1 P ablo, llamado a ser apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y Sóstenes, nuestro hermano,

Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,

2 a la iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, a los que han sido santificados en Cristo Jesús, llamados a ser santos, con todos los que en cualquier parte invocan el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Señor de ellos y nuestro:

to the assembly of God which is at Corinth; those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours:

3 G racia y paz a ustedes de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo. Acción de Gracias

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 S iempre doy gracias a mi Dios por ustedes, por la gracia de Dios que les fue dada en Cristo Jesús.

I always thank my God concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;

5 P orque en todo ustedes fueron enriquecidos en El, en toda palabra y en todo conocimiento,

that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge;

6 a sí como el testimonio acerca de Cristo (el Mesías) fue confirmado en ustedes;

even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

7 d e manera que nada les falta en ningún don, esperando ansiosamente la revelación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

so that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

8 E l también los confirmará hasta el fin, para que sean irreprensibles en el día de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 F iel es Dios, por medio de quien fueron llamados a la comunión con Su Hijo Jesucristo, nuestro Señor. Exhortación a la Unidad

God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

10 L es ruego, hermanos, por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que todos se pongan de acuerdo (que hablen lo mismo), y que no haya divisiones entre ustedes, sino que estén enteramente unidos en un mismo sentir (de una misma mente) y en un mismo parecer.

Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

11 P orque he sido informado acerca de ustedes, hermanos míos, por los de Cloé, que hay discusiones entre ustedes.

For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.

12 M e refiero a que cada uno de ustedes dice: “Yo soy de Pablo,” otro: “yo de Apolos,” otro: “yo de Cefas,” y otro: “yo de Cristo.”

Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Cephas,” and, “I follow Christ.”

13 ¿ Está dividido Cristo? ¿Acaso fue Pablo crucificado por ustedes? ¿O fueron bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?

Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?

14 D oy gracias a Dios que no bauticé a ninguno de ustedes, excepto a Crispo y a Gayo,

I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,

15 p ara que nadie diga que fueron bautizados en mi nombre.

so that no one should say that I had baptized you into my own name.

16 T ambién bauticé a los de la casa de Estéfanas; por lo demás, no sé si bauticé a algún otro.

(I also baptized the household of Stephanas; besides them, I don’t know whether I baptized any other.)

17 P ues Cristo no me envió a bautizar, sino a predicar el evangelio (anunciar las buenas nuevas), no con palabras elocuentes, para que no se haga vana la cruz de Cristo. Cristo, Poder de Dios

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ wouldn’t be made void.

18 P orque la palabra de la cruz es necedad para los que se pierden, pero para nosotros los salvos es poder de Dios.

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved it is the power of God.

19 P orque está escrito: “ Destruire la sabiduria de los sabios, y el entendimiento de los inteligentes desechare.”

For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing.”

20 ¿ Dónde está el sabio ? ¿Dónde está el escriba? ¿Dónde está el que sabe discutir en este siglo (mundo)? ¿No ha hecho Dios que la sabiduría de este mundo sea necedad ?

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 P ues ya que en la sabiduría de Dios, el mundo no conoció a Dios por medio de su propia sabiduría, agradó a Dios mediante la necedad de la predicación salvar a los que creen.

For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.

22 P orque en verdad los Judíos piden señales (milagros) y los Griegos buscan sabiduría;

For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom,

23 p ero nosotros predicamos a Cristo crucificado, piedra de tropiezo para los Judíos, y necedad para los Gentiles.

but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks,

24 S in embargo, para los llamados, tanto Judíos como Griegos, Cristo es poder de Dios y sabiduría de Dios.

but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

25 P orque la necedad de Dios es más sabia que los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres. Cristo, Sabiduría de Dios

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 P ues consideren, hermanos, su llamamiento. No hubo muchos sabios conforme a la carne (normas humanas), ni muchos poderosos, ni muchos nobles.

For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;

27 S ino que Dios ha escogido lo necio del mundo para avergonzar a los sabios; y Dios ha escogido lo débil del mundo para avergonzar a lo que es fuerte.

but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;

28 T ambién Dios ha escogido lo vil y despreciado del mundo: lo que no es, para anular lo que es,

and God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are:

29 p ara que nadie se jacte delante de Dios.

that no flesh should boast before God.

30 P ero por obra Suya están ustedes en Cristo Jesús, el cual se hizo para nosotros sabiduría de Dios, y justificación, santificación y redención,

Because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:

31 p ara que, tal como está escrito: “ El que se gloria, que se glorie en el Señor.”

that, according as it is written, “He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”
