1 H abló Moisés a los príncipes de las tribus de los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado.

Then Moses said to the heads of the families of the sons of Israel, “This is what the Lord has said.

2 C uando alguno hiciere voto a Jehová, o hiciere juramento ligando su alma con obligación, no quebrantará su palabra; hará conforme a todo lo que salió de su boca.

If a man makes a promise to the Lord, or swears that he will keep his promise, he must not break his word. He must do all that he said he would do.

3 M as la mujer, cuando hiciere voto a Jehová, y se ligare con obligación en casa de su padre, en su juventud;

If a woman makes a promise to the Lord, and swears to keep her promise in her father’s house when she is young,

4 s i su padre oyere su voto, y la obligación con que ligó su alma, y su padre callare a ello, todos los votos de ella serán firmes, y toda obligación con que hubiere ligado su alma, firme será.

and if her father hears her promise and how she has sworn to keep it, and says nothing to her, then all her promises must be kept. She must keep every promise she has sworn to keep.

5 M as si su padre le vedare el día que oyere todos sus votos y sus obligaciones con que ella hubiere ligado su alma, no serán firmes; y Jehová la perdonará, por cuanto su padre se lo vedó.

But if her father does not allow her to keep her promise on the day he hears of it, then she does not need to keep any of the promises she has sworn to keep. The Lord will forgive her because her father would not allow it.

6 P ero si fuere casada e hiciere votos, o pronunciare de sus labios cosa con que obligue su alma;

“If she gets married and has promises to keep because of what she swore without thinking,

7 s i su marido lo oyere, y cuando lo oyere callare a ello, los votos de ella serán firmes, y la obligación con que ligó su alma, firme será.

and if her husband hears of it and says nothing to her on the day he hears, then she must keep the promises she has sworn to keep.

8 P ero si cuando su marido lo oyó, le vedó, entonces el voto que ella hizo, y lo que pronunció de sus labios con que ligó su alma, será nulo; y Jehová la perdonará.

But if on the day he hears of it, her husband does not allow her to keep her promise, then she will not have to keep the promise that she had sworn to keep when she was not thinking. The Lord will forgive her.

9 P ero todo voto de viuda o repudiada, con que ligare su alma, será firme.

“A woman whose husband has died or left her must keep the promises she has sworn to keep.

10 Y si hubiere hecho voto en casa de su marido, y hubiere ligado su alma con obligación de juramento,

But if she has made a promise in her husband’s house, and she has sworn to keep a promise there

11 s i su marido oyó, y calló a ello y no le vedó, entonces todos sus votos serán firmes, y toda obligación con que hubiere ligado su alma, firme será.

and if her husband hears of it, and does not go against her or say anything to her, then she must keep all the promises she had sworn to keep.

12 M as si su marido los anuló el día que los oyó, todo lo que salió de sus labios cuanto a sus votos, y cuanto a la obligación de su alma, será nulo; su marido los anuló, y Jehová la perdonará.

But if her husband does not allow her to keep her promises on the day he hears of them, then she does not have to keep the promises she had sworn to keep. If her husband will not let her keep them, the Lord will forgive her.

13 T odo voto, y todo juramento obligándose a afligir el alma, su marido lo confirmará, o su marido lo anulará.

“Her husband has the right to have her keep, or not keep, any promise she has sworn to keep.

14 P ero si su marido callare a ello de día en día, entonces confirmó todos sus votos, y todas las obligaciones que están sobre ella; los confirmó, por cuanto calló a ello el día que lo oyó.

But if her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then she must keep all her promises. He made her promises so they could not be changed, because he said nothing to her on the day he heard of them.

15 M as si los anulare después de haberlos oído, entonces él llevará el pecado de ella.

But if he will not allow her to keep her promises after he has heard of them, then her guilt will be on him.”

16 E stas son las ordenanzas que Jehová mandó a Moisés entre el varón y su mujer, y entre el padre y su hija durante su juventud en casa de su padre.

These are the Laws which the Lord told Moses, between a man and his wife, and between a father and his daughter, while she is young and in her father’s house.
