1 L isten to this, you fat cows of Bashan who are on the mountain of Samaria. You make it hard for the poor. You crush those in need. You say to your husbands, “Bring us something to drink!”

Oíd esta palabra, vacas de Basán, que estáis en el monte de Samaria, las que oprimís a los pobres, quebrantáis a los menesterosos, y decís a vuestros maridos: Traed ahora, para que bebamos.

El Señor Dios ha jurado por su santidad: He aquí, vienen sobre vosotras días en que os llevarán con garfios, y a vuestro remanente con anzuelos.

Saldréis por las brechas, una tras otra, y seréis expulsadas al Harmón —declara el Señor.

Entrad en Betel y pecad, multiplicad en Gilgal las transgresiones; traed vuestros sacrificios cada mañana, vuestros diezmos cada tres días.

Ofreced también pan leudado en ofrenda de gratitud, y proclamad ofrendas voluntarias, dad las a conocer, puesto que así os place, hijos de Israel —declara el Señor Dios.

6 “ I kept food from your teeth in all your cities. I did not let you have enough bread in all your places. Yet you have not returned to Me,” says the Lord.

Yo también os he dado dientes limpios en todas vuestras ciudades, y falta de pan en todos vuestros lugares; pero os no habéis vuelto a mí —declara el Señor.

7 “ I kept the rain from you while there were still three months until gathering time. Then I would send rain on one city, but would send no rain on another city. One part would receive rain, while the part which did not receive rain would dry up.

Y además os retuve la lluvia cuando aún faltaban tres meses para la siega; hice llover sobre una ciudad y sobre otra ciudad no hice llover; sobre una parte llovía, y la parte donde no llovía, se secó.

8 P eople would go from city to city to drink water, but would not get enough. Yet you have not returned to Me,” says the Lord.

Así que de dos o tres ciudades iban tambaleándose a otra ciudad para beber agua, y no se saciaban; pero no os habéis vuelto a mí —declara el Señor.

9 “ I sent hot wind to dry up your fields. The locust destroyed your many gardens and grape-fields, fig trees and olive trees. Yet you have not returned to Me,” says the Lord.

Os herí con viento abrasador y con añublo; y la oruga ha devorado vuestros muchos huertos y viñedos, vuestras higueras y vuestros olivos; pero no os habéis vuelto a mí —declara el Señor.

10 “ I sent a very bad disease upon you as I had done to Egypt. I killed your young men with the sword and took your horses away. I filled your nose with the bad smell of your camp. Yet you have not returned to Me,” says the Lord.

Envié contra vosotros una plaga, como la plaga de Egipto, maté a espada a vuestros jóvenes, junto con vuestros caballos capturados, e hice subir hasta vuestras narices el hedor de vuestro campamento; pero no os habéis vuelto a mí —declara el Señor.

11 “ I destroyed some of you as I destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick pulled out of the fire. Yet you have not returned to Me,” says the Lord.

Os destruí como Dios destruyó a Sodoma y a Gomorra, y fuisteis como tizón arrebatado de la hoguera; pero no os habéis vuelto a mí —declara el Señor.

12 “ So I will do this to you, O Israel. And because I will do this to you, get ready to meet your God, O Israel.”

Por tanto, así haré contigo, Israel; y porque te he de hacer esto, prepárate para encontrarte con tu Dios, oh Israel.

13 H e is the One Who makes the mountains and the wind. He makes His thoughts known to man. He turns the morning into darkness, and walks on the high places of the earth. The Lord God of All is His name.

Pues he aquí el que forma los montes, crea el viento y declara al hombre cuáles son sus pensamientos, el que del alba hace tinieblas y camina sobre las alturas de la tierra: el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos, es su nombre.
