1 U n destructor sube contra ti; monta guardia en la fortaleza, vigila el camino, cíñete los lomos, concentra todo tu poder.

He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.

2 P orque Jehová restaurará la gloria de Jacob como la gloria de Israel; porque saqueadores los saquearon, y estropearon sus sarmientos.

For the Lord hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.

3 E l escudo de sus valientes está pintado de rojo, los varones de su ejército vestidos de grana; sus carros como fuego de antorchas; el día que se prepare, temblarán los cipreses.

The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.

4 L os carros se precipitarán a las plazas, con estruendo rodarán por las calles; su aspecto será como antorchas encendidas, correrán como relámpagos.

The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.

5 P asará revista a sus valientes; se atropellarán en su marcha; se apresurarán a su muro, y se preparará el parapeto.

He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared.

6 L as puertas de los ríos se abrirán, y el palacio será destruido.

The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.

7 Y la soberana será descubierta y deportada, y sus criadas la llevarán gimiendo como palomas, golpeándose el pecho.

And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.

8 F ue Nínive de tiempo antiguo como estanque de aguas que se escapan. Dicen: ¡Deteneos, deteneos!; pero ninguno mira atrás.

But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.

9 S aquead la plata, saquead el oro; no tienen fin los tesoros; es una riqueza inmensa de toda clase de efectos codiciables.

Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture.

10 D estrozo, saqueo y devastación; corazones que desfallecen; temblor de rodillas, dolor en los riñones, rostros demudados.

She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.

11 ¿ Qué es de la guarida de los leones, y de la majada de los cachorros de los leones, donde se recogía el león y la leona, y los cachorros del león, y no había quien los espantase?

Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the feedingplace of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion, walked, and the lion’s whelp, and none made them afraid?

12 E l león arrebataba en abundancia para sus cachorros, y ahogaba para sus leonas, y llenaba de presa sus cavernas, y de rapiña sus guaridas. Destrucción total de Nínive

The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin.

13 H eme aquí contra ti, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Encenderé y reduciré a humo tus carros, y la espada devorará a tus leoncillos; y cortaré de la tierra tus rapiñas, y nunca más se oirá la voz de tus mensajeros.

Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
