1 ¶ Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father, and the younger men as brethren,

لا تُوَبِّخْ شَيخاً، بَلِ انصَحهُ كَأبٍ. وَعامِلِ الشَّبابَ كَإخوَةٍ.

2 t he elder women as mothers, the younger as sisters, with all purity.

أمّا العَجائِزُ فَعامِلهُنَّ كَأُمَّهاتٍ، وَالشّابّاتِ كَأخَواتٍ بِكُلِّ طَهارَةٍ.

3 ¶ Honour widows that are widows indeed.

راعِ الأرامِلَ المَحرُوماتِ بِالفِعلِ.

4 B ut if any widow has children or grandchildren, let those learn first to govern their house in piety and to recompense their parents, for this is honest and pleasing before God.

لَكِنْ إنْ كانَ لِأرمَلَةٍ أبناءٌ وَأحفادٌ، فَعَلَى هَؤُلاءِ أنْ يَتَعَلَّمُوا أوَّلاً مُمارَسَةَ إيمانِهِمْ بِالِاهتِمامِ بِعائِلاتِهِمْ. فَهُمْ بِهَذا يَرُدُّونَ فَضلَ وَالِدَيْهِمْ أوْ أجدادِهِمُ الَّذِينَ رَبُّوهُمْ. وَهَذا مُرضٍ للهِ.

5 N ow she that is a widow indeed and desolate, trusts in God, and is diligent in supplications and prayers night and day,

فَالأرمَلَةُ الحَقِيقِيَّةُ الَّتِي لَيسَ لَها مَنْ يَعتَنِي بِها، تَضَعُ رَجاءَها فِي الرَّبِّ، وَتُواظِبُ عَلَى الأدعِيَةِ وَالصَّلَواتِ لَيلَ نَهارٍ.

6 b ut she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.

أمّا الأرمَلَةُ الَّتِي تَحيا لِمَلَذّاتِها، فَهِيَ فِي الحَقيقَةِ مَيِّتَةٌ مَعَ أنَّها حَيَّةٌ!

7 T herefore command these things, that they may be blameless.

فَأوصِ بِهَذِهِ الأُمُورِ لِكَيْ لا يَجِدَ أحَدٌ ما يَنتَقِدُهُنَّ عَلَيهِ.

8 B ut if any provide not for his own and specially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

لَكِنْ إنْ كانَ أحَدٌ لا يَعُولُ أقرِباءَهُ، خاصَّةً عائِلَتَهُ، فَقَدْ تَنَكَّرَ لِلإيمانِ. وَمِثلُ هَذا أسوَأُ مِنْ غَيرِ المُؤمِنِ!

9 L et a widow be placed on the list being not less than sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,

لا تُدرِجِ امْرأةً فِي قائِمَةِ الأرامِلِ إنْ كانَ عُمرُها أقَلَّ مِنْ سِتِّيْنَ عاماً، أوَ إنْ كانَتْ قَدْ تَطَلَّقَتْ يَوماً وَتَزَوَّجَتْ رَجُلاً آخَرَ.

10 h aving a good testimony of good works, if she has brought up well her children, if she has exercised hospitality, if she has washed the feet of the saints, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.

كَما يَنبَغي أنْ تَكُونَ مَعرُوفَةً بِأعمالِها الصّالِحَةِ، بِما فِيها تَربِيَةُ أبنائِها، وَحُسنُ الضِّيافَةِ، وَغَسلُ أقدامِ المُؤمِنِينَ المُقَدَّسينَ، وَمُساعَدَةُ الَّذِينَ فِي ضِيقٍ، وَتَكرِيسُ نَفسِها لِكُلِّ أنواعِ الأعمالِ الصّالِحَةِ.

11 B ut the younger widows refuse, for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they desire to marry,

فَارفُضْ إدراجَ الأرامِلِ الشّابّاتِ، لِأنَّهُ مَتَى غَلَبَتْ شَهَواتُهُنَّ تَكرِيسَهُنَّ لِلمَسِيحِ، سَيُفَضِّلْنَ الزَّواجَ ثانِيَةً عَلَى خِدمَةِ المَسِيحِ.

12 h aving condemnation, because they have cast off their first faith.

وَسَيَكُنَّ عُرضَةً لِلإدانَةِ لِأنَّهُنَّ كَسَرنَ عَهْدَهُنَّ الأوَّلَ.

13 A nd reject also the idle, who have learned to wander about from house to house, and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

وَفَضلاً عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَإنَّهُنَّ يَكتَسِبنَ عادَةَ الكَسَلِ وَالتَّسَكُّعَ مِنْ بَيتٍ إلَى بَيتٍ. وَلَنْ يُصبِحنَ كَسُولاتٍ فَحَسبُ، بَلْ سَيَبدَأْنَ أيضاً بِالنَّمِيمَةَ وَالتَّدَخُّلَ فِي أُمُورِ الآخَرِينَ، وَالكَلامِ الفارِغِ!

14 I desire therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, govern the house, giving no occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

لِهَذا أُرِيدُ لِلأرامِلِ الشّابّاتِ أنْ يَتَزَوَّجنَ، وَأنْ يُرَبِّينَ أبناءً، وَأنْ يُدَبِّرنَ بُيُوتَهُنَّ، فَلا يَكَونُ لِمَنْ يُقاوِمُونَنا عُذرٌ فِي انتِقادِنا.

15 F or some are already turned back after Satan.

أقُولُ هَذا لِأنَّ بَعضَ الأرامِلِ قَدِ انحَرَفنَ لِيَتبَعنَ إبلِيسَ.

16 I f any faithful man or woman has widows, let them maintain them and let not the congregation be charged, that it may relieve those that are widows indeed.

فَإذا كانَتْ لِمُؤمِنَةٍ أرامِلُ فِي عائِلَتِها، عَلَيها أنْ تُساعِدَهُنَّ، فَلا يَكُنَّ عِبئاً عَلَى الكَنِيسَةِ. حينّئِذٍ تَستَطِيعُ الكَنِيسَةُ أنْ تُساعِدَ الأرامِلَ الحَقِيقِيّاتِ. تَعليماتٌ بِخُصُوصِ الشّيُوخ

17 ¶ Let the elders that govern well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in the word and doctrine.

أمّا الشُّيُوخُ الَّذِينَ يَقُودُونَ الكَنِيسَةَ بِشَكلٍ حَسَنٍ، فَهُمْ جَدِيرُونَ بِالحُصُولِ عَلَى مُكافَأةٍ مُضاعَفَةٍ، خاصَّةً المُنشَغِلِيْنَ فِي الوَعظِ وَالتَّعلِيمِ.

18 F or the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treads out the grain. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

فَالكِتابُ يَقُولُ: «لا تُكَمِّمْ ثَوراً وَهُوَ يَدرُسُ القَمحَ.» وَيَقُولُ أيضاً: «أُجرَةُ العامِلِ حَقٌ لَهُ.»

19 A gainst an elder do not receive an accusation, unless there are two or three witnesses.

لا تَقبَلِ اتِّهاماً ضِدَّ أحَدِ الشُّيوخِ ما لَمْ يُدعَمْ بِشاهِدَينِ أوْ ثَلاثَةٍ.

20 T hose that persist in sin rebuke before all, that the others may also fear.

أمّا الَّذِينَ يُمارِسونَ الخَطِيَّةَ باستِمرارٍ، فَوَبِّخْهُمْ أمامَ الكَنِيسَةِ كُلِّها، لِكَي يَخافَ البَقِيَّةُ.

21 I charge thee before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

أُناشِدُكَ أمامَ اللهِ وَالمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ وَالمَلائِكَةِ المُختارِينَ أنْ تُراعِيَ هَذِهِ التَّعلِيماتِ دُونَ أنْ تُصدِرَ أحكاماً مُسْبَقَةً عَلَى أحَدٍ، وَمِنْ دُونِ تَمييزٍ بَينَ شَخصٍ وَآخَرَ.

22 L ay hands suddenly on no one, neither be partaker of the sins of others; keep thyself pure.

احرِصْ عَلَى أنْ لا تَتَسَرَّعَ فِي وَضعِ يَدِكَ عَلَى أحَدٍ لإطلاقِهِ فِي خِدمَةِ الرَّبِّ. وَلا تَشتَرِكْ فِي خَطايا الآخَرِينَ، بَلِ احفَظْ نَفسَكَ نَقِيّاً دائِماً.

23 D rink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.

لا تَكتَفِ بِشُربِ الماءِ وَحدَهُ فِيما بَعْدُ، بَلِ استَخدِمْ بَعضَ النَّبيذِ مِنْ أجلِ مَعِدَتِكَ وَاعْتِلالاتِكَ المُتَكَرِّرَةِ.

24 S ome men’s sins are manifest beforehand, before they come unto judgment, but to others they follow after.

خَطايا بَعضُ النّاسِ وَاضِحَةٌ تَماماً، وَهِيَ تَسبِقُهُمْ إلَى المُحاكَمَةِ. وَأمّا بَعْضُهُمْ فَخَطاياهُمْ تَلحَقُ بِهِمْ!

25 L ikewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand, and those that are otherwise cannot be hid.

وَالأعمالُ الصّالِحَةُ وَاضِحَةٌ تَماماً أيضاً، لَكِنْ حَتَّى غَيرُ الواضِحَةِ لَنْ تَخفَى إلَى الأبَدِ.
