1 P or tanto, si hay algún estímulo en Cristo, si hay algún consuelo de amor, si hay alguna comunión del Espíritu, si algún afecto y compasión,

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 h agan completo mi gozo, siendo del mismo sentir, conservando el mismo amor, unidos en espíritu, dedicados a un mismo propósito.

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 N o hagan nada por egoísmo (rivalidad) o por vanagloria, sino que con actitud humilde cada uno de ustedes considere al otro como más importante que a sí mismo,

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 n o buscando cada uno sus propios intereses, sino más bien los intereses de los demás.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 H aya, pues, en ustedes esta actitud (esta manera de pensar) que hubo también en Cristo Jesús,

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 e l cual, aunque existía en forma de Dios, no consideró el ser igual a Dios como algo a qué aferrarse,

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 s ino que Se despojó a sí mismo tomando forma de siervo, haciéndose semejante a los hombres.

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 Y hallándose en forma de hombre, se humilló El mismo, haciéndose obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 P or lo cual Dios también Lo exaltó hasta lo sumo, y Le confirió el nombre que es sobre todo nombre,

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 p ara que al nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que están en el cielo, y en la tierra, y debajo de la tierra,

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es Señor, para gloria de Dios Padre. Exhortación a la Obediencia

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 A sí que, amados míos, tal como siempre han obedecido, no sólo en mi presencia, sino ahora mucho más en mi ausencia, ocúpense en su salvación con temor y temblor.

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

13 P orque Dios es quien obra en ustedes tanto el querer como el hacer, para Su buena intención.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

14 H agan todas las cosas sin murmuraciones ni discusiones,

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

15 p ara que sean irreprensibles y sencillos, hijos de Dios sin tacha en medio de una generación torcida y perversa, en medio de la cual ustedes resplandecen como luminares en el mundo,

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

16 s osteniendo firmemente la palabra de vida, a fin de que yo tenga motivo para gloriarme en el día de Cristo, ya que no habré corrido en vano ni habré trabajado en vano.

Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

17 P ero aunque yo sea derramado como libación (ofrenda líquida) sobre el sacrificio y servicio de su fe, me regocijo y comparto mi gozo con todos ustedes.

Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

18 Y también ustedes, les ruego, regocíjense de la misma manera, y compartan su gozo conmigo. Timoteo y Epafrodito, Soldados Fieles

For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

19 P ero espero (confío) en el Señor Jesús enviarles pronto a Timoteo, a fin de que yo también sea alentado al saber de la condición de ustedes.

But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

20 P ues a nadie más tengo del mismo sentir y que esté sinceramente interesado en el bienestar de ustedes.

For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

21 P orque todos buscan sus propios intereses, no los de Cristo Jesús.

For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.

22 P ero ustedes conocen los probados méritos de Timoteo, que sirvió conmigo en la propagación del evangelio como un hijo sirve a su padre.

But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

23 P or tanto, a éste espero enviárselo inmediatamente tan pronto vea cómo van las cosas conmigo;

Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.

24 y confío en el Señor que también yo mismo iré pronto.

But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.

25 P ero creí necesario enviarles a Epafrodito, mi hermano, colaborador y compañero de lucha, quien también es su mensajero y servidor (ministro) para mis necesidades.

Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.

26 P orque él los extrañaba a todos, y estaba angustiado porque ustedes habían oído que se había enfermado.

For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.

27 P ues en verdad estuvo enfermo, a punto de morir. Pero Dios tuvo misericordia de él, y no sólo de él, sino también de mí, para que yo no tuviera tristeza sobre tristeza.

For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

28 A sí que lo he enviado con mayor solicitud, para que al verlo de nuevo, se regocijen y yo esté más tranquilo en cuanto a ustedes.

I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

29 R ecíbanlo, pues, en el Señor con todo gozo, y tengan en alta estima a los que son como él.

Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:

30 P orque estuvo al borde de la muerte por la obra de Cristo, arriesgando su vida para completar lo que faltaba en el servicio de ustedes hacia mí.

Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
