1 A nd the men of Kiriath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of Jehovah, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of Jehovah.

Тогава кириатиаримските мъже дойдоха та дигнаха Господния ковчег, и донесоха го в Авинадавовата къща на хълма; и осветиха сина му Елеазара, за да пази Господния ковчег.

2 A nd it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Kiriath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after Jehovah.

И от деня, когато ковчегът бе положен в Кириатиарим, мина се много време - двадесет години; и целият Израилев дом въздишаше за Господа.

3 A nd Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto Jehovah with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts unto Jehovah, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

И Самуил говори на целия Израилев дом, казвайки: Ако се обръщате от все сърце към Господа, махнете отсред себе си чуждите богове и астартите, та пригответе сърцата си за Господа и само Нему служете; и Той ще ви избави от ръката на филистимците.

4 T hen the children of Israel did put away the Baalim and the Ashtaroth, and served Jehovah only.

Тогава израилтяните махнаха ваалимите и астартите та служеха само на Господа.

5 A nd Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you unto Jehovah.

После Самуил каза: Съберете целия Израил в Масфа, и ще се помоля за вас Господу.

6 A nd they gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Jehovah, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against Jehovah. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

И тъй събраха се в Масфа, и наляха вода, която изляха пред Господа, и постиха през оня ден, и рекоха там: Съгрешихме на Господа. И Самуил съдеше израилтяните в Масфа.

7 A nd when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.

А като чуха филистимците, че израилтяните се събрали в Масфа, филистимските началници излязоха против Израиля. Като чуха това, израилтяните уплашиха се от филистимците.

8 A nd the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto Jehovah our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.

И израилтяните рекоха на Самуила: Не преставай да викаш за нас към Господа нашия Бог, за да ни избави от ръката на филистимците.

9 A nd Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt-offering unto Jehovah: and Samuel cried unto Jehovah for Israel; and Jehovah answered him.

За това, Самуил взе едно млечниче агне, та го принесе цяло всеизгаряне Господу; и Самуил извика към Господа за Израиля, и Господ го послуша;

10 A nd as Samuel was offering up the burnt-offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel; but Jehovah thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten down before Israel.

защото, когато принасяше Самуил всеизгарянето, понеже филистимците се приближиха да се бият с Израиля, в същия ден Господ гръмна със силен гръм върху филистимците и ги смути; и те бяха поразени пред Израиля.

11 A nd the men of Israel went out of Mizpah, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Beth-car.

Израилевите мъже излязоха от Масфа, та гониха филистимците, и поразяваха ги до под Вет-хар.

12 T hen Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called the name of it Eben-ezer, saying, Hitherto hath Jehovah helped us.

Тогава Самуил взе един камък та го постави между Масфа и Сен, и нарече го Евен-езер {Т.е., Камък на Помощ.}, като казваше: До тука ни помогна Господ.

13 S o the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more within the border of Israel: and the hand of Jehovah was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

Така филистимците бяха покорени и не дойдоха вече в Израилевите предели; и Господната ръка беше против филистимците през всичките дни на Самуила.

14 A nd the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even unto Gath; and the border thereof did Israel deliver out of the hand of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

И градовете, които филистимците бяха превзели от Израиля, бяха повърнати на Израиля, от Акарон до Гет; и Израил освободи техните околности от ръката на филистимците. А между Израиля и аморейците имаше мир.

15 A nd Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

И Самуил съдеше Израиля през всичките дни на живота си.

16 A nd he went from year to year in circuit to Beth-el and Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all those places.

И всяка година той отиваше да обикаля Ветил, Галгал и Масфа, и съдеше Израиля във всички тия места;

17 A nd his return was to Ramah, for there was his house; and there he judged Israel: and he built there an altar unto Jehovah.

а <после> се връщаше в Рама, защото домът му беше там, па и там съдеше Израиля. Там издигна и олтар на Господа.
