1 T ambién les decía: En verdad os digo que hay algunos de los que están aquí que no probarán la muerte hasta que vean el reino de Dios cuando haya venido con poder. La transfiguración

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

2 S eis días después, toma Jesús consigo a Pedro, a Jacobo y a Juan, y se los lleva a ellos solos aparte a un monte alto. Y se transfiguró delante de ellos;

And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

3 y sus vestiduras se volvieron resplandecientes, sumamente blancas, cuales ningún lavador de este mundo puede emblanquecerlas así.

And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

4 Y se les apareció Elías junto con Moisés, que estaban conversando con Jesús.

And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

5 E ntonces Pedro, tomando la palabra, le dice a Jesús: Rabí, es bueno que nos quedemos aquí; hagamos tres tiendas; una para ti, otra para Moisés, y otra para Elías.

And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

6 P ues no sabía qué decir, ya que les había entrado gran espanto.

For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.

7 E ntonces se formó una nube que les hizo sombra, y de la nube salió una voz: Éste es mi hijo, el Amado, escuchadle.

And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

8 Y de pronto, mirando en torno suyo, ya no vieron a nadie, excepto a Jesús solo con ellos.

And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

9 C uando iban bajando del monte, les ordenó que a nadie contaran lo que habían visto, excepto cuando el Hijo del Hombre se levantara de los muertos.

And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.

10 Y retuvieron este dicho, debatiendo entre ellos qué era eso de levantarse de los muertos.

And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.

11 Y comenzaron a preguntarle, diciendo: ¿Por qué dicen los escribas que Elías debe venir primero?

And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?

12 É l les contestó: Es cierto que Elías viene primero a restaurar todas las cosas; como está escrito del Hijo del Hombre que tiene que sufrir mucho y ser tenido en nada.

And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.

13 P ero os digo que Elías ha venido ya, e hicieron con él cuanto quisieron, tal como está escrito de él. Jesucristo sana a un muchacho endemoniado

But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.

14 C uando llegaron adonde los discípulos, vieron una gran multitud en torno a ellos, y a unos escribas que debatían con ellos.

And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.

15 T an pronto como toda la multitud le vio, quedaron llenos de sorpresa y corrían a saludarle.

And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.

16 Y él les preguntó: ¿De qué estáis discutiendo con ellos?

And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?

17 Y uno de entre la muchedumbre le respondió: Maestro, te he traído a mi hijo, poseído por un espíritu que le enmudece;

And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;

18 y dondequiera que se apodera de él, lo desgarra, y él echa espumarajos y cruje los dientes, y se pone rígido. Les dije a tus discípulos que lo expulsaran, pero no fueron capaces.

and wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

19 J esús les respondió, diciendo: ¡Oh generación incrédula! ¿Hasta cuándo estaré con vosotros? ¿Hasta cuándo he de soportaros? ¡Traédmelo!

He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

20 S e lo trajeron. Y cuando el espíritu vio a Jesús, al instante sacudió con violencia al muchacho y, cayendo en tierra, se revolcaba echando espumarajos.

And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

21 E ntonces Jesús preguntó al padre: ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que le viene sucediendo esto? Él dijo: Desde la niñez.

And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.

22 Y muchas veces le arroja, tanto al fuego como a las aguas, para destruirlo. Pero si tú puedes hacer algo, muévete a compasión sobre nosotros y ayúdanos.

And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

23 J esús le dijo: Si puedes creer, todo es posible para el que cree.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

24 A l instante, el padre del muchacho dijo a gritos: Creo; ven en auxilio de mi poca fe.

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

25 V iendo Jesús que se agolpaba rápidamente una multitud, reprendió al espíritu inmundo, diciéndole: Espíritu mudo y sordo, yo te ordeno, sal de él y no entres más en él.

When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26 E ntonces salió gritando y agitándole con muchas convulsiones; y el muchacho quedó como muerto, hasta el punto de que muchos decían: Ha muerto.

And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

27 P ero Jesús le tomó de la mano y le levantó, y él se puso en pie.

But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

28 C uando Jesús entró en casa, le preguntaban sus discípulos en privado: ¿Por qué no pudimos expulsarlo nosotros?

And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

29 É l les dijo: Esta clase no puede salir con nada sino con oración y ayuno. Jesucristo anuncia otra vez su muerte

And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

30 Y saliendo de allí, iban pasando a través de Galilea, y él no quería que nadie se enterase;

And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

31 p ues él estaba enseñándoles a sus discípulos, y les decía: El Hijo del Hombre es entregado a traición en manos de hombres, y le matarán; y después de tres días, resucitará.

For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

32 P ero ellos no entendían este dicho, y tenían miedo de preguntarle. Contra la ambición

But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

33 L legaron a Capernaúm. Y estando ya en la casa, les preguntaba: ¿Qué discutíais por el camino?

And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?

34 P ero ellos se callaban; porque en el camino habían discutido entre sí quién era mayor.

But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

35 E ntonces se sentó, llamó a voces a los doce, y les dijo: Si alguien desea ser primero, que sea el último de todos y el servidor de todos.

And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

36 Y tomando a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos, lo tomó en sus brazos, y les dijo:

And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,

37 C ualquiera que reciba a un niño como éste en mi nombre, a mí me recibe; y cualquiera que me recibe a mí, no me recibe a mí, sino al que me envió. Contra la rivalidad

Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

38 J uan le dijo: Maestro, vimos a uno que estaba expulsando demonios en tu nombre, pero él no nos sigue, y tratábamos de impedírselo, porque no nos seguía.

And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

39 P ero Jesús dijo: No se lo impidáis, porque no hay nadie que haga un milagro en mi nombre, y que pueda a continuación hablar mal de mí.

But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.

40 P ues el que no está en contra de nosotros, está a favor de nosotros.

For he that is not against us is on our part.

41 P orque cualquiera que os dé a beber un vaso de agua por el hecho de que sois de Cristo, en verdad os digo que de ninguna manera perderá su recompensa. Ocasiones de caer

For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

42 Y cualquiera que sirva de piedra de tropiezo a uno solo de estos pequeños que creen en mí, mejor le sería que le ataran al cuello una piedra de molino, y que le echaran al mar.

And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

43 Y si tu mano te sirve de tropiezo, córtatela; mejor es que entres en la vida manco, que teniendo las dos manos, ir al infierno, al fuego inextinguible,

And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

44 d onde su gusano no se muere, y el fuego no se apaga.

where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

45 Y si tu pie te sirve de tropiezo, córtatelo; mejor es que entres en la vida cojo, que teniendo los dos pies, ser arrojado al infierno,

And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

46 d onde su gusano no se muere, y el fuego no se apaga.

where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

47 Y si tu ojo te sirve de tropiezo, sácatelo; mejor es que entres en el reino de Dios tuerto, que teniendo dos ojos, ser arrojado al infierno,

And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:

48 d onde su gusano no se muere, y el fuego no se apaga.

where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

49 P orque todos serán salados con fuego, y todo sacrificio será salado con sal.

For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.

50 B uena es la sal; pero si la sal se vuelve insípida, ¿con qué la sazonaréis? Tened sal en vosotros mismos, y estad en paz los unos con los otros.

Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
