1 I n the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel began Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah to reign.

En el año segundo de Joás hijo de Joacaz rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá.

2 H e was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.

Cuando comenzó a reinar era de veinticinco años, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalén; el nombre de su madre fue Joadán, de Jerusalén.

3 A nd he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done.

Y él hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, aunque no como David su padre; hizo conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Joás su padre.

4 H owbeit the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

Con todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados, porque el pueblo aún sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en esos lugares altos.

5 A nd it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he slew his servants who had slain the king his father:

Y cuando hubo afirmado en sus manos el reino, mató a los siervos que habían dado muerte al rey su padre.

6 b ut the children of the murderers he put not to death; according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as Jehovah commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.

Pero no mató a los hijos de los que le dieron muerte, conforme a lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó diciendo: No matarán a los padres por los hijos, ni a los hijos por los padres, sino que cada uno morirá por su propio pecado.

7 H e slew of Edom in the Valley of Salt ten thousand, and took Sela by war, and called the name of it Joktheel, unto this day.

Este mató asimismo a diez mil edomitas en el Valle de la Sal, y tomó a Sela en batalla, y la llamó Jocteel, hasta hoy.

8 T hen Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

Entonces Amasías envió mensajeros a Joás hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, para que nos veamos las caras.

9 A nd Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.

Y Joás rey de Israel envió a Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardo que está en el Líbano envió a decir al cedro que está en el Líbano: Da tu hija por mujer a mi hijo. Y pasaron las fieras que están en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardo.

10 T hou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up: glory thereof, and abide at home; for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

Ciertamente has derrotado a Edom, y tu corazón se ha envanecido; gloríate pues, mas quédate en tu casa. ¿Para qué te metes en un mal, para que caigas tú y Judá contigo?

11 B ut Amaziah would not hear. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

Pero Amasías no escuchó; por lo cual subió Joás rey de Israel, y se vieron las caras él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Bet-semes, que es de Judá.

12 A nd Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.

Y Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyeron, cada uno a su tienda.

13 A nd Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

Además Joás rey de Israel tomó a Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joás hijo de Ocozías, en Bet-semes; y vino a Jerusalén, y rompió el muro de Jerusalén desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.

14 A nd he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

Y tomó todo el oro, y la plata, y todos los utensilios que fueron hallados en la casa de Jehová, y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y a los hijos tomó en rehenes, y volvió a Samaria.

15 N ow the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Los demás hechos que ejecutó Joás, y sus hazañas, y cómo peleó contra Amasías rey de Judá, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

16 A nd Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Joás con sus padres, y fue sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Jeroboam su hijo.

17 A nd Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

Y Amasías hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, vivió después de la muerte de Joás hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel, quince años.

18 N ow the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Amasías, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

19 A nd they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

Conspiraron contra él en Jerusalén, y él huyó a Laquis; pero le persiguieron hasta Laquis, y allá lo mataron.

20 A nd they brought him upon horses; and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

21 A nd all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

22 H e built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

23 I n the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.

El año quince de Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Jeroboam hijo de Joás sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó cuarenta y un años.

24 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y no se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar a Israel.

25 H e restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath unto the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of Jehovah, the God of Israel, which he spake by his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gath-hepher.

El restauró los límites de Israel desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el mar del Arabá, conforme a la palabra de Jehová Dios de Israel, la cual él había hablado por su siervo Jonás hijo de Amitai, profeta que fue de Gat-hefer.

26 F or Jehovah saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter; for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel.

Porque Jehová miró la muy amarga aflicción de Israel; que no había siervo ni libre, ni quien diese ayuda a Israel;

27 A nd Jehovah said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

y Jehová no había determinado raer el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo; por tanto, los salvó por mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joás.

28 N ow the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Los demás hechos de Jeroboam, y todo lo que hizo, y su valentía, y todas las guerras que hizo, y cómo restituyó al dominio de Israel a Damasco y Hamat, que habían pertenecido a Judá, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

29 A nd Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Jeroboam con sus padres, los reyes de Israel, y reinó en su lugar Zacarías su hijo.
