1 I n the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and took it,

În anul cînd a venit Tartan la Asdod, trimes de Sargon, împăratul Asiriei, să bată Asdodul, şi l -a luat,

2 a t the same time the Lord spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, “Go, and remove the sackcloth from your body, and take your sandals off your feet.” And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

în vremea aceea Domnul a vorbit lui Isaia, fiul lui Amoţ, şi i -a zis:,, Du-te, desleagă-ţi sacul de pe coapse şi scoate-ţi încălţămintea din picioare!`` El a făcut aşa, a umblat gol şi desculţ.

3 T hen the Lord said, “Just as My servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder against Egypt and Ethiopia,

Şi Domnul a zis:,, După cum robul meu Isaia umblă gol şi desculţ, trei ani de zile, ca semn şi înştiinţare pentru Egipt şi pentru Etiopia,

4 s o shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians as prisoners and the Ethiopians as captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

tot aşa şi împăratul Asiriei va lua din Egipt şi din Etiopia prinşi de război şi surghiuniţi, tineri şi bătrîni, goi şi desculţi, şi cu spinarea descoperită, spre ruşinea Egiptului.

5 T hen they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation and Egypt their glory.

Atunci se vor îngrozi şi se vor ruşina ceice îşi puseseră încrederea în Etiopia, şi se făleau cu Egiptul.

6 A nd the inhabitant of this territory will say in that day, ‘Surely such is our expectation, wherever we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?’”

Şi locuitorii de pe ţărmul acesta vor zice în ziua aceea:, Iată ce a ajuns încrederea noastră, pe care ne bizuiserăm, ca să fim ajutaţi şi să fim izbăviţi de împăratul Asiriei! Cum vom scăpa acum?``
