If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 H ubieran pasado entonces sobre nuestra alma las aguas impetuosas.”

Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 B endito sea el Señor, Que no nos ha entregado como presa de los dientes de ellos.

Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 N uestra alma ha escapado cual ave del lazo de los cazadores; El lazo se rompió y nosotros escapamos.

Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 N uestra ayuda está en el nombre del Señor, Que hizo los cielos y la tierra.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
