1 A t that season Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,

En aquel tiempo Herodes el tetrarca oyó la fama de Jesús,

2 a nd said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore do these powers work in him.

y dijo a sus criados: Este es Juan el Bautista; ha resucitado de los muertos, y por eso actúan en él estos poderes.

3 F or Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.

Porque Herodes había prendido a Juan, y le había encadenado y metido en la cárcel, por causa de Herodías, mujer de Felipe su hermano;

4 F or John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

porque Juan le decía: No te es lícito tenerla.

5 A nd when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

Y Herodes quería matarle, pero temía al pueblo; porque tenían a Juan por profeta.

6 B ut when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and pleased Herod.

Pero cuando se celebraba el cumpleaños de Herodes, la hija de Herodías danzó en medio, y agradó a Herodes,

7 W hereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she should ask.

por lo cual éste le prometió con juramento darle todo lo que pidiese.

8 A nd she, being put forward by her mother, saith, Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.

Ella, instruida primero por su madre, dijo: Dame aquí en un plato la cabeza de Juan el Bautista.

9 A nd the king was grieved; but for the sake of his oaths, and of them that sat at meat with him, he commanded it to be given;

Entonces el rey se entristeció; pero a causa del juramento, y de los que estaban con él a la mesa, mandó que se la diesen,

10 a nd he sent and beheaded John in the prison.

y ordenó decapitar a Juan en la cárcel.

11 A nd his head was brought on a platter, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.

Y fue traída su cabeza en un plato, y dada a la muchacha; y ella la presentó a su madre.

12 A nd his disciples came, and took up the corpse, and buried him; and they went and told Jesus.

Entonces llegaron sus discípulos, y tomaron el cuerpo y lo enterraron; y fueron y dieron las nuevas a Jesús. Alimentación de los cinco mil (Mr. 6. 30-44; Lc. 9. 10-17; Jn. 6. 1-14)

13 N ow when Jesus heard it, he withdrew from thence in a boat, to a desert place apart: and when the multitudes heard thereof, they followed him on foot from the cities.

Oyéndolo Jesús, se apartó de allí en una barca a un lugar desierto y apartado; y cuando la gente lo oyó, le siguió a pie desde las ciudades.

14 A nd he came forth, and saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick.

Y saliendo Jesús, vio una gran multitud, y tuvo compasión de ellos, y sanó a los que de ellos estaban enfermos.

15 A nd when even was come, the disciples came to him, saying, The place is desert, and the time is already past; send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.

Cuando anochecía, se acercaron a él sus discípulos, diciendo: El lugar es desierto, y la hora ya pasada; despide a la multitud, para que vayan por las aldeas y compren de comer.

16 B ut Jesus said unto them, They have no need to go away; give ye them to eat.

Jesús les dijo: No tienen necesidad de irse; dadles vosotros de comer.

17 A nd they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

Y ellos dijeron: No tenemos aquí sino cinco panes y dos peces.

18 A nd he said, Bring them hither to me.

El les dijo: Traédmelos acá.

19 A nd he commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

Entonces mandó a la gente recostarse sobre la hierba; y tomando los cinco panes y los dos peces, y levantando los ojos al cielo, bendijo, y partió y dio los panes a los discípulos, y los discípulos a la multitud.

20 A nd they all ate, and were filled: and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full.

Y comieron todos, y se saciaron; y recogieron lo que sobró de los pedazos, doce cestas llenas.

21 A nd they that did eat were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Y los que comieron fueron como cinco mil hombres, sin contar las mujeres y los niños. Jesús anda sobre el mar (Mr. 6. 45-52; Jn. 6. 15-21)

22 A nd straightway he constrained the disciples to enter into the boat, and to go before him unto the other side, till he should send the multitudes away.

En seguida Jesús hizo a sus discípulos entrar en la barca e ir delante de él a la otra ribera, entre tanto que él despedía a la multitud.

23 A nd after he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain apart to pray: and when even was come, he was there alone.

Despedida la multitud, subió al monte a orar aparte; y cuando llegó la noche, estaba allí solo.

24 B ut the boat was now in the midst of the sea, distressed by the waves; for the wind was contrary.

Y ya la barca estaba en medio del mar, azotada por las olas; porque el viento era contrario.

25 A nd in the fourth watch of the night he came unto them, walking upon the sea.

Mas a la cuarta vigilia de la noche, Jesús vino a ellos andando sobre el mar.

26 A nd when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a ghost; and they cried out for fear.

Y los discípulos, viéndole andar sobre el mar, se turbaron, diciendo:!! Un fantasma! Y dieron voces de miedo.

27 B ut straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

Pero en seguida Jesús les habló, diciendo:!! Tened ánimo; yo soy, no temáis!

28 A nd Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto the upon the waters.

Entonces le respondió Pedro, y dijo: Señor, si eres tú, manda que yo vaya a ti sobre las aguas.

29 A nd he said, Come. And Peter went down from the boat, and walked upon the waters to come to Jesus.

Y él dijo: Ven. Y descendiendo Pedro de la barca, andaba sobre las aguas para ir a Jesús.

30 B ut when he saw the wind, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me.

Pero al ver el fuerte viento, tuvo miedo; y comenzando a hundirse, dio voces, diciendo:!! Señor, sálvame!

31 A nd immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and took hold of him, and saith unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Al momento Jesús, extendiendo la mano, asió de él, y le dijo:!! Hombre de poca fe! ¿Por qué dudaste?

32 A nd when they were gone up into the boat, the wind ceased.

Y cuando ellos subieron en la barca, se calmó el viento.

33 A nd they that were in the boat worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Entonces los que estaban en la barca vinieron y le adoraron, diciendo: Verdaderamente eres Hijo de Dios. Jesús sana a los enfermos en Genesaret (Mr. 6. 53-56)

34 A nd when they had crossed over, they came to the land, unto Gennesaret.

Y terminada la travesía, vinieron a tierra de Genesaret.

35 A nd when the men of that place knew him, they sent into all that region round about, and brought unto him all that were sick,

Cuando le conocieron los hombres de aquel lugar, enviaron noticia por toda aquella tierra alrededor, y trajeron a él todos los enfermos;

36 a nd they besought him that they might only touch the border of his garment: and as many as touched were made whole.

y le rogaban que les dejase tocar solamente el borde de su manto; y todos los que lo tocaron, quedaron sanos.
