1 A l principio del reinado de Sedequías, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, vino esta palabra de parte del Señor a Jeremías:

In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

2 A sí me ha dicho el Señor: “Hazte coyundas y yugos y póntelos al cuello,

Thus saith the Lord to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck,

3 y envía palabra al rey de Edom, al rey de Moab, al rey de Amón, al rey de Tiro y al rey de Sidón por medio de los mensajeros que vienen a Jerusalén a ver a Sedequías, rey de Judá.

And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah;

4 Y ordénales que digan a sus señores: ‘Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, así le dirán a sus señores:

And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters;

5 “ Yo hice la tierra, los hombres y los animales que están sobre la superficie de la tierra con Mi gran poder y con Mi brazo extendido, y la doy a quien Me place.

I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.

6 Y ahora Yo he puesto todas estas tierras en manos de Mi siervo Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, siervo mío, y también le he dado las bestias del campo para que le sirvan.

And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.

7 Y todas las naciones le servirán a él, a su hijo, y al hijo de su hijo, hasta que llegue también la hora a su propia tierra; entonces muchas naciones y grandes reyes lo harán su siervo.

And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him.

8 Y sucederá que la nación o el reino que no sirva a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y que no ponga su cuello bajo el yugo del rey de Babilonia, a esa nación castigaré con espada, con hambre y con pestilencia,” declara el Señor, “hasta que Yo la haya destruido por su mano.

And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the Lord, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

9 U stedes, pues, no escuchen a sus profetas, a sus adivinos, a sus soñadores, a sus agoreros ni a sus hechiceros que les dicen: ‘No servirán al rey de Babilonia.’

Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:

10 P orque ellos les profetizan mentira, para alejarlos a ustedes de su tierra, y para que Yo los expulse y perezcan.

For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.

11 P ero la nación que ponga su cuello bajo el yugo del rey de Babilonia y le sirva, la dejaré en su tierra,” declara el Señor “y la cultivará y habitará en ella.”’”

But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the Lord; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.

12 Y a Sedequías, rey de Judá, hablé palabras como éstas: “Pongan su cuello bajo el yugo del rey de Babilonia, y sírvanle a él y a su pueblo, y vivirán.

I spake also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

13 ¿ Por qué han de morir, tú y tu pueblo, por la espada, el hambre y la pestilencia, tal como ha hablado el Señor de la nación que no sirva al rey de Babilonia ?

Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the Lord hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

14 N o escuchen las palabras de los profetas que les dicen: ‘No servirán al rey de Babilonia,’ porque les profetizan mentira.

Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.

15 “ Yo no los he enviado,” declara el Señor, “y ellos profetizan mentira en Mi nombre, para que Yo los expulse y perezcan ustedes y los profetas que les profetizan.”

For I have not sent them, saith the Lord, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you.

16 E ntonces hablé a los sacerdotes y a todo este pueblo, y les dije: “Así dice el Señor: No escuchen las palabras de sus profetas que les profetizan: ‘Los utensilios de la casa del Señor serán devueltos en breve de Babilonia,’ porque ellos les profetizan mentira.

Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the Lord; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the Lord 's house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.

17 N o los escuchen; sirvan al rey de Babilonia y vivirán. ¿Por qué ha de convertirse en ruinas esta ciudad ?

Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste?

18 P ero si ellos son profetas, y si la palabra del Señor está con ellos, que supliquen ahora al Señor de los ejércitos para que los utensilios que quedan en la casa del Señor, en la casa del rey de Judá y en Jerusalén, no sean llevados a Babilonia.

But if they be prophets, and if the word of the Lord be with them, let them now make intercession to the Lord of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the Lord, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.

19 P orque así dice el Señor de los ejércitos acerca de las columnas, del mar, de las basas y de los demás utensilios que quedan en esta ciudad,

For thus saith the Lord of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city.

20 l os cuales no tomó Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, cuando llevó al destierro a Jeconías, hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, de Jerusalén a Babilonia con todos los nobles de Judá y de Jerusalén.

Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;

21 S í, así dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, acerca de los utensilios que quedan en la casa del Señor, en la casa del rey de Judá y en Jerusalén:

Yea, thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the Lord, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem;

22 ‘ A Babilonia serán llevados, y allí quedarán hasta el día en que Yo los visite,’ declara el Señor. ‘Entonces los traeré y los restituiré a este lugar.’”

They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the Lord; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
