1 C iertamente, un rey reinará con justicia, Y príncipes gobernarán con rectitud.

Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.

2 C ada uno será como refugio contra el viento Y un abrigo (amparo) contra la tormenta, Como corrientes de agua en tierra seca, Como la sombra de una gran peña en tierra árida.

And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

3 N o se cegarán entonces los ojos de los que ven, Y los oídos de los que oyen escucharán.

And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.

4 E l corazón de los imprudentes discernirá la verdad, Y la lengua de los tartamudos se apresurará a hablar claramente.

The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.

5 Y a no se llamará noble al necio, Ni se le dirá generoso al tramposo.

The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.

6 P ues el necio habla necedades, Y su corazón se inclina hacia el mal, Para practicar la impiedad y hablar falsedad contra el Señor, Para mantener con hambre al hambriento Y para privar de bebida al sediento.

For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the Lord, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

7 E n cuanto al tramposo, sus armas son malignas; Trama designios perversos Para destruir con calumnias a los afligidos, Aun cuando el necesitado hable lo que es justo.

The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.

8 P ero el noble concibe planes nobles, Y en las cosas nobles se afirma. Advertencia a las Mujeres de Jerusalén

But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.

9 L evántense, mujeres perezosas, Y oigan mi voz. Hijas confiadas, Presten oído a mi palabra.

Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.

10 D entro de un año y algunos días, Se conturbarán, hijas confiadas, Porque se habrá acabado la vendimia, Y la recolección del fruto no vendrá.

Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.

11 T iemblen, mujeres perezosas; Contúrbense, hijas confiadas. Desvístanse, desnúdense, y cíñanse cilicio en la cintura.

Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.

12 G olpéense el pecho, por los campos agradables, por la vid fructífera,

They shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.

13 P or el suelo de mi pueblo donde crecerán espinos y zarzas; Sí, por todas las casas alegres y por la ciudad divertida.

Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:

14 P orque el palacio ha sido abandonado, hecha un desierto la populosa ciudad. Colina y atalaya se han convertido en cuevas para siempre, Un deleite para asnos monteses, un pasto para rebaños;

Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;

15 H asta que se derrame sobre nosotros el Espíritu desde lo alto, El desierto se convierta en campo fértil Y el campo fértil sea considerado como bosque.

Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.

16 E n el desierto morará el derecho, Y la justicia habitará en el campo fértil.

Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

17 L a obra de la justicia será paz, Y el servicio de la justicia, tranquilidad y confianza para siempre.

And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

18 E ntonces habitará mi pueblo en albergue de paz, En mansiones seguras y en lugares de reposo;

And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

19 A unque caiga granizo cuando el bosque caiga, Y la ciudad sea derribada por completo.

When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.

20 ¡ Cuán bienaventurados serán ustedes los que siembran junto a todas las aguas, Y dejan sueltos al buey y al asno!

Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass.
