1 A conteció que estando Jesús orando en cierto lugar, cuando terminó, Le dijo uno de Sus discípulos: “Señor, enséñanos a orar, así como Juan enseñó también a sus discípulos.”

When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”

2 Y El les dijo: “Cuando oren, digan: ‘ Padre, santificado sea Tu nombre. Venga Tu reino.

He said to them, “When you pray, say, ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

3 D anos hoy el pan nuestro de cada día.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

4 Y perdónanos nuestros pecados, Porque también nosotros perdonamos a todos los que nos deben. Y no nos metas (no nos dejes caer) en tentación.’”

Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”

5 T ambién les dijo: “Supongamos que uno de ustedes tiene un amigo, y va a él a medianoche y le dice: ‘Amigo, préstame tres panes,

He said to them, “Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,

6 p orque un amigo mío ha llegado de viaje a mi casa, y no tengo nada que ofrecerle;’

for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’

7 y aquél, respondiendo desde adentro, le dice: ‘No me molestes; la puerta ya está cerrada, y mis hijos y yo estamos acostados; no puedo levantarme para darte nada.’

and he from within will answer and say, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give it to you’?

8 L es digo que aunque no se levante a darle algo por ser su amigo, no obstante, por su importunidad (insistencia) se levantará y le dará cuanto necesite.

I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

9 “ Así que Yo les digo: pidan, y se les dará; busquen, y hallarán; llamen, y se les abrirá.

“I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.

10 P orque todo el que pide, recibe; y el que busca, halla; y al que llama, se le abrirá.

For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

11 O supongan que a uno de ustedes que es padre, su hijo le pide pan, ¿acaso le dará una piedra? O si le pide un pescado, ¿acaso le dará una serpiente en lugar del pescado?

“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?

12 O si le pide un huevo, ¿acaso le dará un escorpión?

Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he?

13 P ues si ustedes siendo malos, saben dar buenas dádivas a sus hijos, ¿cuánto más su Padre celestial dará el Espíritu Santo a los que se Lo pidan ?” Jesús y Beelzebú

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

14 J esús estaba echando fuera un demonio que era mudo, y cuando el demonio salió, el mudo habló; y las multitudes se maravillaron.

He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled.

15 P ero algunos de ellos dijeron: “El echa fuera los demonios por Beelzebú, príncipe de los demonios.”

But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”

16 Y otros, para poner a prueba a Jesús, demandaban de El una señal (un milagro) del cielo.

Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven.

17 P ero conociendo El sus pensamientos, les dijo: “Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo es asolado; y una casa dividida contra sí misma, se derrumba.

But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. A house divided against itself falls.

18 Y si también Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo permanecerá en pie su reino? Porque ustedes dicen que Yo echo fuera demonios por Beelzebú.

If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

19 Y si Yo echo fuera demonios por Beelzebú, ¿por quién los echan fuera los hijos de ustedes? Por tanto, ellos serán sus jueces.

But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore will they be your judges.

20 P ero si Yo por el dedo de Dios echo fuera los demonios, entonces el reino de Dios ha llegado a ustedes.

But if I by God’s finger cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come to you.

21 C uando un hombre fuerte, bien armado, custodia su palacio, sus bienes están seguros.

“When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe.

22 P ero cuando uno más fuerte que él lo ataca y lo vence, le quita todas sus armas en las cuales había confiado y distribuye su botín.

But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his plunder.

23 E l que no está a Mi lado, contra Mí está; y el que a Mi lado no recoge, desparrama.

“He that is not with me is against me. He who doesn’t gather with me scatters.

24 C uando el espíritu inmundo sale del hombre, pasa por lugares áridos buscando descanso; y al no hallarlo, dice: ‘Volveré a mi casa de donde salí.’

The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of the man, passes through dry places, seeking rest, and finding none, he says, ‘I will turn back to my house from which I came out.’

25 Y al llegar, la encuentra barrida y arreglada.

When he returns, he finds it swept and put in order.

26 E ntonces va y toma consigo otros siete espíritus peores que él, y entrando, moran allí; y el estado final de aquel hombre resulta peor que el primero.” La Verdadera Dicha

Then he goes, and takes seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first.”

27 M ientras Jesús decía estas cosas, una de las mujeres en la multitud alzó la voz y dijo: “¡Dichosa la matriz que Te concibió y los senos que Te criaron!”

It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!”

28 “ Al contrario,” le contestó Jesús, “dichosos los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la guardan.” La Gente Demanda Señal

But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”

29 C omo la multitud se aglomeraba, Jesús comenzó a decir: “ Esta generación es una generación perversa; busca señal (milagro), y ninguna señal se le dará, sino la señal de Jonás.

When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say, “This is an evil generation. It seeks after a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah, the prophet.

30 P orque de la misma manera que Jonás vino a ser una señal para los Ninivitas, así también lo será el Hijo del Hombre para esta generación.

For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will also the Son of Man be to this generation.

31 L a Reina del Sur se levantará en el juicio con los hombres de esta generación y los condenará, porque ella vino desde los confines de la tierra para oír la sabiduría de Salomón; y miren, algo más grande que Salomón está aquí.

The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and will condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here.

32 L os hombres de Nínive se levantarán en el juicio con esta generación y la condenarán, porque ellos se arrepintieron con la predicación de Jonás; y miren, algo más grande que Jonás está aquí. La Lámpara del Cuerpo

The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, one greater than Jonah is here.

33 “ Nadie, cuando enciende una lámpara, la pone en un sótano ni debajo de una vasija, sino sobre el candelero, para que los que entren vean la luz.

“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light.

34 L a lámpara de tu cuerpo es tu ojo; cuando tu ojo está sano, también todo tu cuerpo está lleno de luz; pero cuando está malo, también tu cuerpo está lleno de oscuridad.

The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness.

35 M ira, pues, que la luz que en ti hay no sea oscuridad.

Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness.

36 A sí que, si todo tu cuerpo está lleno de luz, sin tener parte alguna en tinieblas, estará totalmente iluminado como cuando la lámpara te alumbra con sus rayos.” Jesús Denuncia a los Fariseos y a los Intérpretes de la Ley

If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light.”

37 C uando terminó de hablar, un Fariseo Le rogó que comiera con él; y Jesús entró y se sentó a la mesa.

Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in, and sat at the table.

38 E l Fariseo al ver esto, se sorprendió de que Jesús no se hubiera lavado primero antes de comer, según el ritual Judío.

When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed himself before dinner.

39 P ero el Señor le dijo: “Ahora bien, ustedes los Fariseos limpian lo de afuera del vaso y del plato; pero por dentro están llenos de robo y de maldad.

The Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.

40 N ecios, el que hizo lo de afuera, ¿no hizo también lo de adentro?

You foolish ones, didn’t he who made the outside make the inside also?

41 D en más bien lo que está dentro como obra de caridad, y entonces todo les será limpio.

But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you.

42 “ Pero ¡ay de ustedes, Fariseos! Porque pagan el diezmo de la menta y la ruda y toda clase de hortaliza, y sin embargo pasan por alto la justicia y el amor de Dios; pero esto es lo que debían haber practicado sin descuidar lo otro.

But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and the love of God. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.

43 ¡ Ay de ustedes, Fariseos! Porque aman los primeros asientos en las sinagogas y los saludos respetuosos en las plazas.

Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues, and the greetings in the marketplaces.

44 ¡ Ay de ustedes! Porque son como sepulcros que no se ven, sobre los que andan los hombres sin saber lo.”

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them don’t know it.”

45 R espondiendo uno de los intérpretes de la Ley (expertos en la Ley de Moisés), Le dijo: “Maestro, cuando dices esto, también a nosotros nos insultas.”

One of the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying this you insult us also.”

46 Y El dijo: “¡Ay también de ustedes, intérpretes de la Ley! Porque cargan a los hombres con cargas difíciles de llevar, y ustedes ni siquiera tocan las cargas con uno de sus dedos.

He said, “Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves won’t even lift one finger to help carry those burdens.

47 ¡ Ay de ustedes! Porque edifican los sepulcros de los profetas, y fueron los padres de ustedes quienes los mataron.

Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

48 D e modo que son testigos, y aprueban las acciones de sus padres; porque ellos los mataron y ustedes edifican sus sepulcros.

So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs.

49 P or eso la sabiduría de Dios también dijo: ‘Les enviaré profetas y apóstoles, y de ellos, matarán a algunos y perseguirán a otros,

Therefore also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute,

50 p ara que la sangre de todos los profetas, derramada desde la fundación del mundo, se le cargue a esta generación.

that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

51 D esde la sangre de Abel hasta la sangre de Zacarías, que pereció entre el altar y la casa de Dios. Sí, les digo que le será cargada a esta generación.’

from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.

52 ¡ Ay de ustedes, intérpretes de la ley! Porque han quitado la llave del conocimiento. Ustedes mismos no entraron, y a los que estaban entrando se lo impidieron.”

Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You didn’t enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.”

53 C uando salió de allí, los escribas y los Fariseos comenzaron a acosar en gran manera, y a interrogar minuciosamente a Jesús sobre muchas cosas,

As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him;

54 t ramando contra El para ver si Lo podían atrapar en algo que dijera.

lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.
