1 T he transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.

(36: 1) Au chef des chantres. Du serviteur de l'Éternel, de David. (36: 2) La parole impie du méchant est au fond de mon coeur; La crainte de Dieu n'est pas devant ses yeux.

2 F or he flattereth himself in his own eyes, That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.

(36: 3) Car il se flatte à ses propres yeux, Pour consommer son iniquité, pour assouvir sa haine.

3 T he words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He hath ceased to be wise and to do good.

(36: 4) Les paroles de sa bouche sont fausses et trompeuses; Il renonce à agir avec sagesse, à faire le bien.

4 H e deviseth iniquity upon his bed; He setteth himself in a way that is not good; He abhorreth not evil.

(36: 5) Il médite l'injustice sur sa couche, Il se tient sur une voie qui n'est pas bonne, Il ne repousse pas le mal.

5 T hy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the skies.

(36: 6) Éternel! ta bonté atteint jusqu'aux cieux, Ta fidélité jusqu'aux nues.

6 T hy righteousness is like the mountains of God; Thy judgments are a great deep: O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast.

(36: 7) Ta justice est comme les montagnes de Dieu, Tes jugements sont comme le grand abîme. Éternel! tu soutiens les hommes et les bêtes.

7 H ow precious is thy lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.

(36: 8) Combien est précieuse ta bonté, ô Dieu! A l'ombre de tes ailes les fils de l'homme cherchent un refuge.

8 T hey shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; And thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

(36: 9) Ils se rassasient de l'abondance de ta maison, Et tu les abreuves au torrent de tes délices.

9 F or with thee is the fountain of life: In thy light shall we see light.

(36: 10) Car auprès de toi est la source de la vie; Par ta lumière nous voyons la lumière.

10 O h continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee, And thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

(36: 11) Étends ta bonté sur ceux qui te connaissent, Et ta justice sur ceux dont le coeur est droit!

11 L et not the foot of pride come against me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.

(36: 12) Que le pied de l'orgueil ne m'atteigne pas, Et que la main des méchants ne me fasse pas fuir!

12 T here are the workers of iniquity fallen: They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.

(36: 13) Déjà tombent ceux qui commettent l'iniquité; Ils sont renversés, et ils ne peuvent se relever.
