1 ¡ Ay de la corona de soberbia de los ebrios de Efraín, y de la flor caduca de la hermosura de su gloria, que está sobre la cabeza del valle fértil de los aturdidos por el vino!

Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

2 H e aquí, Jehová tiene uno que es fuerte y poderoso; como turbión de granizo y como torbellino trastornador, como ímpetu de recias aguas que inundan; él derriba a tierra con una mano.

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

3 C on los pies será pisoteada la corona de soberbia de los ebrios de Efraín.

The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

4 Y la flor caduca de la hermosura de su gloria que está sobre la cabeza del valle fértil, será como la fruta temprana de la higuera, la que precede al verano, la cual, apenas la ve el que la mira, se la traga tan luego como la tiene a mano.

and the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

5 E n aquel día Jehová de los ejércitos será por corona de gloria y diadema de hermosura al remanente de su pueblo;

In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

6 y por espíritu de juicio al que se sienta en juicio, y por fuerzas a los que rechazan en la puerta a los atacantes.

and for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

7 P ero también éstos desvarían con el vino, y con el licor se entontecen; el sacerdote y el profeta desvarían por el licor, están trastornados por el vino; se aturdieron con el licor, desvarían en sus visiones, titubean en sus decisiones.

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

8 P orque toda mesa está llena de vómito y suciedad, hasta no haber lugar limpio.

For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

9 ¿ A quién se enseñará conocimiento, o a quién se hará entender el mensaje? ¿A los destetados?, ¿a los recién retirados de los pechos?

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10 P orque mandamiento tras mandamiento, mandato sobre mandato, renglón tras renglón, línea sobre línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá;

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11 p orque en lengua de tartamudos, y en extraña lengua se hablará a este pueblo,

for with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 a l cual se dijo: Éste es el lugar de reposo; dad reposo al cansado; y éste es el lugar de refrigerio; mas no quisieron escuchar.

To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

13 L a palabra, pues, de Jehová les será: mandamiento tras mandamiento, mandato sobre mandato, renglón tras renglón, línea sobre línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá; de modo que vayan a caerse de espaldas, y sean quebrantados, caigan en la trampa y queden apresados.

But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

14 P or tanto, vosotros los burladores, los falsos trovadores de este pueblo que está en Jerusalén, oíd la palabra de Jehová.

Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

15 P or cuanto habéis dicho: Tenemos hecho un pacto con la muerte, e hicimos un convenio con el Seol; cuando pase el turbión del azote, no llegará a nosotros, porque hemos puesto nuestro refugio en la mentira, y en la falsedad nos esconderemos;

Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

16 p or tanto, Jehová el Señor dice así: He aquí que yo pongo en Sión por fundamento una piedra, piedra probada, angular, preciosa, de cimiento estable; el que crea en ella, no vacilará.

therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

17 P ondré la justicia como cordel, y la rectitud como plomada; el granizo barrerá el refugio de la mentira, y las aguas inundarán el escondrijo.

Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

18 Y será anulado vuestro pacto con la muerte, y vuestro convenio con el Seol no será firme; cuando pase el turbión del azote, seréis pisoteados por él.

And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

19 T antas veces como pase, os arrebatará; porque mañana tras mañana pasará, de día y de noche; y será un terrible espanto el entender el mensaje.

From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

20 L a cama será corta para poder estirarse, y la manta estrecha para poder envolverse.

For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

21 P orque Jehová se levantará como en el monte Perazim, como en el valle de Gibeón se enojará; para hacer su obra, su extraña obra, y para realizar su tarea, su extraña tarea.

For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

22 A hora, pues, no os burléis, para que no se aprieten más vuestras ataduras; porque una destrucción ya determinada sobre toda la tierra he oído del Señor, Jehová de los ejércitos. Tribulación, mas no destrucción

Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

23 E stad atentos, y escuchad mi voz; atended, y oíd mi dicho.

Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

24 E l que ara para sembrar, ¿arará todo el día? ¿Romperá y quebrará los terrones de la tierra?

Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

25 C uando ha igualado su superficie, ¿no derrama el eneldo, siembra el comino, pone el trigo en hileras, y la cebada en el lugar señalado, y la avena en su borde apropiado?

When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?

26 P orque su Dios le instruye, y le enseña lo recto;

For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

27 q ue el eneldo no se trilla con trillo, ni sobre el comino se pasa rueda de carreta; sino que con un palo se sacude el eneldo, y el comino con una vara.

For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.

28 ¿ Se tritura el grano? No, no lo triturará para siempre, y aunque haga pasar sobre él con ruido las ruedas de su carreta y los cascos de sus caballos, no lo aplastará.

Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.

29 T ambién esto salió de Jehová de los ejércitos, maravilloso en sus designios y grandioso en sabiduría.

This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.
