1 L a sabiduría edificó su casa, Labró sus siete columnas.

Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

2 M ató sus víctimas, mezcló su vino, Y puso su mesa.

she hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

3 E nvió sus criadas a invitar Desde lo más alto de la ciudad.

She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

4 D ice a cualquier inexperto: Ven acá. A los faltos de cordura dice:

Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

5 V enid, comed de mi pan, Y bebed del vino que yo he mezclado.

Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

6 D ejad las simplezas, y viviréis, Y andad por el camino de la inteligencia.

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

7 E l que corrige al arrogante, se acarrea afrenta; El que reprende al impío, se atrae oprobio.

He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

8 N o reprendas al cínico, para que no te aborrezca; Corrige al sabio, y te amará.

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

9 D a al sabio, y será más sabio; Enseña al justo, y aumentará su saber.

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

10 E l principio de la sabiduría es el temor de Jehová, Y la inteligencia es el conocimiento del Santísimo.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

11 P orque por mí se aumentarán tus días, Y años de vida se te añadirán.

For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

12 S i eres sabio, para tu provecho lo serás; Y si fueres escarnecedor, lo pagarás tú solo.

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

13 L a insensatez es alborotadora; Es simple e ignorante.

A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

14 S e sienta en una silla a la puerta de su casa, En los lugares altos de la ciudad,

For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

15 P ara llamar a los que pasan por el camino, Que van por sus caminos derechos.

to call passengers who go right on their ways:

17 L as aguas hurtadas son dulces, Y el pan comido en oculto es sabroso.

Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

18 Y no sabe el hombre que allí están los muertos; Que sus convidados están en lo profundo del Seol.

But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
