlocul tău ca să-ţi grăbeşti ceasul şi care-ţi faci idoli ca să te spurci,

Then say thou, Thus saith the Lord God, The city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to defile herself.

4 t e-ai făcut vinovată din cauza sângelui pe care l-ai vărsat şi a idolilor pe care ţi i-ai făcut ca să te spurci! Ţi-ai apropiat astfel ziua şi ai ajuns la capătul anilor tăi! De aceea te voi face de batjocura neamurilor şi de râsul tuturor ţărilor.

Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.

5 C ei de aproape şi cei de departe îşi vor bate joc de tine, căci eşti vestită ca necurată şi plină de tulburări!

Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall mock thee, which art infamous and much vexed.

6 I ată că în tine fiecare dintre prinţii lui Israel se foloseşte de puterea lui ca să verse sânge.

Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in thee to their power to shed blood.

7 Î n tine, tatăl şi mama sunt necinstiţi, străinul din mijlocul tău este jecmănit, iar orfanul şi văduva sunt asupriţi.

In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.

8 A i dispreţuit lucrurile Mele sfinte şi Mi-ai pângărit Sabatele.

Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths.

9 Î n tine sunt cei ce defaimă ca să verse sânge, în tine sunt cei ce mănâncă pe munţi şi cei ce se desfrânează în mijlocul tău.

In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit lewdness.

10 Î n tine se descoperă goliciunea tatălui şi în tine este necinstită femeia în perioada necurăţiei ei.

In thee have they discovered their fathers' nakedness: in thee have they humbled her that was set apart for pollution.

11 Î n tine, fiecare se dedă la urâciuni cu soţia semenului său, fiecare îşi pângăreşte prin incest nora şi fiecare îşi necinsteşte sora, fiica tatălui său.

And one hath committed abomination with his neighbour's wife; and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father's daughter.

12 Î n tine, se ia mită ca să se verse sânge; tu iei dobândă şi camătă, câştigi de pe urma prietenului tău, jecmănindu-l, iar pe Mine M-ai uitat, zice Stăpânul Domn.

In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord God.

13 I ată, bat din palme din cauza tâlhăriilor pe care le-ai săvârşit şi din cauza sângelui care a fost vărsat în mijlocul tău.

Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee.

14 Î ţi va rezista oare inima sau îţi vor fi mâinile destul de tari în ziua în care mă voi ocupa de tine? Eu, Domnul, am vorbit şi voi face întocmai.

Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the Lord have spoken it, and will do it.

15 T e voi împrăştia printre neamuri, te voi risipi în ţări străine şi voi pune astfel capăt necurăţiei din mijlocul tău.

And I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee.

16 C ând te vei fi întinat înaintea neamurilor vei şti că Eu sunt Domnul. »“

And thou shalt take thine inheritance in thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

17 C uvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

18 „ Fiul omului, cei din Casa lui Israel au ajuns pentru Mine ca zgura de metal: toţi sunt aramă, cositor, fier şi plumb, în mijlocul furnalului; au ajuns ca zgura de argint.

Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.

19 D e aceea, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Pentru că toţi aţi devenit zgură, iată că vă voi strânge în mijlocul Ierusalimului.

Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.

20 A şa cum se strânge argintul, arama, fierul, plumbul şi cositorul în mijlocul furnalului şi se suflă în foc ca să se topească, tot aşa vă voi strânge şi Eu în mânia şi furia Mea, vă voi lăsa în mijlocul Ierusalimului şi vă voi topi.

As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.

21 D a, vă voi strânge şi voi sufla peste voi cu focul înverşunării Mele, astfel că veţi fi topiţi în mijlocul Ierusalimului.

Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst therof.

22 A şa cum se topeşte argintul în mijlocul furnalului, tot aşa veţi fi şi voi topiţi în mijlocul Ierusalimului şi veţi şti că Eu, Domnul, Mi-am revărsat furia peste voi.»“

As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the Lord have poured out my fury upon you.

23 C uvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

24 „ Fiul omului, spune-i ţării astfel: «Tu eşti o ţară necurăţită, neudată de ploaie în ziua indignării!»

Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.

25 P rinţii ei uneltesc în mijlocul ei precum leul care răcneşte când îşi sfâşie prada; ei mănâncă suflete şi îşi însuşesc bogăţii şi lucruri scumpe, astfel că numărul văduvelor sporeşte în mijlocul ţării.

There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

26 P reoţii ei încalcă Legea Mea şi întinează lucrurile Mele sfinte; ei nu fac diferenţă între ce este sfânt şi ce este obişnuit şi nu învaţă pe alţii să facă diferenţă între ce este necurat şi ce este curat. De Sabatele Mele nu vor să mai audă şi astfel Eu sunt necinstit în mijlocul lor.

Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

27 C onducătorii săi sunt în mijlocul ei asemenea lupilor care-şi sfâşie prada; ei varsă sânge şi pierd suflete ca să obţină un câştig necinstit.

Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

28 P rofeţii din mijlocul ei au pentru aceştia o tencuială din ipsos – viziuni deşarte şi preziceri mincinoase. Ei zic: «Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn!» Dar Domnul nu le-a vorbit.

And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken.

29 P oporul din ţară se dedă la furt, se ocupă cu tâlhăria, asupreşte pe sărac şi pe nevoiaş şi jecmăneşte străinul, ignorând dreptatea.

The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

30 A m căutat printre ei un om care să zidească zidul şi să stea în spărtură înaintea Mea pentru ţară, ca să nu o nimicesc, dar nu am găsit nici unul.

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

31 P rin urmare, Îmi voi revărsa peste ei indignarea, îi voi nimici cu focul înverşunării Mele şi voi face ca umbletele lor să cadă asupra capetelor lor, zice Stăpânul Domn.“

Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.
