1 ¶ In the meantime, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

وَتَجَمَّعَ عِدَّةُ آلافٍ مِنَ النّاسِ حَتَّى كادوا يَدُوسُونَ بَعضُهُمْ بَعضاً. فَبَدَأ يَسُوعُ يَتَحَدَّثُ أوَّلاً لِتَلامِيذِهِ: «احتَرِسُوا مِنْ خَمِيرَةِ الفِرِّيسِيِّينَ، أيْ مِنْ رِيائِهِمْ.

2 F or there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, neither hid that shall not be known.

فَما مِنْ مَخفِيٍّ إلّا وَسَيُكشَفُ، وَما مِنْ مَستُورٍ إلّا وَسَيُعلَنُ.

3 T herefore whatever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light, and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

فَكُلُّ ما تَقُولُونَهُ فِي الظُّلمَةِ سَيُسْمَعُ فِي النُّورِ، وَكُلُّ ما هَمَستُمْ بِهِ فِي الآذانِ فِي الغُرَفِ المُغلَقَةِ سَيُذاعُ مِنْ فَوقِ سُطُوحِ البُيُوتِ.» خافُوا اللهَ وَحدَه

4 A nd I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of those that kill the body and, after that, have no more that they can do.

«أقُولُ لَكُمْ يا أحِبائي، لا تَخافُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ يَقتُلُونَ الجَسَدَ، ثُمَّ لا يَقدِرُونَ أنْ يَفعَلُوا ما هُوَ أكثَرَ.

5 B ut I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who, after being killed, has power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

سَأقُولُ لَكُمْ مِمَّنْ يَنبَغِي أنْ تَخافُوا: خافُوا مِنْ ذَلِكَ الَّذِي لَهُ السُّلطانُ أنْ يُلقِيَ فِي جُهَنَّمَ بَعدَ أنْ يَقتُلَ. نَعَمْ، أقُولُ لَكُمْ خافُوا مِنهُ.

6 A re not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

«أما تُباعُ خَمسَةُ عَصافِيرَ بِقِرشَينِ؟ وَمَعَ ذَلِكَ، فَإنَّ اللهَ لا يَنسَى واحِداً مِنها.

7 B ut even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows.

أمّا أنتُمْ فَحَتَّى شَعرُ رَأْسِكُمْ كُلُّهُ مَعدُودٌ. فَلا تَخافُوا، فَأنْتُمْ أثمَنُ مِنْ عَصافِيرَ كَثِيرَةٍ. لا تَخجَلُوا بِيَسُوع

8 A lso I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God;

«وَأقُولُ لَكُمْ إنَّ كُلَّ مَنْ يَعتَرِفُ بِي أمامَ الآخَرِينَ، فَسَأعتَرِفُ أنا ابنَ الإنسانِ بِهِ أمامَ مَلائِكَةِ اللهِ.

9 b ut he that denies me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

وَمَنْ يُنكِرُنِي أمامَ الآخَرِينَ، فَسَأنكِرُهُ أمامَ مَلائِكَةِ اللهِ.

10 A nd whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, there is forgiveness for him; but unto him that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven.

«كُلُّ مَنْ يُهِينُ ابنَ الإنسانِ يُمكِنُ أنْ يُغفَرَ لَهُ، أمّا الَّذِي يُهِينُ الرُّوحَ القُدُسَ فَلَنْ يُغفَرَ لَهُ.

11 A nd when they bring you unto the synagogues and unto magistrates and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer or what ye shall say;

«وَعِندَما يُحضِرُونَكُمْ أمامَ المَجامِعِ وَالحُكّامِ وَالسُّلُطاتِ، لا تَقلَقُوا كَيفَ سَتُدافِعُونَ عَنْ أنفُسِكُمْ أوْ ماذا سَتَقُولُونَ،

12 f or the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

لِأنَّ الرُّوحَ القُدُسَ سَيُعَلِّمُكُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ الوَقتِ ماذا يَنبَغِي أنْ تَقُولُوا.» يَسُوعُ يُحَذِّرُ مِنَ الأنانِيَّة

13 ¶ And one of the crowd said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.

ثُمَّ قالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَينِ جُمُوعِ النّاسِ: «يا مُعَلِّمُ، قُلْ لِأخِي بِأنْ يُقاسِمَنِي المِيراثَ الَّذِي تَرَكَهُ أبِي!» لَكِنَّ يَسُوعَ قالَ لَهُ:

14 A nd he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

«يا رَجُلُ، مَنِ الَّذِي عَيَّنَنِي قاضِياً عَلَيكُما أوْ مُقَسِّماً؟»

15 A nd he said unto them, Take heed and beware of all covetousness; for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.

وَقالَ لَهُمْ: «احتَرِسُوا وَاحفَظُوا أنفُسَكُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ طَمَعٍ. فَحَتَّى إذا كانَ لإنسانٍ ما يَزِيدُ عَنْ حاجَتِهِ، فَإنَّ حَياتَهُ لا تَعتَمِدُ عَلَى مُقتَنَياتِهِ.»

16 A nd he spoke a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully;

ثُمَّ رَوَى لَهُمْ هَذِهِ القِصَّةَ: «كانَ لِرَجُلٍ غَنِيٍّ أرْضٌ أنتَجَتْ مَحصُولاً وَفِيراً،

17 a nd he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

فَفَكَّرَ فِي نَفسِهِ: ‹ماذا أفعَلُ يا تُرَى؟ إذْ لَيسَ عِندِي مَكانٌ أخزِنُ فِيهِ مَحاصِيلِي؟›

18 A nd he said, This will I do: I will pull down my storehouses and build greater, and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

«فَقالَ: ‹هَذا ما سَأفعَلُهُ: سَأهدِمُ مَخازِنِي وَأبنِي مَخازِنَ أكبَرَ مِنها، وَسَأخزِنُ كُلَّ حُبُوبِي وَخَيراتِي فِيها

19 A nd I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast many goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

وَأقولُ: لَكِ يا نَفسِي خَيراتٌ وَفِيرَةٌ، سَتَدُومُ سَنَواتٍ كَثِيرَةً، فَاطْمَئِنِّي وَتَمَتَّعِي!›

20 B ut God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast stored up?

«فَقالَ لَهُ اللهُ: ‹أيُّها الأحمَقُ! سَتَنتَهِي حَياتُكَ فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيلَةِ، فَلِمَنْ تَصِيرُ الأشياءُ الَّتِي أعدَدْتَها؟›

21 S o is he that lays up treasure for himself and is not rich in God.

«هَكَذا تَكُونُ حالُ مَنْ يَخزِنُ كُنُوزاً لِنَفسِهِ، دُونَ أنْ يَكُونَ غَنِيّاً بِاللهِ.» مَلَكُوتُ اللهِ أوَّلا

22 ¶ And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

ثُمَّ قالَ يَسُوعُ لِتَلامِيذِهِ: «لِهَذا أقُولُ لَكُمْ، لا تَقلَقُوا مِنْ جِهَةِ مَعِيشَتِكُمْ، أيْ بِشَأْنِ ما سَتَأْكُلُونَ. وَلا تَقلَقُوا مِنْ جِهَةِ جَسَدِكُمْ، أيْ بِشَأْنِ ما سَتَلبَسُونَ.

23 T he life is more than food, and the body is more than raiment.

لِأنَّ الحَياةَ أكثَرُ أهَمِّيَّةً مِنَ الطَّعامِ، وَالجَسَدَ أكثَرُ أهَمِيَّةً مِنَ اللِّباسِ.

24 C onsider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

انظُرُوا إلَى الغِربانِ وَتَعَلَّمُوا: إنَّها لا تَبذُرُ وَلا تَحصُدُ، وَلا مَخزَنَ لَها لِتَخزِنَ، لَكِنَّ اللهَ يُطعِمُها. وَكَمْ أنتُمْ أثمَنُ عِندَ اللهِ مِنَ الطُّيُورِ!

25 A nd which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

مَنْ مِنكُمْ يَستَطِيعُ أنْ يُضِيفَ إلَى عُمرِهِ ساعَةً واحِدَةً عِندَما يَقلَقُ؟

26 I f ye then are not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?

«فَما دُمتُمْ لا تَستَطِيعُونَ أنْ تَفعَلُوا حَتَّى هَذا الشَّيءَ الصَّغِيرَ، فَلِماذا تَقلَقُونَ مِنْ جِهَةِ بَقِيَّةِ الأُمُورِ؟

27 C onsider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

«انظُرُوا كَيفَ تَنمُو الزَّنابِقُ. إنَّها لا تَتعَبُ وَلا تَغزِلُ. لَكِنِّي أقُولُ لَكُمْ، إنَّهُ لَمْ يُكسَ أحَدٌ مِثلَ واحِدَةٍ مِنها، وَلا حَتَّى سُلَيْمانُ فِي كُلِّ مَجدِهِ.

28 I f then God so clothes the grass, which is today in the field and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

فَإنْ كانَ اللهُ يُلبِسُ عُشبَ الحُقُولِ الَّذِي تَراهُ هُنا اليَومَ، وَفِي الغَدِ يُلقَى بِهِ فِي الفُرنِ، أفَلا يَهتَمُّ بِكُمْ أكثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ يا قَلِيلِي الإيمانِ!

29 A nd seek not what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink, neither be ye high minded.

«فَلا تُشغِلُوا عُقُولَكُمْ بِما سَتَأْكُلُونَ أوْ بِما سَتَشرَبُونَ، وَلا تَقلَقُوا بِشَأْنِها.

30 F or all these things do the Gentiles of the world seek after, and your Father knows that ye have need of these things.

فَهَذِهِ أُمُورٌ يَسعَى إلَيها أهلُ العالَمِ الآخَرونَ، وَأبُوكُمْ يَعرِفُ أنَّكُمْ تَحتاجُونَ إلَيها.

31 B ut rather seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you.

فَاهتَمُّوا أوَّلاً بِمَلَكُوتِ اللهِ، وَسَتُعطَى لَكُمْ هَذِهِ الأُمُورُ أيضاً. لا تَتَّكِلُوا عَلَى المال

32 F ear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

«لا تَخَفْ أيُّها القَطِيعُ الصَّغِيرُ، فَاللهُ مَسرُورٌ بِإعطائِكُمُ المَلَكُوتَ.

33 S ell what ye have and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches neither moth corrupts.

بِيعُوا مُقتَنَياتِكُمْ، وَأعطُوا المالَ لِلفُقَراءِ. اقتَنُوا مَحافِظَ لا تَبلَى مَعَ الزَّمَنِ، أيْ كُنُوزاً لا تَفنَى فِي السَّماءِ، حَيثُ لا يَصِلُ اللُّصُوصُ إلَيها، وَلا يُصِيبُها العَفَنُ.

34 F or where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

لِأنَّ قَلبَكَ سَيَكُونُ حَيثُ يَكونُ كَنزُكَ.» كُونُوا مُستَعِدِّينَ دائِما

35 L et your loins be girded about and your lamps burning,

وَقالَ: «شُدُّوا أحْزِمَتَكُمْ مُتَأهِّبينَ لِلعَمَلِ، وَحافِظُوا عَلَى مَصابِيحِكُمْ مُشتَعِلَةً دائِماً.

36 a nd ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he comes and knocks, they may open unto him immediately.

كُونُوا كَأشخاصٍ يَنتَظِرُونَ عَودَةَ سَيِّدِهِمْ مِنْ حَفلَةِ عُرسٍ. فَمَتَى جاءَ وَقَرَعَ البابَ، يَفتَحُونَ لَهُ فَوراً.

37 B lessed are those slaves, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching; verily I say unto you that he shall gird himself and make them to sit down to food and will come forth and serve them.

هَنِيئاً لِهَؤُلاءِ الخُدّامِ الَّذِينَ يَجِدُهُمْ سَيِّدُهُمْ صاحِينَ وَمُستَعِدِّينَ عِندَ عَودَتِهِ. أقُولُ لَكُمُ الحَقَّ، إنَّهُ سَيَشُدُّ حِزامَهُ، وَيُجلِسُهُمْ عَلَى مائِدَتِهِ وَيَخدِمُهُمْ.

38 A nd if he shall come in the second watch or come in the third watch and find them so, blessed are those slaves.

هَنِيئاً لَهُمْ إذا وَجَدَهُمْ مُستَعِدِّينَ هَكَذا، سَواءٌ أجاءَ فِي مُنتَصَفِ اللَّيلِ أمْ قُبَيلَ الفَجرِ.

39 A nd know this: that if the husband of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

«تَأكَّدُوا أنَّهُ لَوْ عَلِمَ صاحِبُ البَيتِ أيَّةَ ساعَةٍ يَنوِي اللِّصُّ أنْ يَأْتِيَ، لَما تَرَكَهُ يَسطُو عَلَى بَيتِهِ.

40 B e ye therefore ready also; for the Son of man comes at an hour when ye think not.

فَكُونُوا أنتُمْ أيضاً مُستَعِدِّيْنَ، لأنَّ ابنَ الإنسانِ سَيَأْتِي فِي لَحظَةٍ لا تَتَوَقَّعُونَها.» الوَكِيلُ الأمِين

41 ¶ Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us or even to all?

حينَئِذٍ قالَ بُطرُسُ: «يا رَبُّ، هَلْ تَروِي هَذا المَثَلَ لَنا أمْ لِلجَمِيعِ أيضاً؟»

42 A nd the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward whom his lord shall make ruler over his household to give them their portion of food in due season?

فَقالَ الرَّبُّ: «فَمَنْ هُوَ إذاً الوَكِيلُ الأمِينُ الفَطِنُ الَّذِي يُعَيِّنُهُ السَّيِّدُ مَسؤُولاً عَنْ خُدّامِهِ، لِيُعطِيَهُمْ حِصَّتَهُمْ مِنَ الطَّعامِ فِي وَقتِها المُناسِبِ؟

43 B lessed is that slave whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.

هَنِيئاً لِذَلِكَ الخادِمِ الَّذِي حِينَ يَأْتِي سَيِّدُهُ يَجِدُهُ يَقُومُ بِواجِبِهِ.

44 O f a truth I say unto you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.

أقُولُ لَكُمُ الحَقَّ، إنَّهُ سَيُوكِلُهُ عَلَى جَمِيعِ أملاكِهِ.

45 B ut and if that slave shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming, and shall begin to beat the menslaves and maids and to eat and drink and to be drunken,

«لَكِنْ قَدْ يَقُولُ هَذا الخادِمُ فِي نَفسِهِ: ‹يَبدُو أنَّ سَيِّدِي سَيَتَأخَّرُ فِي مَجِيئِهِ.› فَيَبدَأُ بِضَربِ الخُدّامِ وَالخادِماتِ، وَيَبدَأُ يَأكُلُ وَيَشرَبُ وَيَسكَرُ.

46 t he lord of that slave will come in a day when he does not look for him and at an hour when he is not aware and will cut him off and will appoint him his portion with the unfaithful.

فَيَأتِي سَيِّدُ ذَلِكَ الخادِمِ فِي يَومٍ لا يَتَوَقَّعُهُ، وَفِي ساعَةٍ لا يَعرِفُها، فَيُعاقِبُهُ كَما يُعاقَبُ الخائِنُ.

47 A nd that slave who knew his lord’s will and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

«فَمِثلُ هَذا الخادِمِ الَّذِي عَرَفَ إرادَةَ سَيِّدِهِ، لَكِنَّهُ لا يَستَعِدَّ وَلا يَعمَلُ بِها، سَيُعاقَبُ عِقاباً شَدِيداً.

48 B ut he that knew not and did commit things worthy of stripes shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required; and to whom much was committed, more will be asked of him.

أمّا الخادِمُ الَّذِي لا يَعرِفُ إرادَةَ سَيِّدِهِ، وَفَعَلَ شَيئاً يَستَحِقُّ العِقابَ، فَسَيُعاقَبُ عِقاباً أخَفَّ. فَمَنْ يُعطَى كَثِيراً يُطلَبُ مِنهُ كَثِيرٌ، وَمَنْ يُؤتَمَنُ عَلَى كَثِيرٍ سَيُطالَبُ بِالكَثِيرِ.» الانقِسامُ حَولَ يَسُوع

49 I am come to cast fire into the earth; and what do I desire, except that it be kindled?

«لَقَدْ جِئتُ لِأُشعِلَ ناراً عَلَى الأرْضِ. وَكَمْ أتَمَنَّى لَوْ أنَّها أُشعِلَتْ بِالفِعلِ!

50 B ut I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am anguished until it is accomplished!

لِي مَعمُودِيَّةٌ لا بُدَّ أنْ أتَعَمَّدَ بِها، وَلَنْ تَهدَأ نَفسِي حَتَّى تَتِمَّ.

51 T hink ye that I am come to the earth to give peace? No, I tell you, but rather division;

هَلْ تَظُنُّونَ أنِّي جِئتُ لِكَي أُرَسِّخَ سَلاماً عَلَى الأرْضِ؟ لا، بَلْ أقُولُ لَكُمْ إنِّي جِئتُ لِأُرَسِّخَ الانقِسامَ!

52 f or from now on there shall be five in one house divided: three against two and two against three.

أقُولُ هَذا لِأنَّهُ مُنذُ الآنَ فَصاعِداً، يَكُونُ خَمسَةٌ فِي بَيتٍ واحِدٍ مُنقَسِمِينَ ثَلاثَةً عَلَى اثْنَينِ، وَاثنينِ عَلَى ثَلاثَةٍ.

53 T he father shall be divided against the son and the son against the father, the mother against the daughter and the daughter against the mother, the mother-in-law against her daughter- in-law and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

الأبُ عَلَى ابنِهِ، وَالابنُ عَلَى أبِيهِ. الأُمُّ عَلَى ابنَتِها، وَالبِنتُ عَلَى أُمِّها. الحَماةُ عَلَى كِنَّتِها، وَالكَنَّةُ عَلَى حَماتِها.» فَهمُ هَذا العَصر

54 ¶ And he said also to the people, When ye see the cloud rising out of the west, straightway ye say, A shower comes, and so it is.

وَقالَ يَسُوعُ لِجُمُوعِ النّاسِ: «تَرَونَ غَيمَةً تَظهَرُ فِي الغَربِ، فَتَقُولُونَ: ‹المَطَرُ قادِمٌ،› وَتُمطِرُ السَّماءُ بِالفِعلِ.

55 A nd when the south wind blows, ye say, There will be heat, and it comes to pass.

وَتَهُبُّ رِيحٌ جَنُوبِيَّةٌ فَتَقُولُونَ: ‹سَيَكُونُ الجَوُّ حارّاً.› وَيَكُونُ كَذَلِكَ بِالفِعلِ.

56 Y e hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

أيُّها المُنافِقُونَ، أنتُمْ تُحسِنُونَ تَفسِيرَ عَلاماتِ المَناخِ، فَكَيفَ لا تُحسِنُونَ فَهْمَ هَذا العَصرِ؟» تَسويَةُ الخِلافات

57 Y ea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

«وَلِماذا لا تَحكُمُونَ بِأنفُسِكُمْ ما هُوَ الصَّوابُ؟

58 W hen thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou may be delivered from him, lest he drag thee away to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.

فَبَينَما أنتَ ذاهِبٌ مَعَ خَصمِكَ إلَى الحاكِمِ، ابذُلْ ما فِي وُسعِكَ لِتُسَوِّي خِلافَكَ مَعَهُ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ. وَإلّا فَإَنَّهُ قَدْ يَجُرُّكَ إلَى القاضِي، وَيُسَلِّمُكَ القاضِي إلَى الضّابِطِ، وَيَزُجُّ بِكَ الضّابِطُ فِي السِّجنِ.

59 I tell thee, in no wise shalt thou come out of there until thou hast paid the very last mite.

أقُولُ لَكَ إنَّكَ لَنْ تَخرُجَ مِنْ هُناكَ إلَى أنْ تَسُدَّ آخِرَ فِلسٍ عَلَيكَ.»
