1 E l peso falso es abominación a Jehová; Mas la pesa cabal le agrada.

A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.

2 C uando viene la soberbia, viene también la deshonra; Mas con los humildes está la sabiduría.

When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

3 L a integridad de los rectos les allanará el camino; Pero destruirá a los pecadores la perversidad de ellos.

The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

4 N o aprovecharán las riquezas en el día de la ira; Mas la justicia libra de la muerte.

Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

5 L a justicia del perfecto enderezará su camino; Mas el impío por su impiedad caerá.

The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

6 L a justicia de los rectos los librará; Mas los pecadores serán atrapados en su pecado.

The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.

7 C uando muere el hombre impío, perece su esperanza; Y la expectación de los malos quedará burlada.

When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

8 E l justo es librado de la tribulación; Mas el impío entra a ocupar el lugar de él.

The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

9 E l hipócrita daña con la boca a su prójimo; Mas los justos son librados con su sabiduría.

An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

10 C on el éxito de los justos la ciudad se alegra; Mas cuando los impíos perecen hay fiesta.

When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

11 P or la bendición de los rectos la ciudad será engrandecida; Mas por la boca de los impíos será trastornada.

By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12 E l que menosprecia a su prójimo carece de entendimiento; Mas el hombre prudente calla.

He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

13 E l que anda en chismes divulga los secretos; Mas el de espíritu fiel oculta las cosas.

A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

14 D onde no hay dirección sabia, caerá el pueblo; Mas en la multitud de consejeros hay seguridad.

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

15 C on ansiedad será afligido el que sale por fiador de un extraño; Mas el que aborreciere las fianzas vivirá seguro.

He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

16 L a mujer agraciada retendrá el honor; Y el hombre fuerte retendrá las riquezas.

A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

17 A sí mismo se beneficia el hombre misericordioso; Mas el cruel se atormenta a sí mismo.

The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

18 E l impío consigue un jornal falso; Mas el que siembra justicia tendrá galardón firme.

The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

19 C omo la justicia conduce a la vida, Así el que sigue el mal lo hace para su muerte.

As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

20 A bominación son a Jehová los perversos de corazón; Mas los de camino intachable le son agradables.

They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the Lord: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

21 T arde o temprano, el malo será castigado; Mas la descendencia de los justos será librada.

Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

22 C omo zarcillo de oro en el hocico de un cerdo Es la mujer hermosa, pero falta de razón.

As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

23 E l deseo de los justos es solamente el bien; Mas lo que les espera a los impíos es el enojo.

The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

24 H ay quienes reparten, y les es añadido más; Y hay quienes retienen más de lo que es justo, pero vienen a pobreza.

There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25 E l alma generosa será prosperada; Y el que saciare, él también será saciado.

The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

26 A l que acapara el grano, el pueblo lo maldecirá; Pero habrá bendición sobre la cabeza del que lo vende.

He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

27 E l que busca el bien se procura favor; Mas al que busca el mal, éste le saldrá al encuentro.

He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

28 E l que confía en sus riquezas caerá; Mas los justos reverdecerán como el follaje.

He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

29 E l que desordena su casa heredará viento; Y el necio será siervo del sabio de corazón.

He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

30 E l fruto del justo es árbol de vida; Y el que gana almas es sabio,

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

31 C iertamente el justo será recompensado en la tierra; ¡Cuánto más el impío y el pecador!

Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
