1 ¶ And Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.

وَعادَ يَهُوشافاطُ مَلكُ يَهُوذا بِسَلامٍ إلَى بَيتهِ فِي القُدسِ.

2 A nd Jehu, the son of Hanani, the seer, went out to meet him and said to king Jehoshaphat, Should thou help the ungodly and love those that hate the LORD? Therefore, the wrath of the presence of the LORD shall be upon thee.

فَخَرَجَ الرّائِي ياهُو بْنُ حَنانِي للِقائِه. وَقالَ ياهُو لِلمَلِكِ يَهُوشافاطَ: «لِماذا خَرَجْتَ لتُساعدَ أشراراً؟ وَلِماذا أحبَبتَ هَؤُلاءِ الَّذِينَ يُبغضُونَ اللهَ ؟ اللهُ غاضبٌ عَلَيكَ مِنْ أجلِ هَذا.

3 N evertheless, good things have been found in thee, in that thou hast burned down the groves of the land and hast prepared thy heart to seek God.

لَكِنَّكَ فَعَلْتَ فِي حَياتِكَ بَعضَ الأُمُورِ الصّالِحَةِ، إذْ أزَلْتَ أعمِدَةَ عَشْتَرُوتَ منْ هَذا البَلَدِ، وَصَمَّمَتَ في قَلبكَ أنْ تَتَّبِعَ اللهَ.» يَهُوشافاطُ يَختارُ قُضاة

4 A nd Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem, and he went out again through the people from Beersheba to Mount Ephraim and brought them back unto the LORD God of their fathers.

وَأقامَ يَهُوشافاطُ فِي القُدسِ. ثُمَّ خَرَجَ ثانِيَّةً لِكَي يَكُونَ مَعَ الشَّعبِ مِنْ بِئْرِ السَّبعِ إلَى مِنطَقَةِ أفْرايِمَ الجَبَلِيَّةِ. وَأرْجَعَ يَهُوشافاطُ هَؤُلاءِ النّاسَ إلَى اللهِ الَّذِي تَبِعَهُ آباؤهُمْ.

5 ¶ And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,

وَعَيَّنَ يَهُوشافاطُ قُضاةً فِي الأرْضِ، وَفِي كُلِّ المُدُنِ الحَصِينةِ بِيَهُوذا.

6 a nd said to the judges, Take heed what ye do, for ye do not judge for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the word of judgment.

وَقالَ يَهُوشافاطُ لهَؤُلاء القُضاةِ: «دَقِّقُوا فِي كُلِّ ما تَفعَلُونَ، لِأنَّكُمْ لا تَقْضُونَ لِلنّاسِ، بَلْ للهِ. وَسَيُعينُكُمُ اللهُ فِي أحكامِكُمْ.

7 T herefore, now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it, for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.

عَلَى كُلِّ واحِدٍ مِنْكُمْ أنْ يَخافَ اللهَ. فَدَقِّقُوا فِي ما تَفعَلُونَ لأنَّ إلَهَنا لا يَظلِمُ، وَلا يُمَيِّزُ كَبيراً عَنْ صَغِيرٍ، وَلا يَرتَشِي ليُغَيِّرَ أحكامَهُ.»

8 M oreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat placed some of the Levites and of the priests and of the heads of the fathers of Israel for the judgment of the LORD and for controversies. And they returned to Jerusalem.

وَفِي القُدسِ عَيَّنَ يَهُوَشافاطُ بَعضَ الَّلاوِيِّينَ وَالكَهَنَةِ وَرُؤَساءِ عائلاتِ إسْرائِيلَ قُضاةً. وَكانَ عَلَيهِمْ أنْ يَحتَكمُوا إلَى شَرِيعَةِ اللهِ لتَسوِيَةِ مَشاكِلِ أهلِ القُدسِ.

9 A nd he charged them, saying, Ye shall proceed thus in the fear of the LORD, in truth and with a perfect heart.

وَأمَرَهُمْ يَهُوشافاطُ فَقالَ: «يَنبَغِي أنْ تَخدِمُوا بِأمانَةٍ مِنْ كُلِّ قُلُوبكُمْ وَتَخافُوا اللهَ.

10 I n whatever case that shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes or rights, ye shall warn them lest they become guilty against the LORD so that wrath will not come upon you and upon your brethren. Doing thus, ye shall not be guilty.

سَتَأتِيكُمْ قَضايا تَتَعَلَّقُ بِالقَتلِ أوْ قانُونٍ مِنَ القَوانِينِ أوْ وَصِيَّةٌ أوْ فَريضَةٌ أوْ أيَّةُ قَضِيَّةٍ مِنْ إخْوَتِكُمُ السّاكِنينَ فِي المُدُنِ. فَفي كُلّ هَذِهِ القَضايا، يَنبَغِي أنْ تُحَذِّرُوا النّاسَ مِنْ أنْ يُخطئُوا إلَى اللهِ. فَإنْ لَمْ تَخدِمُوا بأمانَةٍ، سَتَجعَلُونَ غَضَبَ اللهِ يَنزِلُ عَلَيكُمْ وَعَلَى إخْوَتِكُمْ. افعَلُوا ما أمَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ، فَلا تُلامُونَ.

11 B ehold, Amariah, the high priest, who shall be over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah, the son of Ishmael, prince of the house of Judah, for all the king’s matters; and the Levites who shall be teachers before you. Take courage and do, for the LORD shall be with the good.

«وَها هُوَ أمَرْيا رَئِيسُ الكَهَنَةِ سَيَكُونُ مُشرِفاً عَلَيكُمْ في كُلّ أُمُورِ اللهِ. أمّا زَبَدْيا بْنُ يَشْمَعِيئِيلَ رَئِيسُ عائلاتِ يَهُوذا فَسَيَكُونُ مُشرِفاً عَلَيكُمْ فِي كُلِّ أُمُور المَلِكِ. وَسَيَخدِمُ الَّلاويُّونَ كَكَتَبَةٍ عِندَكُمْ. فَتَحَمَّسُوا وَتَشَجَّعُوا في كُلِّ ما تَفعَلُونَ. وَلْيَكُنِ اللهُ مَعَ كُلِّ الَّذِينَ يَفعَلُونَ الصَّوابَ.»
