1 T res años pasaron sin guerra entre los sirios e Israel.

Three years passed without war between Syria and Israel.

2 Y aconteció al tercer año, que Josafat rey de Judá descendió al rey de Israel.

In the third year, Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

3 Y el rey de Israel dijo a sus siervos: ¿No sabéis que Ramot de Galaad es nuestra, y nosotros no hemos hecho nada para tomarla de mano del rey de Siria?

The king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that Ramothgilead belongs to us? We are still doing nothing to take it from the king of Syria.”

4 Y dijo a Josafat: ¿Quieres venir conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad? Y Josafat respondió al rey de Israel: Yo soy como tú, y mi pueblo como tu pueblo, y mis caballos como tus caballos.

And he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to battle at Ramoth-gilead?” Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “I am as you are. My people are as your people. My horses are as your horses.”

5 D ijo luego Josafat al rey de Israel: Yo te ruego que consultes hoy la palabra de Jehová.

Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Ask first for the word of the Lord.”

6 E ntonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, como cuatrocientos hombres, a los cuales dijo: ¿Iré a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaré? Y ellos dijeron: Sube, porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

Then the king of Israel gathered together the men who spoke for God, 400 men. He said to them, “Should I go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or should I not?” And they said, “Go. For the Lord will give it to the king.”

7 Y dijo Josafat: ¿Hay aún aquí algún profeta de Jehová, por el cual consultemos?

But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not another man who speaks for the Lord here, that we may ask him?”

8 E l rey de Israel respondió a Josafat: Aún hay un varón por el cual podríamos consultar a Jehová, Micaías hijo de Imla; mas yo le aborrezco, porque nunca me profetiza bien, sino solamente mal. Y Josafat dijo: No hable el rey así.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is only one other man whom we may ask of the Lord, but I hate him. He does not speak anything good about me, only bad. He is Micaiah the son of Imlah.” But Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say that.”

9 E ntonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial, y le dijo: Trae pronto a Micaías hijo de Imla.

Then the king of Israel called a soldier and said, “Be quick to bring Micaiah the son of Imlah.”

10 Y el rey de Israel y Josafat rey de Judá estaban sentados cada uno en su silla, vestidos de sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.

Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones, dressed in their king’s clothing. They sat at the grain-floor at the gate of Samaria. All the men who speak for God were speaking in front of them.

11 Y Sedequías hijo de Quenaana se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Con éstos acornearás a los sirios hasta acabarlos.

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made horns of iron for himself and said, “The Lord says, ‘With these you will fight the Syrians until they are destroyed.’”

12 Y todos los profetas profetizaban de la misma manera, diciendo: Sube a Ramot de Galaad, y serás prosperado; porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

And all the men who spoke for God said so. They said, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and do well. For the Lord will give it to the king.”

13 Y el mensajero que había ido a llamar a Micaías, le habló diciendo: He aquí que las palabras de los profetas a una voz anuncian al rey cosas buenas; sea ahora tu palabra conforme a la palabra de alguno de ellos, y anuncia también buen éxito.

The man who went to call Micaiah said to him, “See, the words of those who speak for God are all in the king’s favor. Let your words be like theirs and speak in favor of the king.”

14 Y Micaías respondió: Vive Jehová, que lo que Jehová me hablare, eso diré.

But Micaiah said, “As the Lord lives, I will say what the Lord says to me.”

15 V ino, pues, al rey, y el rey le dijo: Micaías, ¿iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaremos? El le respondió: Sube, y serás prosperado, y Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

Micaiah came to the king. And the king said to him, “Micaiah, should we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or should we not?” He answered, “Go up and do well. The Lord will give it to the king.”

16 Y el rey le dijo: ¿Hasta cuántas veces he de exigirte que no me digas sino la verdad en el nombre de Jehová?

Then the king said to him, “How many times must I tell you to speak nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”

17 E ntonces él dijo: Yo vi a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas que no tienen pastor; y Jehová dijo: Estos no tienen señor; vuélvase cada uno a su casa en paz.

So Micaiah said, “I saw all Israel spread upon the mountains like sheep which have no shepherd. And the Lord said, ‘These have no owner. Let each of them return to his house in peace.’”

18 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: ¿No te lo había yo dicho? Ninguna cosa buena profetizará él acerca de mí, sino solamente el mal.

Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he would not speak good of me, but bad?”

19 E ntonces él dijo: Oye, pues, palabra de Jehová: Yo vi a Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba junto a él, a su derecha y a su izquierda.

Micaiah said, “So hear the word of the Lord. I saw the Lord sitting on His throne. All those in heaven were standing by Him on His right and on His left.

20 Y Jehová dijo: ¿Quién inducirá a Acab, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad? Y uno decía de una manera, y otro decía de otra.

The Lord said, ‘Who will lead Ahab to go up and die at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said one thing, and another said another thing.

21 Y salió un espíritu y se puso delante de Jehová, y dijo: Yo le induciré. Y Jehová le dijo: ¿De qué manera?

Then a spirit came and stood before the Lord and said, ‘I will lead him.’

22 E l dijo: Yo saldré, y seré espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas. Y él dijo: Le inducirás, y aun lo conseguirás; ve, pues, y hazlo así.

The Lord said to him, ‘How?’ And he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all those who will tell what will happen in the future.’ Then the Lord said, ‘You are to lead him, and do well. Go and do so.’

23 Y ahora, he aquí Jehová ha puesto espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos tus profetas, y Jehová ha decretado el mal acerca de ti.

Now see, the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these who tell what will happen in the future. The Lord has said bad things against you.”

24 E ntonces se acercó Sedequías hijo de Quenaana y golpeó a Micaías en la mejilla, diciendo: ¿Por dónde se fue de mí el Espíritu de Jehová para hablarte a ti?

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came and hit Micaiah on the face and said, “How did the Spirit of the Lord go from me to speak to you?”

25 Y Micaías respondió: He aquí tú lo verás en aquel día, cuando te irás metiendo de aposento en aposento para esconderte.

Micaiah said, “See, you will see on that day when you go into a room to hide yourself.”

26 E ntonces el rey de Israel dijo: Toma a Micaías, y llévalo a Amón gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás hijo del rey;

Then the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the leader of the city and to Joash the king’s son.

27 y dirás: Así ha dicho el rey: Echad a éste en la cárcel, y mantenedle con pan de angustia y con agua de aflicción, hasta que yo vuelva en paz.

Tell them, ‘The king says, “Put this man in prison and feed him with little bread and water, until I return in peace.” ‘ ”

28 Y dijo Micaías: Si llegas a volver en paz, Jehová no ha hablado por mí. En seguida dijo: Oíd, pueblos todos.

Micaiah said, “If you do return in peace, then the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said, “Listen, all you people.” The Death of Ahab

29 S ubió, pues, el rey de Israel con Josafat rey de Judá a Ramot de Galaad.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

30 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Yo me disfrazaré, y entraré en la batalla; y tú ponte tus vestidos. Y el rey de Israel se disfrazó, y entró en la batalla.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will dress so no one will know who I am, and will go to battle. But you put on your king’s clothing.” So the king of Israel dressed so no one would know who he was, and went into battle.

31 M as el rey de Siria había mandado a sus treinta y dos capitanes de los carros, diciendo: No peleéis ni con grande ni con chico, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel.

Now the king of Syria had told the thirty-two captains of his war-wagons, “Do not fight with the small or strong. But only fight with the king of Israel.”

32 C uando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Ciertamente éste es el rey de Israel; y vinieron contra él para pelear con él; mas el rey Josafat gritó.

When the captains of the war-wagons saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “For sure this is the king of Israel.” And they turned to fight against him, and Jehoshaphat cried out.

33 V iendo entonces los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, se apartaron de él.

Then the captains of the war-wagons saw that it was not the king of Israel. So they returned from going after him.

34 Y un hombre disparó su arco a la ventura e hirió al rey de Israel por entre las junturas de la armadura, por lo que dijo él a su cochero: Da la vuelta, y sácame del campo, pues estoy herido.

But a certain man happened to shoot an arrow and hit the king of Israel between the parts of his battle-clothes. So Ahab said to the driver of his war-wagon, “Turn around and take me out of the battle. For I am hurt.”

35 P ero la batalla había arreciado aquel día, y el rey estuvo en su carro delante de los sirios, y a la tarde murió; y la sangre de la herida corría por el fondo del carro.

The battle was hard that day, and the king was set up in his war-wagon in front of the Syrians. At evening he died. The blood from the cut flowed to the bottom of the war-wagon.

36 Y a la puesta del sol salió un pregón por el campamento, diciendo:!! Cada uno a su ciudad, y cada cual a su tierra!

Then a cry went through to his country!

37 M urió, pues, el rey, y fue traído a Samaria; y sepultaron al rey en Samaria.

So the king died and was brought to Samaria. They buried the king in Samaria.

38 Y lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria; y los perros lamieron su sangre (y también las rameras se lavaban allí), conforme a la palabra que Jehová había hablado.

And they washed the war-wagon by the pool of Samaria. The dogs drank up his blood. (The women who sold the use of their bodies washed themselves there.) It happened as the word of the Lord said it would.

39 E l resto de los hechos de Acab, y todo lo que hizo, y la casa de marfil que construyó, y todas las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Ahab and all he did, the ivory house and cities he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

40 Y durmió Acab con sus padres, y reinó en su lugar Ocozías su hijo. Reinado de Josafat (2 Cr. 20. 31-37)

Ahab died and his son Ahaziah became king in his place. Jehoshaphat Rules Judah

41 J osafat hijo de Asa comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Acab rey de Israel.

Jehoshaphat the son of Asa became the king of Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

42 E ra Josafat de treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Azuba hija de Silhi.

Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king. And he ruled twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

43 Y anduvo en todo el camino de Asa su padre, sin desviarse de él, haciendo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová. Con todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados; porque el pueblo sacrificaba aún, y quemaba incienso en ellos.

He walked in all the way of Asa his father. He did not turn aside from it. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. But the high places were not taken away. The people still gave gifts and burned special perfume on the high places.

44 Y Josafat hizo paz con el rey de Israel.

And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

45 L os demás hechos de Josafat, y sus hazañas, y las guerras que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

The rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, the strength he showed and how he fought, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

46 B arrió también de la tierra el resto de los sodomitas que había quedado en el tiempo de su padre Asa.

He destroyed from the land those who were left of the men who sold the use of their bodies in their religion during the days of his father Asa.

47 N o había entonces rey en Edom; había gobernador en lugar de rey.

Now there was no king in Edom. A leader was acting as king.

48 J osafat había hecho naves de Tarsis, las cuales habían de ir a Ofir por oro; mas no fueron, porque se rompieron en Ezión-geber.

Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold. But they did not go. For the ships were wrecked at Ezion-geber.

49 E ntonces Ocozías hijo de Acab dijo a Josafat: Vayan mis siervos con los tuyos en las naves. Mas Josafat no quiso.

Then Ahab’s son Ahaziah said to Jehoshaphat, “Let my servants go with your servants in the ships.” But Jehoshaphat was not willing.

50 Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David su padre; y en su lugar reinó Joram su hijo. Reinado de Ocozías de Israel

And Jehoshaphat died and was buried with his fathers in the city of his father David. Jehoram his son became king in his place. Ahaziah Rules Israel

51 O cozías hijo de Acab comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, el año diecisiete de Josafat rey de Judá; y reinó dos años sobre Israel.

Ahab’s son Ahaziah became the king of Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah. And he ruled Israel for two years.

52 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y anduvo en el camino de su padre, y en el camino de su madre, y en el camino de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar a Israel;

He did what was sinful in the eyes of the Lord. He walked in the way of his father and mother, and Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

53 p orque sirvió a Baal, y lo adoró, y provocó a ira a Jehová Dios de Israel, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho su padre.

He served the false god Baal and worshiped him. He made the Lord God of Israel angry in every way his father had done.
